About the property

3 Bed, /2 Bath, Spectacular Views, Waterfront, Close to Town, Sandy Swim Ar

B's at Sea is located on the Ocean Point peninsula. Linekin Bay is to the west, and the Damariscotta River to the east. Perched high on a cliff overlooking the

river and ocean, B's at Sea is a soothing retreat away from the bustle of Boothbay Harbor, yet close enough to enjoy all of its amenities. Newly updated and comfortably appointed for up to 8 guests, with 2 full bathrooms, new washer & dryer, gas grill, full kitchen with dishwasher, lobster feasting equipment, deck, all new bedding, pillows, linens, towels and beach towels, new furnishings, high speed wi-fi, cable tv, shared association sandy (at low tide) swim and picnic area 3 doors away, suitable for launching your canoe or kayak.

One queen bedroom, second bedroom with two twins, pull-out queen sofa bed, (with 2" foam topper for extra comfort) and new loft, accessed by a ship-type ladder, (spring 2016) which sleeps two on a full sized futon.

A distant foghorn or the lapping surf may lull you to sleep at night. The murmur of lobster boat engines will likely be the first sounds of the morning. The sun rises early in Maine, and so do many of the lobstering-folk! It is a pleasant, calming hum, however.

The enormous stone fireplace warms the cottage on cool nights. Firewood and starter logs provided. Several games, books, and magazines as well as family DVDs, are kept at B's at Sea for guests to enjoy.

Those more agile may get down to the water's edge and sit on the rocks, but it is somewhat of a challenging descent! Please exercise caution, and supervise children carefully. We will continue to improve the property in order to make the trek easier, and will update the listing accordingly.

One of our best experiences with a vacation rental

  • 5 of 5

It has everything you would want in terms of the Maine experience. The house was welcoming (right down to the kitchen staples that we didn't bring,) and there were so many "spaces" to enjoy both indoors and out. It is located on a peninsula that afforded us places to canoe, bike, and walk, as well as access to Boothbay Harbor and all its activities. Beth was very helpful at each stage of the reservation process, and it was a opportunity to travel on a neighbor to neighbor basis.

Lovely coastal Maine cottage

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I had a lovely stay in late September. The cottage has wonderful views of the Damariscotta river and out towards the bay and open ocean. We spent hours sitting on the deck and enjoying the view. The location is fantastic with a nice little beach area down the road and a short drive into Boothbay center. The living area was wonderfully decorated and Beth has the cottage stocked perfectly for guests with towels and kitchen supplies-everything a guest could need.

A few areas for improvement

-views are very nice but landscaping is pretty rough and could really use some work, there is a lot of potential for the yard.

-the lower deck was recently patched up but needs some more work, the rail is not sturdy.

-while the decorating is very tasteful and thoughtful, particularly the lovely main room, some areas such as bathroom and kitchen need updating for the price range...

Overall: Fantastic coastal cottage with lovely views. We had a great time and would both return in the future and recommend to friends and family! Thanks Beth!

Coastal Cottage Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Honestly, words cannot express the feeling of happiness and contentment my family felt while staying here. The owner has a gift of decorating and designing in a way that made this cottage feel like it was our own! She has thought of everything you might need to make your stay the most enjoyable. The views from almost every room and window are just gorgeous! There are five in our family and there was plenty of room. The location is amazing, tucked away, yet so close and convenient to shopping and dining. We also saw quite a bit of wildlife and sealife while having coffee each morning and cocktails each evening right on the properties deck! Seals playing, an eagle landing in a nearby tree and deer walking in the yard. I just can't say enough good things about this lovely cottage and I hope to return next summer!

Relaxing Stay at This Well-Cared-For Gem

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our adult daughter were absolutely delighted with our entire stay at Bee's. The house was meticulously clean and amply stocked, and the grounds thoughtfully cleared just enough to enhance the water views and yet maintain a wooded, private setting. The location could not have been more ideally located, with convenient access to groceries, restaurants and downtown Boothbay Harbor, yet far enough to get a sense of "being away from it all." We slept with the cool evening breezes coming through the windows and awoke to the birds chirping and rarely heard human noises other than our own. Sitting out on the balcony reading in the warm sun with cool breezes and sounds of the water and the birds was nothing short of idyllic and utterly relaxing. The views of the water are spectacular, enhanced by the majestic beauty of the surrounding pine trees. It's evident the owners not only care for their property, but enjoy it themselves, as it's well stocked for cooking and living. We loved being able to pop down to East Boothbay General Store for lattes and lobster roll, get groceries from Hannaford's, and one evening we discovered a delightful market in Boothbay Harbor where we selected grass-fed meats and local fish which the proprietor cooked up for us on his grill to take back to the house, complete with homemade side dishes. Lobsterman's Wharf, just a few minutes from the house, serves up a fabulous lobster and the freshest cod I've ever eaten (and I'm from New England originally). We did yoga at a lovely little studio in Boothbay Harbor - one of the friendliest I've been to. We'd planned to do more excursions, as there's so many places to hike and roam, yet were completely satisfied to spend most days reading and relaxing outside in the idyllic setting. Much gratitude to Beth for providing this wonderful sanctuary.

Great weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

As this was late in the season, we were really happy that Beth opened her house up to us. As we got out of the car, the kids were already running and playing in the yard. We just decided to sit in the chairs and take in the fresh air and amazing views. There are great views from every room in the house, especially when you are sitting on the couch playing a little family UNO. Our 11 year old daughter loved the loft area to relax and sleep in. You will enjoy this great cottage overlooking the Boothbay area. Close to downtown but far enough out to feel like you are on your own island.

About Beth G.

My husband and I bought this cottage in June of 2015 and spent the summer renovating and restoring it. It had been unoccupied for quite some time, and had become dated and overgrown. I grew up in Maine, and have many wonderful memories of Boothbay Harbor as a child, not to mention worked during summer months waiting tables at several fine establishments in the area.

Beth G. purchased this cottage in 2015

Why Beth G. chose Boothbay

East Boothbay is classic Maine. The small village, general store, post office, historic shipyard, and shingled summer cottages make this part of the region extraordinarily special and iconic. Once again, you are close to the harbor, but also far enough to get away from the crowds!

What makes this cottage unique

It was apparent through the overgrowth, that the water views were fantastic, and that the place really just needed some attention. Lobster boat engines can be heard early in the morning right outside the windows, as the bright, eastern sunshine pours in!

The high level of boating traffic yields something interesting to watch at all times. Whether it be lobster fishing, sailing regattas, large luxury vessels, sightseeing cruises, or persoal watercraft, on a sunny day it is constant.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Beth G. asked me to write a few words about our stay at her house last fall.

When I was there, the trees had not quite turned. It was my first time to the Boothbay Harbor area and I was so impressed. This property is very private but also convenient to the town of Boothbay Harbor. When you are in the living room of the house, you feel like you are surrounded by water. The pictures on VRBO don't really do it justice. Though the house is just around 900 sf, it's very smartly laid out and feels quite spacious.. The kitchen was very well equipped and lacked nothing. We walked down to the little cove area (about 5 minutes from the house) and really enjoyed romping around on the rocks. We also took a short drive to Ocean Point and walked along a very scenic stretch of road. There is a decent amount of boat traffic on the water in front of the house and that was very entertaining. I would highly recommend this house for anyone looking for a clean, comfortable and cozy place with gorgeous coastal views. Thank you so much -- we are looking forward to coming back soon!

Boothbay Harbor is the quintessential Maine coastal community. Combining a commercial fishing harbor with arts and tourism creates a fun and lively atmosphere. Breathtaking natural scenery of evergreen covered islands, rocky cliffs and ledges, and bold, crashing surf abound in the region. Many shops, restaurants, boating excursions, and entertainment options to choose from. Whale watches, island tours, lobster bakes, art galleries, or just sitting pier-side and enjoying the boating activities all around.

East Boothbay provides a more relaxed pace, while still being a convenient 4 miles to the action of the Harbor. Renowned Ocean Point of East Boothbay enjoys absolutely spectacular views, and is one of the oldest summer colonies in Maine. Several restaurants are located along Ocean Point Road, (route 96) as well as art galleries and scenic walks.
