About Ellen and Mike Tomy

Mike Tomy is an award winning architect and Ellen painted portraits for 15 years and now paints miniatures. They are both retired and recently renovated the main house and the carriage house that sits near.

Ellen and Mike Tomy purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Ellen and Mike Tomy chose Beaufort

The carriage house has wonderful views of historic homes. The trees somewhat block the view of the water, but it is just a block away. Park the car and walk to museums, restaurants, shops, marina and art galleries. Or take a horse drawn carriage ride along the streets of Beautiful historic district. Go for a drive to Hunting beach and climb the lighthouse. Stop in the colorful shops and road side vegetable stands along the way.

What makes this cottage unique

The Carriage House on Craven, central to all that is happening in Beaufort has a separate unit downstairs (property 742825) if one has a large party and all want to stay in one place.

During the many yearly festivals parking is not easy to find in town. Just stay at the carriage house, leave the car and the festivals are a block away. Meander through one-of-a-kind shops on Bay Street and enjoy fabulous seafood in Beaufort's unique restaurants. If you don't want to eat out, a fully equipped kitchen is ready for you.

The Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The carriage house has all of the charm of historic Beaufort. It is beautifully furnished, comfortable, and well-kept. The property owners exhibit true southern hospitality, and they go the extra mile to make each guest feel welcomed and relaxed. Only steps from the waterfront, we enjoyed excellent dining and shopping as well as scenic views. It was the perfect getaway!

Perfectly appointed carriage house in a 5-star location.

  • 5 of 5

This carriage house is perfect for visiting Beaufort, exploring the surrounding area, enjoying some down time or all of the above. The carriage house is beautifully decorated and well appointed. Everything you need from coffee in the morning to wine on the veranda in the evening. We were there for two days before we even realized there was a TV! On our bikes we explored the historic district and took evening rides along the river walk. Venturing further out, we did day trips up to Donnelly and down to Pinckney. The carriage house is extremely well done and it's hard to imagine how it could be improved. The owners have thought of everything to make the stay enjoyable and effortless.

Lovely and attention to detail!

  • 5 of 5

We had the wonderful opportunity to stay here in Wren's Nest in late June and we could not have been more pleased! Cozy, supper clean & attention to detail were fabulous! Have already recommended to family, friends & coworkers! A most awesome location in the historic district right close to the river & a short walk into town, with restaurants & shops. Our hosts were very receptive & most kind, with a quick check in & out process. We look forward to our return to your lovely rental! Thank you!
