Amazing Swiss chalet by Woodstock and Suicide Six
Every time I walked in the door of this incredible property I was overwhelmed with the gratitude that I was fortunate enough to be able to stay here. The home itself is beautiful, pleasing to the soul, as Thomas Moore would put it... the hikes, snowshoes, and skies out the door are amazing, invigorating, and healing. And then you have the quintessential Woodstock village two miles down the hillside featuring delicious cafes and wonderful bookstores . There has been a surplus of snow each time we’ve been here, which has been several long weekends between Oct .and April this year. We’ve explored the 20 miles of carriage roads of the nearby Rockefeller property, snowshoed and hiked the hillsides of Suicide Six, and look forward to connecting to the Appalachian Trail on future hikes. Mary has thought of every thing you might want or need to make your stay perfect and memorable. I manage a couple of properties on Cape Cod and am not easy to please. This place is super clean, comfortable and peaceful.
A wonderful gathering spot for our family
The photos hardly capture the inviting warmth of this wonderful home. We had a small family gathering here, where everyone had their own peaceful retreat spaces and yet could also come together in comfortable and tastefully decorated living and dining rooms with windows that celebrate the bucolic beauty of the surrounding Vermont hillsides. We found great skiing, sledding and shopping nearby and one night we went to a play and ate out in White River Junction. This home is in immaculate condition and provides the perfect conclusion to a day of outdoor activity. I would also be completely delighted to have time here just for a step away from the routines of life.
Beautiful, sparkling, and open--this is a gem
We loved our stay in this wonderful, modern cabin. You're immediately drawn to the open living room, where you can relax on a couch by a fire, play a game or eat at the dining room table, or step over to the sparkling kitchen. Expansive windows offer beautiful views of the woods and hillside. Cleanliness makes a huge difference to us and this satisfied the toughest judge I know--my wife. We're hoping for a return visit soon.
A cozy, relaxing cabin
I've been lucky enough to visit this spot in both the fall and winter. This place at once feels cozy and spacious. A great spot to drink coffee by the stove on snowy mornings or lounge on the porch on sunny afternoons. I love how "open" the living room space feels. The surrounding roads are nice for walking and it's only a short drive from downtown Woodstock. Ideal getaway for small groups and families!
Mary's house in Woodstock is the most elegant "log cabin" you've ever seen. It's lodge-like atmosphere is surrounded by swimming areas in nearby lakes and streams in summer, ski areas in winter, hiking yea- round, and awesome restaurants. It's the perfect retreat for great family vacations or adult getaways and memorable adventures.

Our family gathered at this wonderful log home for a reunion. It was the perfect home base to return to from hikes and museums and shopping in Woodstock. We made good use of the kitchen and were delighted that Mary's place is fully stocked with pots and pans, dishware and serving dishes. We loved the open concept living space, and the huge windows looking out into the woods. The propane fireplace adds such warmth and ambiance. We plan to return for cross country skiing and snowshoeing, and perhaps for hiking in summer. Highly recommended.
