I am passionate about travelling, arts and Lisbon. I spent most of my childhood in this typical neighborhood before moving to Barcelona to study graphic design for three years. Our family lived in this beautiful apartment for many years, where we always welcomed those we love. We would like to share its charm, character and history with you. I am looking forward to hosting you in our family house and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
We had the greatest time in Ines' duplex, which should satisfy even the most demanding guests (we are). The appartment'interior decoration is most tasty, as the same time well equipped and well located.Ines was very welcoming and very helpful, before and during our stay, with delicate gesture such as welcoming us with coffee and a traditional Xmas brioche. She provided gracefuly all local informations we needed, and she was also flexible about departing times. To be highly recommended !
This is a beautiful place in a great location. All the nice touches waiting for us made for a really comfortable, pleasant stay. Everything worked great, and we really appreciated the transportation arranged for us!
The place was immaculate the rooms and bathrooms superb. The location is the very best in the city .Ines left some nice items such as tea , coffee, bread, juice and other stuff for us to make us feel so welcome. This is the best VRBO I have ever stayed at and I have stayed at some in Italy, Argentina and Brazil .Ideal for a family or a group of friends .Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Inês is a perfect host, attentive and helpful when needed and non-obtrusive when not. The spacious apartment combines the flavor of the old stone buildings with modern conveniences and a well-stocked library. All the amenities are close by, including shopping, museums and churches, and restaurants—there are two good ones across the street and exceptional ones nearby (we ate one night at the Mini-Bar in Chaida, one of the four owned by Portugal's most famous chef). We were four and had plenty of room to spread out. Highly recommended.
After reviewing the pictures and comparing against other properties in the Alfama we decided that this apartment exceeded our requirements. I will admit before arriving we were a bit skeptical that this property might have some hidden flaws. It just sounded to good to be true. What a pleasant surprise when we arrived to find that the apartment exceeded our expectations.
We planned on 8 nights in Portugal. We would spend 3 nights in Lisbon, travel by train to Porto for 3 nights and return to Lisbon for 2 more nights before returning to the U.S.
Laura,, the property manager, met us at the property and was very helpful showing the apartment and describing the district. Although we did not reserve the apartment for the days we would be in Porto Louise allowed us to store the things we did not want to carry on the train.
The apartment is within feet of many Fado restaurants. In the evening we strolled through the narrow winding streets of the Alfama past restaurants and bars where we heard the distinctive guitars and singers. From the apartment one can walk to many Lisbon sites. Public transportation is available throughout Lisbon, and you might like to take an evening trolly ride in antique trolly cars through the Alfama and other areas.
On the day that we left for Porto and when we left for the U.S. we called Louise and she had a cab at the front door at the precise time we wanted to depart.
We had such a pleasant time in the apartment that I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wants to experience the real Lisbon.
If you choose this property, I recommend taking a cab from the airport. The trip was about 15 euros. The train station is less than a mile from the apartment and an easy walk.
We were greeted with a cup of coffee and breakfast, which we took on the outside terrace. The bedrooms are spacious with high ceilings and are nicely furnished. The living room downstairs is enourmous and comfortable. The street behind the Se cathedral is relatively quiet, the pubs opposite serve nice food. Trams, buses and taxis only a couple of hundred yards away. Also great for evening strolls along the narrow Alfama streets.
