Here are some of our favorite places nearby

1. The canal is gorgeous and a MUST on your things to do list. It is about an hour and fifteen minutes around and I would recommend seeing the whole thing since it's so beautiful and has such a variety of scenery. Hungry? I recommend the Burgerhous restaurant right on the canal. They have wonderful burgers and good pescetarian and vegetarian options.

2. I would highly recommend a walk down to Massachusetts Avenue (also called Mass Avenue).

3. Monument Circle is also a must see.

4. Indianapolis museum of art has nice exhibits and beautiful grounds. It also has a great little coffee shop.

5. For shopping you need to check out Circle City Mall downtown— it has a glass dome art area and fully reclining theater seats. Other great malls are the Fashion Mall at Keystone and Castleton Mall.

6. Another cute area to visit is Fountain Square and especially Virginia Avenue.

7. Some great restaurants I would recommend are Mesh on Mass Ave., Saint Elmo's if you really want to go all out, Union 50, and many more.

8. For Indian food: Haveli, Thai food: Bangkok, Mediterranean food: Ali Baba, Chinese: Best Taste China, Mexican: La Parada.

About Gilia Chazan

I am a world traveler, holistic practitioner and trained as a scientist. I also do some real estate investing. I love traveling to new places and stay there for a while to get to know new countries.

Gilia Chazan purchased this house in 2011

Why Gilia Chazan chose Herron Morton

I bought this house into thousand 11 and poured my heart and soul into it. Now that I live in this house sporadically I really enjoy all the design detail that I put into it. The house was built in 1872, right after the several more. I designed it to be a combination of old and modern and extremely convenient.

What makes this house unique

This is a historic neighborhood right near downtown Indianapolis. This is a beautiful walkable neighborhood and a 20 minute walk from downtown. There is ample street parking .

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is straight out of a magazine. Top notch upgrades throughout the house. The bathrooms are VERY modern and the house is well kept. The street it is on is quiet and there is ample parking for everyone in your party. We had 11 guests and one of them had a trailer. We were able to park 4 vehicles and a trailer right next to the house without hassle. The hostess, Gilia, is exceptional at communication. Day or night, she answers questions in a very reasonable time. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back next year. Thank you.

Beautiful historic home!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is immaculate. It is very close to everything in Indy. The owner was awesome! We were attending a national swim meet at the IUPUI and the location of the house was perfect. We even walked a couple of times.

The house is very spacious and we were all able to eat together and gather together to relax after each swim session.

I would certainly recommend this property.

We will be renting again when we come back to Indy.

Thank you!

spacious home perfect for large family gathering

  • 4 of 5

Very nice updated Victorian. Clean and spacious. Enough bedrooms (4 plus loft) and bathrooms (4 & 1/2) for 7 overnight guests to be extra comfortable! Kitchen / great room area accommodated a large group, yet still had a homey feel that was very appreciated (especially since we were in town mourning the unexpected passing of a brother). Cabinets were quite cluttered but we managed to find everything needed to prepare and serve dinners. Coffee maker and toaster were very basic (a surprising contrast compared to other luxury appointments!), but got the job done. Overall, we were quite satisfied. We would definitely recommend this house.

Beautiful house with an Amazing Hostess!!

  • 5 of 5

The Downtown Villa was perfect for our family and friends. The location makes the house central and within 10-15 minutes of everything in Indianapolis. The house is huge with plenty of room for several families (we had 3 families at the house with 2 other friends). The first floor kitchen/dining room/living room is a great place to hang out, and the bedrooms were very comfortable and very clean! In particular, the master bedroom and bathroom are very luxurious, and the top floor bedroom is the perfect place for a family with older kids or a big sleepover. Probably more importantly than the house is that Gilia, the owner, is an amazing hostess. She is incredibly responsive (usually got replies within a few minutes of sending an email - I have no idea how she does it), and is completely committed to making your stay perfect. We needed a few airbeds for our group, and they were there waiting for us when we got to the house, fully inflated. One time, we didn't even request a small household item, and she took it upon herself to ship it to us by Amazon. (Thanks Gilia!) I really can't express how great of a hostess Gilia is, and I am positive that if you book her house, you will be really glad you did.

Great house for big groups - totally updated and very nice.

  • 5 of 5

This very large updated home was perfect for our large group, open kitchen to dinning room and living room allowed for socializing. Nearly every area of this house was brand new. Great location, within walking distance to everything Indy or an Uber drive got us around in minutes. Neighborhood is being revitalized, we felt very safe and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this rental for anyone coming to Indy.

Average for the price

  • 3 of 5

House was nice. Owner has cameras all over the place, which was weird, though she assured me she didn't watch or record. Kitchen had grease on stove and cold coffee in pot. Since owner stayed and unloaded dishwasher, I figure she was running late with prep - but for price point, I'd recommend a cleaning service. One of the bathrooms was dirty - I even searched for cleaning supplies. Mater bedroom is lovely, but again, housekeeping average. So, house nice, owner nice, experience average. We felt like we were kicking her out of her home.

Owner's Response: Dear Margaret, thank you for letting me know and I am sorry your experience wasn't up to what I aim for my guests to have. This is my business and I take much pride in it. The security cameras have been removed. There were actually only 2, and could have easily been unplugged, which I mentioned to you and you said you did not need. I apologize for the oversight in the cleaning and this will not happen again. I asked you several times if you had any issue and you never mentioned this. It would've been handled imediately. The Villa will be as immaculate as you would expect. I did have a group leave that day and that is why I was running a little late. I will take note of your comments and make sure this never happens again. If you visit the area again I hope you stay in the Villa and I promise that the place will be in immaculate condition for your enjoyment!

Great location and beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

Our youth group was participating in a mission trip for a week, and the owner was awesome to work with and so accommodating for us. The house was perfect for our needs with a sitting area, large bedrooms, and a kitchen. It didn't take us long to get anywhere in the city. I would recommend this property and would book again!
