Told there was a code to enter but was only one key hidden under deck and if lost couldn't get in so had a duplicate made and left it after we left on Wed.
Found a note warning us not to drink the water from faucet so we couldn't wash our teeth or cook with that water. They did provide a number of gallons of water for those needs. Worst part was no heat except for a wood stove that required feeding it with logs every couples of hours. With the temp forecast to be in the 40s overnights we decided it wasn't worth it to stay so left on Wed AM. However it would be good if temp was high enough that wood stove was not needed.
We do our very best to fully describe our property on VRBO. We enjoyed several weeks of guests this year. All five star reviews with the exception of this review. Unfortunately, it appears that this renter did not take the time to find a good match for their needs. As listed on the VRBO website, there was a key hidden under the deck as well as key box on the porch banister. Both key locations clearly described on the VRBO website. The fact that the water is plumbed from the lake is also listed on the website. This is not an unusual water set up for cabins such as ours. The website clearly states that the drinking water is bottled and that we provided bottled water, as we did. No heat? It says right on the website that there is no heat other than a wood stove which is very efficient to heat the cabin. Also there was a cord of wood neatly stacked outside for the renter's use as well as a stack of wood by the fireplace inside and a stack of wood on the porch. We also had a fire going in the fireplace for their arrival. A note was left indicating "more than one dish towel would be nice for a week rental". There were six dishtowels neatly stacked on the open shelves in the bathroom in clear view. We are disappointed with this traveler's review but unfortunately this traveler didn't take the time to fully review the property before booking in order to find an accommodation that fits their needs. We have renters into October that love the ambiance of the this rustic Maine cabin experience, peaceful location and the wood stove but we understand it isn't for everyone.
Quiet Quaint and Clean
Simple cabin with all you need to enjoy the lake and have creature comforts without the price tag of larger vacation homes.
Quiet and comfortable
We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! The lake was beautiful and perfect for swimming - we enjoyed the dock, float, and kayaks. There are motor boats on the lake, but most didn't come down to our end, so it was pretty quiet. Listening to the loons sing, watching the moon rise over the lake, and sitting around the fire pit - priceless! The cabin was clean and very comfortable, well appointed and tastefully furnished. The high ceiling in the living room makes for a feeling of spaciousness even in a small cabin. It is definitely not "luxury" but has the right feeling of a traditional Maine "camp." Also, we were worried that not having wifi would drive us crazy, but in fact it was the best part of the trip! Getting away from email was just what we needed!
Peace and quiet
A beautiful spot to relax, unplug and unwind. The Pond was very peaceful. No one else around all week. Just you and nature.
Woods Pond Cabin
Stunning setting, very clean lake. Well delivered rustic, cabin in the Maine Woods experience.
We all had a great time very nice and relaxing. My family spent a lot of time in the water and enjoyed the cabin. If your looking for peace of mind this is the place to go. The owners were very nice and seem to care about you.
