About Sharon Spaker

I am a fiber artist and my partner, Bass is a songwriter. Sandy Pond is a wonderful place for us to escape the heat of our home in Southern Florida as well as reconnect with friends in our native upstate New York. The natural beauty, quiet area and spectacular sunsets fuel our creative spirits.

Sharon Spaker purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Sharon Spaker chose Sandy Creek

Our rental cottage offers a large lot for outdoor activities in a neighborhood that is less populated than much of the waterfront. The cottage was meticulously remodeled, furnished and equipped in August 2015 for vacation rentals.

What makes this cottage unique

Sandy Pond offers a diversity seldom found in one place. Wile resembling a lake, this encircled bay has access to miles of Sandy beaches directly on the waters of enormous Lake Ontario. The calm and warmer waters of the pond are a serene place to kayak, canoe and paddle board. Lake Ontario is perfect for large game fishing and boating. Sandy Pond is a bass haven and hosts many tournaments.

Clean and modern, with all amenities to have a great time out

  • 5 of 5

We were a Family of 4 from Berlin, Germany and had a fantastic 11 Day time out on the pond/lake. All was as advertised...clean, modern, quiet and you were extremely accomodating. The cottage had all amenities including beach chairs, a cooler for picnics at the beach, life vests & swimming toys for the boys, a Weber grill for ad hoc BBQs, a large picnic table, chairs and so on. The cottage has a nice yard with plenty of room for playing with the kids. All we had to do was buy groceries at the nearby Aldi in Pulaski (Germans love Aldis!). We had a spontaneous visit of friends from Germany & birthday Party for our 8yr old and a Family BBQ during our stay and you were very accomodating (thank you!). We used the Cottage as a home base and then did day trips to the 1000 Islands, Niagara Falls, the numerous beaches and ultimately left Upstate for afew days in NYC. We had a great time, were very comfortable and sincerely wish to thank you for the enjoyable stay. This is a great "time-out" location and we will ever cherish our Family time on the pond.

Amazing and newly remodeled

  • 5 of 5

My fiancé and 2 boys truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cottage. All of the water toys, paddle boat, and amenities made it a wonderful get away. There was nothing we needed that wasn't already on site. Other than our food. Truly enjoyed how close it was to everything around including our family. We will be staying here again in the near future. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your gem.

Nice but not truly pet friendly

  • 3 of 5

I stayed in this cottage with my husband and two other friends for two nights. The cottage itself was SUPER clean and beautiful. It was fairly close to the lake as advertised, however, the access to the lake itself was on the landlord's property along with the hub tub and ALL the water toys such as paddle, kayaks and other items. This can be an uncomfortable setting since the owner of the property is right next to you! Although they are very nice and accommodating.

We also brought our two dogs (medium and small sizes). Despite the fact that the cottage is listed as pet friendly, pets are not allowed to be left unattended in the cottage. We have rented several pet friendly properties throughout the world using VRBO, and this is the first time we ever heard of such an odd rule. If you have pets and you want to explore the area, for example, go to restaurants, wineries, fishing or even go to the grocery store, this is NOT the place for you since your pet must be with you at all times.

Owner's Response: We are very concerned about the well being of the animals that stay in our cottage. Pets left unattended are not allowed, for their safety and comfort and out of respect for neighbors who might be subjected to barking for long periods. There is no outdoor enclosed area for dogs. Pets are welcome only with permission and after agreeing to the terms of the pet addendum to the rental contract.

The property is spacious and well kept. The interior of the house is sparkling clean and beautiful.

  • 4 of 5

My husband, two daughters and I had a really nice time over Labor Day weekend. The house was perfect for our needs. We enjoyed morning paddle-boat rides, afternoons at the Sandy Island Beach, and an after dinner dip in the hot tub.

If the house had been right on the water and the hot tub right on the property of this house, it would be 5 stars. Sharon and Bass were wonderful to work with and very professional.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you had a great weekend with the girls. We strive to give our guests five star accommodations and amenities without a five star price. Sharon and Bass

Sandy Pond is actually a large sheltered bay on Lake Ontario just south of the beautiful Thousand Islands region. Your cottage is just across the pond from the popular Boater's Beach where you can enjoy the calm water of the pond or the miles of sandy beaches on the lake. Make day trips to the many area attractions, relax and enjoy the wildlife. You are apt to see bald eagles.

Sandy Pond provides excellent sport fishing and the kids will catch dozens of fish on the dock. Fly fishing at Douglaston Manor, charter boat fishing, and world class salmon runs delight the fishermen.
