Molokai is the most Hawaiian island and it is what Kauai used to be some 60 years ago: tranquil and undisturbed in its natural beauty; there are two highways: one from north east to south east; another one from east to west. There are 2 or 3 car companies near the airport and one in Kaunakakai.
There are a few eateries,, a hotel, one grocery store, one gas station, a local museum, a farmers market, fishponds and a paradise for the outdoors, pristine rainforests with waterfalls, finest sand beaches, hiking and so much more.
Visit Molokai's finest beaches -- Papohaku, Kepuhi and Kawakiu, which are some of the very best sand beaches of Hawaii; Eat at Kualapuu Cookhouse where baby back ribs with homemade guava-barbecue sauce are just a mere hint of the offerings, come for the Luau at the Molokai Hotel while watching the sunset.
Molokai Shores is a spectacular beach resort in Molokai, Hawaii blending in perfectly with nature around it. My condo is on the 2nd floor with 1 bedroom, 1 bath, a kitchen and living room, fully furnished with all amenities and a lanai opening to the ocean. The resort offers housekeeping services, laundry facility and hair dresser;
There is a gated community pool right near the ocean, BBQ, picnic tables, tennis and kayaking. You have marvelous views to the island of Lanai, just across the channel and to the left you’ll see the island of Maui.
Visit the Lepra colony in Kalaupapa either on mule, by helicopter, or hiking, absorb the view of the majestic Na Pali, stop at the chapel dedicated to Father Damien, or take short flights to the other islands, become part of organized trips for fishing and snorkeling, bicycling all over the island, explore the old fishponds where fish were raised only for the high Alii. And watch the most exquisite, breathtaking sunsets from the lanai during the fall months, observe wales as they migrate from Alaska during February to April. Don’t forget to stop by the coffee plantation and the macadamia nut plantation, indulge in chocolate shave ice – the best of which you will get at the gas station.
Molokai, a special place with so much history, adventure, tranquility and .... the fastest way to slow down.
I'm a Realtor in Las Vegas, NV where I now live for 12 years before I moved from the Bay Area California. Prior to that I was raised im Saarland/ Germany, worked in Switzerland, England, France and traveled to many interesting places in Europe. It was my dream to see California, San Francisco which I did many years ago. I started as mother's help and worked my way up as an independent consultant for Fortune 500 companies until he bug bit me again and I moved to Las Vegas. I have a nice home with pool and tropical backyard where I have started to rent out 1 or 2 bedrooms to guests on a short term basis. Come visit me at any of the two properties - I'll be delighted to see you.
I was attracted to Molokai because of its history about the lepra colony in Kalaupapa. While visiting a small museum and chatting with the keeper, she mentioned that there was a condo right at the beach for sale. I visited it, fell in love, made an offer and took the next flight back to Kauai. I upgraded it and returned many times as a visitor with my family and friends. It is truly paradise!
It's located 7 miles off the Molokai airport in the lovely Molokai Shores Resort. You can never get lost since there is only ONE highway taking you to the East side, and another one to the West side. Beaches ... you can only dream about. You can hop into a small propeller airplane to visit all the other islands. You can take a mule ride, helicopter ride or hike down the cliffs to Kalaupapa where a guided tour takes you to the lepra colony.
And it's a paradise for snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, hiking ... You'll take memories back home that are unforgettable and you long to come back again soon.
My husband and I loved staying at Molokai Shores and Sigrid was the perfect hostess. She was lovely and very caring. The unit is spot on with an ocean view, beautiful lawns and a very nice pool overlooking the ocean. We played miniature golf on the lawn with other guests staying at Molokai Shores (what fun!). The restaurant at the Hotel Molokai which is a very short walk down the street had great food and live music every night. Also, the Farmers Market on Saturday was fun. We met the very friendly Hawaiian locals who are true to the Aloha Spirit. Enjoyed the Overlook and history of the Leprosy Colony and am now reading the Land of Damien which is about the how Saint Damien helped these people selflessly.
We would not hesitate to repeat our trip and stay at Sigrid's condo. Thank you Sigrid for your wonderful hospitality!
The condo was clean and well-maintained in a perfect location. The island of Molokai exceeded our expectations and the condo's central location on the island was perfect; close to the little town of Kaunakaki. We fell in love with Molokai and will be back many times. Highly recommended!
Molokai is a place where you make your own entertainment. We really enjoyed our stay here .Condo were clean, good kitchen mainly has everything you need , but my opinion would be better if more cookware staff. Great view from balcony ( I think this's special bonus 100% spectaculars ) very quiet and nice, we idn't have any problem with our rest . If we'll return to Molokai we'll stay to this condo again . Would recommend this place .
We've been to Molokai before—but only for a couple of days We cannot get over the view from the lanai at your location That photo that companies the property listing is 100% accurate from your lanai! Terrific!
My wife went nuts whale watching every morning. Seriously. Every morning I'm prying her away from the railing to come for breakfast.
The grounds (with the pool, barbeque, and laundry area) were clean and very well maintained.
Access to town for groceries, restaurants and the airport was exceptional.
This place has ample space and is that quiet getaway we were looking for.
We will be back to VRBO and this place again … God willing.
Molokai is a special island, be sure to research this great island, as it is very different from others in the state. This condo is right on check with everything that is Molokai. The view for sunset and morning coffee from covered balcony is superb. This is a super quiet complex, and is very comfortable to just relax in after a day's adventure around the island. On site bbq area is clean, works well and was enjoyed. The grounds are maintained very well, the pool always clean and cool (there is a chiller). It is very convenient to get to town, and from one end of the island to the other. The appliances are superb, on site coin laundry is very clean with great hot dryers. The owner responds quickly to questions and is more than willing to help where possible to make sure you are comfortable on Molokai. When we return to this island, we will definitely stay here again if available.
