About Faye Gibson
My parents built their retirement home in Apalachicola when they discovered "the forgotten coast" in the 1970s. When I assumed management of the house, I completely rebuilt the house (2010) taking it down to the studs inside and out. It is now a completely updated, solar-powered (on the grid), energy-efficient modern hideaway.
Faye Gibson purchased this House in 1974
Why Faye Gibson chose Apalachicola
This beautiful, quiet part of Florida has grown into a beautiful tourist destination combining history, fishing, and a sense of place. Sitting out on the dock surrounded by water, one experiences peace and serenity while stress and pain drop away. If one has the choice to be here, why would anyone choose anywhere else?
What makes this House unique
The house is simple but elegant and about the closest thing to living outdoors while having all the luxuries of home. The barrier between inside and out nearly disappears allowing you to experience the natural beauty at each time of day.

BEST HOUSE BEST VACATION !!
So much to say about this house and the owner Faye. I have rented many homes and this by far was the best. Besides the 3 million dollar view, the house is clean, quiet and comfortable. The pictures do not do it justice. So well kept and everything we needed was provided from beach towels to bathrobes. Cannot say enough about what this house/ property has. The only thing Apalachicola is missing is Me. Nice town, great people, multiple shops and great food. Must go to Owl Tap Room ( duck confit fries- to die for) Loved the Marina at Scipio Creek. Loved the Bowery and the Ice House. Stay away from Bangkok Bistro- Chinese food???? Not good. Faye was available for questions and left us to our own when needed. We appreciated that. Book this house you will not want to leave. We didn't. Till me meet again. Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!
Relaxing and quiet.
If you want peace and quiet with a beautiful view and a home to match this is the place. We love it here.
I'm so happy you enjoyed your stay again this year. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
We absolutely loved this place. The view from the house is stunning. All the amenities are there. There is lots of privacy. We wish we could keep it a secret, but this is the place to stay in Apalachicola, FL. We will do this again.
And am so pleased that you have chosen to return in a few months. Your photos taken while you were here are gorgeous! With your permission I will add them to the site for others to enjoy. I always feel I'm as close to heaven on Earth as I can come when I'm out on the dock.
This is an amazing place. Everything in the previous positive reviews is true. If you like nature it's the Garden of Eden. We had daily visits from an old tortoise who was on the patio looking in the window our first morning and as I was packing to leave a bald eagle lit in the pine tree to watch. In between there was an amazing array of birds, butterflies, porpoises and other critters. When you are there you seem isolated but at least once a day we walked to the business section in town through the beautiful historic district . My wife says to say that interior of the house is completely updated, upscale, beautiful and functional.
I'm delighted that you enjoyed your stay, Frank, and so glad all the "neighbors" stopped by to say hello. Having my guests describe the remarkable vibe makes me sound a little less like Dr. Dolittle! I look forward to your return.
How can I keep this a secret?
Absolutely loved my stay and it was even better than anticipated. Private, peaceful, and beautiful. The water views were awesome and I loved the eagles soaring overhead while the dolphins swam out by the dock. I caught a few fish and one blue crab. Sometimes at night I would wake up to a million stars and the chug of a shrimper going by. I loved Apalach as well and the people are super friendly. Great little restaurants and cafes, art galleries. I spent most of my time walking and biking and drinking a glass of wine at sunset. I can't wait to come back next year!
Great place on the water!
Eclectic mid century house. Quiet. Lovely water views especially from the dock. Two main bedrooms at opposite ends of the house. Great privacy for two couples. Walkable to downtown and adjacent to best neighborhood in town.Would definitely stay again.
From the dock, you catch spectacular sunrises and breathtaking sunsets. Porpoises frolic off the end of the dock and there is afavorite perch for a pair of bald eagles about 100 feet from the door. Lovely shopping, restaurants, bakery, chocolatier and a very good coffee shop are about a mile away in the downtown area.
Nearby are the beautiful white sand beaches and turquoise water of St. George Island, a barrier island, to the east and St Joe State Park to the west where you can sun and swim and beach comb.
Golf cart rentals are available downtown if you prefer to park your car and be eco-friendly during your stay.
