We built this year round vacation home to really get away and enjoy it with family and friends. We love the beautiful scenery of the Green Mountains in every season. We love the peacefulness that comes from being surrounded by water.
Jeff and Jackie Downes purchased this house in 2013
We chose to build in VT because we have travelled here for many years to visit family. It is so calming to leave southern New England, not have to contend with traffic to get to this serene lake home.
We chose to build a home on lake Eden because it is so clean and the views are remarkable. We love that we don't need to pack up to go to the water. It is easy living at it's best.
The house is great, lake is beautiful! We didn't have to contact the owners about anything because initial info they gave us was comprehensive and clear. Thank you for letting us stay in your house, everything was great!
We had 4 adults and we all agree we'd go back. Spacious and comfortable with an open design and great views. All the modern conveniences.Enjoyed the sun room and the deck and especially the kayaks that were included.Neighbors were all friendly.Highly recommend.
My sons and I thoroughly enjoyed renting this house with my sister and her sons over the 4th of July weekend. Lake Eden residents really know how to celebrate Independence Day; the boat parade on Saturday afternoon and fireworks on Saturday night were spectacular! The lake water was clear and warm (well, 70-ish!), the fish were biting, and the bugs -- for the most part -- were not. Truly a first rate vacation.
Specifically with regard to this property, the Downes were laid-back and easy to work with: responsive, but not intrusive. The house itself is beautiful and exceptionally well-maintained, with a lovely white kitchen and deck and an airy and welcoming feel. I made sure to arrive ahead of my sister in order to secure the best bedroom. You can save yourself the trouble: the house is situated such that both of the bedrooms have wonderful views of the water. Moreover, they are both enormous, with plenty of closet space, large windows and ceiling fans, and comfortable beds. The upper floor also has a large open office/den area, where all of the boys (ages 12-17) slept comfortably. (There is also a pullout sofa downstairs, but the cousins wanted to hang out together in one area.) I loved the screened/glassed-in side porch for morning coffee. The yard has plenty of room to play croquet and throw a baseball, football or frisbee. Fishing off the dock was not bad at all; my youngest caught a very sizable pickerel there. (We released all but the trout, which were delicious.)
I definitely recommend Lake Eden in general -- and this property in particular!
