I have been living in the Washington DC area for over 20 years, I am a single mom and raised my daughter in this home thus I have taken pride in keeping this property meticulous. I stay in this property on occasion as well as my family. I have wonderful neighbors who I have known for years. I am a health care provider and thus lead a very busy life but I am open to answer any questions you may have and assist in making your stay in the Washington DC area a wonderful and memorable one.
michelle collins purchased this house in 1997
This home is very special to me and I enjoy the nuances this location offers. As I have also lived in 2 Boroughs of NYC and this neighborhood is reminiscent of cultural Brooklyn with beautiful brick stone homes with a family atmosphere yet many shops, cultural stops and things to do right at your fingertips.
Conveniently located that you don't need a car to eat, shop, catch a movie, sight see, enjoy a picnic in the park or take your children to play.
Our weekend in Washington DC was wonderful. The apartment was everything we could hope for. A very charming 3 bedroom that was well decorated, clean and totally furnished with all the basic necessities and more. Within walking distance to stores and restaurants. Parking is rather sparse and the ability to parallel park a necessity but we did have a space just a couple of doors down. I would recommend Michelle's apartment to anyone who wished to spend time in DC.
Great house. Prefect for our family of 6 (kids aged 7 - 20). Plenty of room for everyone to have their on space for downtime. Washer & Dryer helped us pack a little less. Kitchen saved us money on meals. Location worked great for getting to all the sites. We used UBER and the buses and the bike rentals to get around ... in addition to having our car (street parking pass worked great - no problem finding a spot). Visited a couple of restaurants and the Family Dollar store - within a short walk.
Great property! The location was awesome and easy to get around. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that the beds were too firm for my taste.
The house very comfortably accommodated our family for a DC gathering in mid-November. We had rented a car, but it was still good to know that public transit was available nearby. Large, clean kitchen and spacious dining room for people who may like to organize breakfast, etc. before setting out to see the sites. Central location in a neighborhood that seems fairly safe and well- monitored by DC police. Michelle was most gracious and helpful, quickly responding to all of our communications. We were on a bit of a budget, so this was a wonderful option vs. renting three hotel rooms for the long weekend we were there.
The Atlas Victoria proved to be an ideal, comfortable base from which to explore DC. It's an easy bus ride to the White House. If you feel like walking I think it took us around 30 minutes. A cab ride back from the National Mall area near the Capitol cost us around $9. If you want to use bicycle rentals, there's a bike station a two minute walk from the front door. The home itself is located in a vibrant neighbourhood with lots of diverse restaurants. If you want to cook for yourself, you may want to bring groceries with you as the closest grocery store is about 8 blocks. The Atlas Victoria is lovely, everything we expected with all the amenities required, the owner (Michelle) was very accommodating. We were very happy with the accommodations and we highly recommend it!
