Love country life--now I get to share this life. Surrounded by the elements, the quiet, the beauty, as one guest said, "I can hear myself think here." I agree with her. After four years, I am restored, connected--and really hate to leave this place for just about any reason other than visiting those I love.
Necessities have changed--now I use a tractor, live with chickens, heat with wood. I love to hike, yet my miles have decreased as I spend time bringing in wood for the next season. I like it this only growing a few vegetables as I have a day job, I relish putting up dried apples, harvesting wild plants for fun special meals, and knowing the farmers from whom I buy produce and meat.
And, when eight years old on my first camping trip, I immediately aspired to be a park ranger when I grew up. Now I am that park ranger, acting as naturalist, caretaker, and protector for these forests and animals.
Today I host others, and witness their easier breathing, delight in changing skies, awe when hearing hooting owls. My park ranger persona sighs with satisfaction. And, my guests get to shop at the local farm stand for truly local food. They have the opportunity to soak in the large cast iron tub, gazing into the forest--another life passion, I have put soaking tubs in every home.
A soaking tub and immersion in nature--that about sums me up.
Sounds corny but I find this true--a joy shared is a joy doubled.
Here is one of my life mottos that has not yet failed me--why bother unless it's fun?
Owner / Property Manager purchased this house in 2011
I chose this property because of the land. The house was adequate when I first moved here. Then I began working on its "feng shui." Put in a soaking tub, created a new entryway, remodeled the kitchen to include my favorite granite work tops, a vent, an enamel sink. Add to that, I bring in the firewood from my property, and when you create warmth in the winter, it comes right from the land.
Thank you for the review--the first with VRBO, and I much appreciate your feedback. I do indeed have photos of the downstairs bedroom to add as soon as possible. You were gracious guests--contributing to the joy and warmth of the house and land. Come back any time!
We loved our stay here over the holiday weekend. The home was completely secluded and well appointed with a great deck and firepit. We hiked Putney Mt., Grafton Village and even made the drive up Equinox in Manchester. Enjoyed lounging on the deck and BBQ'ing every night. Can't wait to come back!
We had a wonderful weekend at Lynn's home. The open concept made it great for both hanging out on the deck, cooking dinner, and just general relaxing. The soaking tub was amazing, and gave the impression that you were having a bath in the woods! I highly recommend this property!
Our family of 5 had a wonderful stay at the Cabin in the woods. The pictures represent the house well but the scale surprised us as the rooms were much larger than the photos suggest. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook all we wanted to as well as host a couple of dinners with 10 in attendance. It was lovely having the wood stoves to heat the house however the downstairs bedroom was chilly as it is usually heated with the hot air of the furnace....not really a problem as a space heater was provided if you wanted to use it. A couple of pictures of the downstairs bedroom and bathroom would have been handy in planning. However the room was nice and served our purpose well.
We didn't have snow which was a disappointment as we had hoped to enjoy some skating and skiing, however we were delighted to find that there was a wood road that left right from the house for a nice walk to the power lines and trails beyond. The homeowner also had a book of hiking trails in the area which was very handy in discovering other walks in the area.
The house is lovely and well maintained and we had a lovely stay.
Thank you for sharing your home with us.
