About Jay Laux
Hello Everyone, Im Jay! I grew up St Louis, have spent my career in finance, and have had the good fortune of living in San Francisco, Chicago and New York. I consider myself a mild outdoor enthusiast who enjoys skiing, hiking, trout fishing and basically just being in the mountains. I also enjoy traveling to just about anyplace with interesting architecture, food, culture and landscapes. Lately, Southern Europe seems to be a favorite. As a host I do my best to be attentive, responsive and provide a worthwhile experience and as a guest I try to be respectful, aware and someone I'd want to have in my own home. I really appreciate the Air bnb community and look forward to the many experiences ahead!
Why Jay Laux chose Rochester
Rochester has everything you'd expect from a quaint New England mountain town. Six ski areas within 45 min drive. Fly fishing, golf, hiking, cross country skiing, mountain biking , river tubing etc. Lovely village with town square and white steeple church. Organic bakery and bookstore, charming couple owned bistro, country café with old school soda fountain, plus an historic inn/restaurant with tavern serving excellent craft beer. Art gallery, bike shop and full grocery store.
What makes this House unique

Perfect Week
We had a wonderful experience at this lovely home - the photos are more than accurate! Morning coffee looking out over the fields, watching the fog burn off was our favorite. The house had everything we needed - the kitchen was well-stacked with good knives and pots and pans of every shape; the beds were very comfortable; lots of books, puzzles and board games; black-out shades (key for the kids' rooms!); and everything thoughtfully designed. The rural locale was just what we wanted as a respite from the city - great hikes close by, kayaking on the resevoir, horseback riding, sweet farmers' market on Fridays. We can't wait to come back.
Jay checked in regularly and was a pleasure to deal with. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!
Beautiful retreat
Beautiful modern farmhouse in a meadow. Views of mountains and farms. Two bedrooms upstairs. Master downstairs. Open kitchen and living space.
Nice, clean, contemporary decor.
All kitchen appliances and cookware provided.
Very quiet.
A truly spectacular house!
We had the great pleasure to stay in this house when our son got married at nearby Satoyama Farm. Beautifully designed and appointed, this house is a joy to stay in. Its sleek lines and lack of clutter evoke a Shaker aesthetic—elegant, restful and thoroughly appropriate to the spectacular setting in Rochester, VT.
Perfect long weekend
This house is beautiful and perfect for our quiet weekend away. It has stylish decor and modern amenities but with a warm, New England feel. Heated floors are a nice touch for winter. The grounds are wide open - had fresh snow and we had a great time snowshoeing. Would be great for xcountry and sledding as well. The kitchen was awesome and well appointed. We are big cooks so we were in heaven. Jay was very responsive as was the local management company for the house. We would definitely stay again!
Beautiful, serene location
A quintessential Vermont home with amazing views and all the amenities you need. Jay was very responsive to any and all requests. We look forward to going back to this special country home to enjoy the fall foliage.
Beautiful views and inspiriting architecture
Our family of 4 enjoyed a wonderful vacation in this beautiful farmhouse. The owner was very hospitable.
Things that made the trip memorable: waking up to the fantastic view, hiking the local terrain, enjoying the books & puzzles from the house bookshelf, touring Ben & Jerry's, paddle boating at Silver Lake, and eating a delicious breakfast at the local cafe. We would certainly return to the house and the area!
