Great for Graduation

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for three nights on the occasion of my daughter's graduation from Binghamton University. It was wonderful to have this quiet, slow-paced rental to come back to after the hustle and bustle of commencement activities. The farmhouse has been in the Howland family for decades, and it is well and lovingly maintained. The house and grounds are immaculate. Host John is a walking encyclopedia and we enjoyed hearing about the geology, history, and economy of the area. He even provided a fire pit and laid the fire for us one evening; we so enjoyed sitting around the fire, chatting and singing after a long day. It was the perfect way to relax! And we left with fresh rhubarb grown right on the grounds. Thank you for your lovely home and generous hospitality.

This property and the host and the Gail are some of the nicest people we've come across in a long time.John is practically a historian on the knowledge of the farm and surrounding area.i was only there for one night but planning a return to listen to John and explore the area. The guys worked in the Area and stayed almost 2 weeks they really enjoyed this farm one thing for sure is that it's a well kept farm house and very comfortable Gail even made the guys a rhubarb pie! Thank you so much for your hospitality

The farm is a wonderful place to stay. John does everything in his power to make sure all of your needs are met. Very relaxing and comfortable. We have stayed there twice and would most certainly return.

Wonderful place to forget about the rat race

  • 4 of 5

We arrived late, John was still up and waiting for us. It was nice to go outside at 2am and see the Milky Way. I haven't been able to see that where I live in years with all of the light pollution. The screened in porch was a pleasure to use, a warm breeze and all of the sounds of the wildlife will quickly get you relaxed, we even had a visitor of our own from Brooklyn, who found himself having a hard time keeping his eyes open. He was surprised at how peaceful and quite it was there. Visiting he cabin on the mountain top was the highlight of the day we left. We broke the top of the hill, and two very large bucks turned and ran away, it was a terrific sight. The house is a throwback to the farming days, while the cabin steps even further back. So relaxing and peaceful. If we ever have a chance to stay again, we would love to have John host us again.

Thank you for your hospitality and for sharing not only your family home, but also the stories that go with it. We truly enjoyed ourselves. The weekend was far too short.

Beautiful property with accommodating owners

  • 5 of 5

The Howland farm is a gorgeous, scenic, relaxing getaway. The farm is peaceful and serene, with lots of land to explore, and at night, you can see the stars. The owners are very communicative and accommodating and have struck the perfect balance of being accessible without being intrusive. We had a large group, and Julia, John, and the rest of the Howland family were very willing to work with us and our specific requests/needs. Amazing location, and great property owners to work with.
