About Cheryl Santos

My husband Jim and I moved to Cayuga Lake in 2002 - he from Pine City NY and me from Hawaii. We both are naturally drawn to water, so Cayuga Lake was our chosen place. My husband has 3 grown children and he retired in 2012. Now our children are of the four-legged sort (we have friendly tale-wagging dogs and we invite you to bring your dogs along). We live directly across the street from the cabin and we are always available if you need anything. We take great pride in providing a clean, comfortable vacation property, and it is important to us that you have a wonderful vacation experience. We want to ensure that you’ll make memories here that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Cheryl Santos purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Cheryl Santos chose Seneca Lake

We chose Cayuga Lake for its natural beauty, the variety of things to see and do in close proximity, yet also the tranquility of country living. We envisioned building a cabin here so we could share this unique area with others, providing a comfortable retreat for our guests. We designed and built the cabin as a contemporary modern space yet with rustic charm.

What makes this cabin unique

Situated in a sunny field adjoining the woods, this log cabin is a tranquil retreat. It is very spacious for 2 – 6 people with an open floor plan, cathedral ceilings, and 2 private bedrooms. It is impeccably clean and is well equipped with most necessary items. A walking trail across the street gives you access to Cayuga Lake. The cabin is centrally located on the Cayuga Wine Trail. Nearby are hiking trails, biking paths, and quaint shops. The cabin rental costs less per person than many hotels, plus you have your own private space. The radiant floor heating warms the cabin to a cozy temperature on cool nights. It is also air conditioned for your comfort in summer months.

Great cabin

We had a great time visiting the Cayuga lake area and the cabin was very cozy and adorable. We had fun cooking in the kitchen and grilling on the grill. Played a lot of games and did a lot of hiking with the dogs and of course visiting the wineries, beautiful area!!

Terrific stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at the cabin. We were in town for Cornell's graduation and this was a perfect place for us to enjoy the Finger Lakes region. It's very near local attractions including wineries, beer gardens, etc.

Cheryl & Jim were terrific hosts and personally greeted us. The cabin was comfortable, quiet, and relaxing. Our only wish is that we could have stayed longer!

Cozy and dog-friendly!

  • 5 of 5

We booked a two-night stay at the cabin and had a wonderful time. Not only was the cabin clean and comfortable, but it was conveniently located near several wineries and beautiful scenery. Even better, we were able to take our dog! If only we had stayed longer, we would have been sure to enjoy the inviting fire pit outside while listening to the soothing sounds of the chirping crickets and trumpeting frogs. A relaxing place to enjoy nature and family, Cheryl and Jim's cabin is a perfect getaway. We look forward to coming again!

It was beautiful.

  • 5 of 5

We've never been to this part of New York before, but we immediately fell in love with it. The drive on route 89 parallel to the lake is breathtaking. Upon arrival at the cabin, I was immediately impressed. It was such a cute spot, and very well-maintained. The cabin itself was spacious and the perfect size for our family of four. The kitchen is well-stocked with anything you may need to feel right at home. The beds are comfortable and the furniture is all in great shape.

Cheryl was fantastic our whole journey, from the booking of the cabin until check-out, she answered any questions we had and even came to introduce herself after we checked in. I have never had such an amazing experience renting a house before. I hope that we get to come back in the future!

Thank you also for leaving the cabin in such excellent condition at checkout. Jim and I sincerely hope you return to stay again in the future - perhaps when you can get in some lake time fishing and kayaking. Thank you again for choosing our cabin - if you do return to stay in the future we offer a discount to repeat guests! Kind regards, Cheryl and Jim Santos

I can't say enough about Jim and Cheryl, they are truly caring and loving people that made us feel like family. We wish that we didn't have to leave but we definitely will be returning with our dogs as they are very pet friendly.

Owner's Response: You all were truly outstanding one-in-a-million guests. Jim and I both really loved having you stay and spending time with you. We really were sad to have you leave. Please do come back (with your adorable dogs) and I promise no rain next time so you can enjoy more outdoor time and evenings around the fire pit. I am so glad it worked out that you were also on the CLC Tours van for your wine trail transportation. Thank you also for the exquisite care you took of the cabin during your stay and for the beautiful note you left in our guest book. We think of you as our new friends, but it seems we have known you longer. Oh and one more thank you for the Dolle's Caramel Popcorn - it was so sweet of you to think of us - we'll never know how long its shelf life is because we ate all of it in minutes. You guys are great!
