Home away from home
We returned from our vacation three days ago and I am missing our home away from home. The "cabin" in Kanab was perfectly located for day trips we made. It was an active vacation of hiking in the areas National Parks. We visited Bryce Canyon for a gorgeous sunrise on our first day as it was the furthest away. Our other travels took us to Zion, Lake Powell that included Horsehoe Bend and Antelope Canyon, Buckskin Glutch, and the Best Friends animal sanctuary right in Kanab. We took advantage of the Bureau of Land Management and Kanab information center to receive valuable updates on the areas hiking conditions. Some areas require a permit and it is important to plan those before you leave home.
I say "cabin" because it is not what I picture with that word. The photos on the website are spot on. We were a group of six adults and had plenty of room. Because we came home exhausted each day, we never took advantage of the enormous rec room on the lower level! Having a centrally located home made it easy to pack up sandwiches and snacks for the day. We also enjoyed the fabulous kitchen for cooking our breakfast and dinner using the grill. Only thing missing were ice trays and a wine bottle opener. We managed, and even left some new ice trays for the next visitors.
And a big thank you to Ransom and Nyla for being response prior to our departure when I sent numerous Emails for information about our stay.
We stayed here for a weekend getaway after a very difficult year and it was just what we needed. The cabin is super clean and has everything you could need for your stay. The views are beautiful and it is so quiet during the day and at night. We loved the kitchen and living room and spent one day just relaxing with a fire, reading books and playing games. The beds were super comfortable and the showers had plenty of water pressure. We would definitely stay here again.
Thank you so much for the lovely review. We enjoy playing the games and just reconnecting as a family too. We would so love to have you back for a little R & R again sometime!
Overall the house is nice, the great room is beautiful but no tv
We rented for our family group of 12. I was a little surprised to find that the separate building shown in photos is not the bunkhouse and has nothing to do with what we rented. Also surprised that upstairs living area has only 1 bedroom and the master bath is inside there. So the remaining bedrooms (2) are in the cellar, and the bunkroom is attached to the cellar. So 10 people sharing 1 full bath was truly ridiculous.
Very poor lighting downstairs so we all had to use flashlights to go thru our clothes piles each day, and no bureaus for clothes anywhere. No working TV anywhere unless you want to stream from your computer. Kitchen pots and pans very poor quality. House is decorated nicely and has enough roaming room. We loved the outside firepit but it was too windy most nights.
We appreciate your feedback.
The photos clearly show that the Bunkroom is off the game/TV room downstairs. The separate building is a garage with an unfinished apartment and is never rented.
The home has three bathrooms. One upstairs with the Master bedroom and one downstairs with the two bedrooms. There is also a powder room with a toilet off the family room upstairs.
The downstairs is not a cellar but a full walk out basement. All the bedrooms and bunk room have large windows including a large sliding glass door that face the fire pit area and provide a lot of natural light into these areas. In addition, there are two fan lights in the bunkroom alone. All the pictures on the sight are taken with the natural light available. The remaining area downstairs is a game/TV room. It has two light fixtures with 3 lights each and two four foot windows that allow natural light into the room. Having over 1,000 guests stay in our home, we have not had one complaint about the lighting in bedrooms downstairs.
The pots and pans are Revereware and we have several additional glass casserole dishes available. Again, no one has ever complained about the quality or quantity of the cookware before.
Each of the bedrooms have large closets to hang up clothes. The Master Bedroom has a full walk in closet with shelving and a large dresser.
The TV downstairs has a new, large Smart TV and NetFlex is provided for free for all guests. In addition, there is Hulu, Amazon, many other services available for those who have accounts. There is a DVD player and Redbox outlets just minutes away. Finally, we provide an HDMI cable for those who want to stream shows or games from their own devices. Even though we provide several options for entertainment, we find most guest want to enjoy the beauties of Southern Utah.
Amazing home and owners!
We were blessed to meet the owners and they made us feel like family. I highly recommend this home away from home. God bless Nyla and Ransome.
Thank you so much for the five star rating! It is always a treat to meet our wonderful guests that we are sharing our home with. We so appreciate that you left the home in beautiful shape as though it were your own and it was a pleasure to meet and talk with you. We would love to have you visit again sometime.
It was beautiful, spacious, .. so clean. Location was perfect to go to Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon. Zion about 45 min away, Bryce 90 min and Grand Canyon almost 2 hours. Recommend this to anyone with family/ place is ready for large group. All the little extras like coolers, slow cooker, things to make our day trips comfortable. Beds comfortable. Exceptionally clean- I could mention that a few times- like it was never used before. We felt it was incredible and made our trip!
Thanks so much for the lovely review. We work really hard on the cleaning...so appreciated the respect you showed our property. Hope you visit again sometime!
Nice cabin-perfect location
Our family of 6 stayed here July 25- August 1. Beautiful cabin as the pictures show. Very spacious and quiet. Nice location for national parks and hiking. Honeys grocery store 10 minutes away asking with gas and a nice outfitters in Kanab. Only 2 full baths, so if you did use the bunk house ( we didn't, but got to look at-- very nice with lovely bunk beds-- you might consider the shower situation.) It took a while for all six adults in our party to shower after a long day of hiking. Plenty of towels and a washing machine and dryer if needed. Beautiful view. We had a couple of glitches with the stay, but were able to fix because of my husband. A nice home away from home!
Kanab has a nice swimming pool and park plus many other water activities take place at Lake Powell.
Additional pricing information
The extra 10 beds in the bunk room are an additional charge of $70.00 per night. Once the bunk room is requested the owner will add that fee to the quote. Ask about discounts during specific times of the year.
