Is the Hacienda for your holiday the right choice?
Your satisfaction is very important to us. Therefore, below are some points that you should consider before booking:
- For younger children, the Hacienda is only suitable as there is through the hillside and vineyards many levels. The pool is not designed to use for young children. Families with children are still welcome to join us. But you should check the circumstances described in peace ahead.
- The heating our pool is done by solar energy. Thus we reach temperatures between 18-25 degrees with good sunlight. A guaranteed bath temperature, we can not guarantee. For this reason, the heating is of course free of charge.
- Even if some photos may give a different impression we are not a 'luxury holiday resort' but a biologically-run winery with cottages.
- We strive our guests to make their stay as pleasant as possible and offer various services that go beyond a normal holiday house standard. The availability of these offers, we ask you to check individually in advance.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need more information to us.
We manage our vineyard along biological lines in cooperation with the successful winemakers Don Angel who has already won several international awards and prizes with its outstanding red wines. In 2011, we have 300 bottles filled with completely hand-picked grapes Listán Prieto exclusively for our guests. Have a fun-filled walking or bathing day relaxing by the pool or on the roof terraces with a fine glass of our own wine bar.
Harvesting & Enjoy:
The vineyard flourishes and grows almost throughout the year. While impressed with the almond blossoms from mid-January to mid-February, followed in March, the fruit trees are blossoming in April / May begin the first fruits to ripen. There are growing apricots, figs, lemons, peaches, plums, apples, pears, strawberries and of course, the sugar-sweet grapes. Until well into November, you can use our abundant fruit trees. An own herb garden makes the whole year tasteful ingredients in the kitchen.

We are happy to provide you with experienced hiking guide who can show you the most beautiful hikes on La Palma. Our walks through the mystical laurel forests, to the holy dragon trees, through mysterious gorges, on the bizarre crater rim and the sea. The highlight is the round trip through the stunning world inside the world's largest erosion crater, the "Caldera de Taburiente", home of the last king of the "Guanches". Again and again we are here to meet the footsteps of the natives. La Palma is a very powerful volcanic island that touches our heart and all my senses responds. A special vacation experience.

Beautiful location, there are a couple of properties to stay in however each were very private and not overlooking each other. Most of the time we thought we were all alone on the side of a mountain above the clouds. The property was very clean and well equipped (everything we needed for a self catering holiday and even a Kettle), the grounds were well kept by Benjamin and Christian, very knowledgeable of the area and Benjamin even helped us with the telescope and pointed out Saturn, Mars and another Galaxy.
We hiked during the day; there are some lovely walks from high crater edges to green forestry paths, and then relaxed by the pool in the afternoon; very comfortable furniture around the pool. The pool has a heating system (took the edge of a cold pool) very refreshing in the heat.
We ate a couple of times in the nearby restaurant (not walkable) Briesta very reasonable price at 30 euros for two people (main meal, glass of wine and 2 beers), very friendly and I would recommend the spare ribs.
We were recommended to hire a Fiat Panda 4x4 and we were glad we took the advise, driving around the island up and down the mountain side the Panda was small, very nippy and handled the corners well.
We had an amazing holiday, we would recommend this property to everyone.
My family and I had a fantastic five night stay here in August, we stayed in El Refugio . I had come to La Palma for astronomy and the skies at the Hacienda were quite breathtaking. The altitude of the Hacienda meant that every night we were there it was clear - clouds were visible at lower altitudes. There was also a 10" Dobsonian telescope available which I was able to use for 2-3 nights.
The facilities were excellent, well equipped and clean and we were welcomed by Joachim who took plenty of time to show us around. The Hacienda is indeed secluded and whilst getting there isn't too hard a reasonably powerful vehicle is recommended! We made heavy use of Cafe Briesta, about a half hour walk down the hill (just 5-10 minute drive). It seemed to be open all the time and was a convenient source of coffee... the children loved the pool which was never crowded as the total number of people in the area at any one time is quite low.
For any astronomers thinking of going, do so. There are lights around the facilities that get turned off fairly soon after dark and the skies are incredible. The Roque de Los Muchachos was a 45-50 minute drive from the Hacienda but at 4500ft altitude you don't need to go any higher for crystal clear skies... the clouds seem to form, and stay, lower down.
I would go back there in an instant if I could and stay there - the available internet connection meant that for all the seclusion, if you wanted, you could be in touch with the outside world.

The Canarian winery Hacienda La Palma is located on the sunny west side of the island in an absolutely unique sole and quiet location above Punta Gorda.
