I love the idea of unique lodging. Why stay in a Holiday Inn when you can stay in something truly unique?
Robin Fox purchased this mill in 2011
purchased Brabson Mill in 2011. When I orginally approached the former owner, my plan was to tear down the old mill and rebuild it as my principal residence. She said that she would sell me it, but I had to buy the land and could not tear it down. After much thought I agreed. Then started the 4 year adventure of restoring it. When I purchased the property it was in very poor condition, many of the beams were rotted. It was a death trap. Slowly but surely with the help of my son ( Boston 8) and some skilled help we brought the mill back to life.
This property is a special place! It's beautiful!!!!!!
The Millstone was a fantastic place to get together as a family and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. We traveled with 9 people and had plenty of room for everyone. Kitchen was full size and very functional. The restoration of the mill and cabin were amazing and I can't say enough about the condition of the property and the attention to detail that were evident. It is a beautiful setting and if you love old post and beam construction and restoration projects that are a labor of love, this is a great place for you. It is a perfect combination of old world charm and new amenities with lots of space both indoors and out. It felt like home from the moment we walked in. We can't say enough about Robin, his attention to detail, his hospitality and the cleanliness and preparation of the property for our stay. Johnson City is close and Asheville is only about an hour away so you can venture out and return easily if you want to. The pictures do not do the mill, cabin or property justice. It is a beautiful place, a great location and a peaceful retreat. We loved our stay there.
