About Louis Bischoff

Louis and Molly have been married since 2007. Louis was brave enough to move from Mobile, AL - into "Molly's" world in New Orleans. In addition to being the "Renovators" for this beautiful historic home, we are raising our amazing daughter, along with 1 dog, 4 cats and a goose named "Begneit"

Louis Bischoff purchased this studio in 1995

Why Louis Bischoff chose Uptown

I knew it when I first saw the house. It needed my attention, and I wanted to give it. You can get away from the city and still be in the city. Depending on the wind, the sounds of the street car, river boats and train remind me that my house is located near the River. Carrollton was laid out by Charles Zimpel in 1833, and annexed by New Orleans in 1874.

What makes this studio unique

I can hide from Mardi-Gras up here, or venture out and join the fun within a 15 minute street car ride.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Truly is a Sanctuary

  • 5 of 5

I recently spent four nights at the Sanctuary and could not have been more pleased! The location was perfect to be close to the campus of Tulane but also to explore the areas of Oak Street and Maple Street. Audubon park was also an easy walk away. The apartment was well furnished, equipped with everything you might need and very clean! Quiet and cozy made it perfect! Thank you!

Comfy, cozy place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Great find--cheerful and comfortable-- tucked into a charming neighborhood. We enjoyed having morning coffee on the porch and strolling around to find fun local restaurants and shops. Very close to both Loyola and Tulane Universities and easy access to the St. Charles streetcar. Thank you for having us!

The Sanctuary lives up to its name :-)

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to relax and unwind!

I drove my son to Loyola from CA and we'd spent 8 days on the road taking in a few extra sights along the way, and it was so nice for me to have a "home base" close to school and to all the great uptown restaurants.

It turned out that he was pretty much moved in to his dorm by 9:30 that first day, so I had a couple days there all to myself before facing the long drive back. The soothing décor and quiet location did a great job of taking away all that unwanted stress.

I can heartily recommend this location to any Tulane or Loyola parents or small families, and to anyone who wants to stay in Uptown/Carrollton and would like to wake up and go to bed surrounded by a genuine NOLA vibe :-)

Owner's Response: We enjoy providing a comfortable space for all of our New Orleans visitors, and yes, our location is perfect for parents and their children who are attending either Loyola or Tulane University.
