This is where I grew up, a small home on a two acre apple orchard, where the creek is just steps from the backyard deck. Two bedrooms; one bathroom; well-equipped kitchen with breakfast nook overlooking the creek; washer/dryer; dining room; living room with the backyard deck off it, which also overlooks the year-round creek.
The house is an hour from the casinos & nightlife of Reno or travel 75 miles to the charm of Truckee, and from there 15 additional miles will take you to the shores of Lake Tahoe. But the real treat is the beauty of our own county, Plumas, where outdoor opportunities abound, including golfing: Plumas County was recently voted the 15th 'Best Place for Golfers to Retire' and the Whitehawk Ranch Golf Club was listed as one of the best places (4.5 stars) to play by Golf Digest and one of the Graeagle courses, Graeagle Meadows, is listed as the 5th best in California!
Or how about hiking, biking, kayaking? Just 20 minutes from the home is the Lakes Basin Recreation Area, dominated by many beautiful lakes and the Sierra Buttes. This is a place where the trails are graced by beautiful lakes, rivers, streams & waterfalls and dominated by impressive rock faces, including those of the magnificent Sierra Buttes. The Pacific Crest Trail runs right through here and then on into Lassen County. Lassen County, where you will find Lassen Volcanic National Park, one of the less crowded National Parks and a real beauty.
You will also be 20 miles from Bucks Lake, a local favorite. There are 3 resorts located at the lake, all with restaurants and one of which, Lakeshore Resort, has a deck where you can enjoy your meal looking out over the water. Weekends at the lake are often replete with live music. There are also boat and stand-up paddleboard rentals at the resorts.
So, whether you get here by traveling up the sleepy & quite lovely Feather River Canyon on Scenic Highway 70 or if you travel here coming North over I-80, traveling through the awe-inspiring Donner Pass and then turning west on Highway 89 (my favorite local road), you will have come to a slice of paradise.
Truly not enough can be said about the beauty of Plumas County, come experience the tranquility.
We will definitely stay there again if we are in the area. Comfortable bed in master but it's up on stilts and a little wobbly. Other than that, everything was great. Kitchen had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our time
My family enjoyed our stay at Creekside. Barbara made sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable.
What a beautiful retreat... set beside a stream in the Sierras. Thanks Barbara for your wonderful hospitality. We hope to come again soon!!!
This was the perfect getaway. We were on a long road trip and Barbara was so charming and left us some goodies and even a welcome sign saying aloha since she knew we were coming from Hawaii. The house was incredible , The sounds of the creek delightful… Everything was above and beyond anything we had expected and would recommend this for anyone passing through that way
We arrived after a long plane and car journey and felt like we were welcomed back to our childhood home. Barbara had ensured that everything you might need is at hand and left us notes with several suggestions for outings that she took the time to customize for us.
The home is interesting, clean and comfortable and the creekside chairs afford a welcome retreat. A special treat is watching the antics of the family of deer that reside in the adjoining orchard.
i regretted leaving for the remainder of our journey and hope to visit again for a longer stay in this lovely part of the world.
I whole-heartedly recommend this property.
Check In is 4pm and Check Out is 11am
Sorry but no pets. Also no smoking.
And no young children due to the creek!
