About Jane Angelopoulos

John and I love the seacoast and run a business in busy Portsmouth NH. We bought this property to have a quiet place close to home and near the beach.

We liked it so much we bought a full time residence down the road and rent this cottage to folks who want to chill a bit. Rye is an unusual beach community. Most people are year round so no crazy loud celebrations. The beach is used by locals and is wonderful for walking.

Why Jane Angelopoulos chose Rye

This property caught our eye because it is one of the last small quaint summer cottages. Comfortable but simple like when we were kids. The large tree shades you in the summer and sitting in the yard is relaxing. We didn't want fussy, we have enough of that in our lives this was inviting and little sand is expected.

What makes this cottage unique

Nights I can hear the waves crashing on the shore. The ocean breeze comes through the upstairs windows and fireflies are in the backyard. You can smell the ocean in the morning while you drink your coffee. Not busy at all after Labor Day the weather is still fantastic. When your here in the off season you are on the beach with 10 other people and the ocean is still warm. Rye is a quiet community uniquely situated near all the busy towns like Portsmouth and Boston.

Our week in Rye

  • 4 of 5

This cottage was well supplied and comfortably slept four of us, very convenient to beach, short walk and even shorter bike ride on our beach cruisers. It was roomy and bright. Would go again.

Just as advertised.

We had a great stay. The kitchen is wonderfully equipped for cooking. Our dog accompanied us and we found that this neighborhood is dog friendly and the beach is available to dogs until 9 a.m. each day. Our only issue was no air- conditioning on a few very hot days. The bedrooms are upstairs and get hot.

Cosy cottage, walking distance to the beach.

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was clean and pleasant with updated well-equipped kitchen and large enclosed porch. The owners were very responsive to our every need. Since we stayed a month, the only thing we missed was a washer and dryer. It was nice to be able to walk to a very nice beach.

"beachy" little cottage- looks like it might be featured in a fairytale.

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was neat and clean, with many amenities such as grill, boogie boards, beach chairs, TV with Comcast, etc. We were comfortable with 6 in the cottage, plenty of comfortable sleeping spots, with 2 bedrooms and futon, plenty of room to move around- 2 toilets and a single shower worked out just fine. The hot outside shower was a plus. Cottage was fully stocked with towels, dishes, etc. Big refrigerator was a plus. Plenty of ventilation and fans available. The short walk to a beautiful beach was so nice. It was also great to have plenty of parking for 2 cars. The owner was great to work with. We recommend the cottage for a nice quiet vacation. Lots of places to eat nearby (Petey's and Ray's favorites), Walmart and Market Basket not too far for supplies. Petey's Market on corner. Thank you.

Pirates Cove Beach

5 min walk to Pirates Cove beach and 10 miles to Portsmouth NH. Portsmouth has historic Strawbery Banke Museum takes you back in time as well as hosting many festivals and is across the from Prescott Park which has outdoor theater and bands. Many restaurants and shopping. Just past Portsmouth is the Kittery Outlets in Kittery Maine. Going south down the coast of New Hampshire you will find many beaches such as Jenness State Beach and Hampton Beach each with their own flavor and a must for folks who like antiquing. Rye Harbor has deep sea fishing with just off the boat fish store. Can"t get fish this fresh anywhere. Pirates Cove is a quiet beach mainly used by the locals. Allows dogs in the morning before 9:00 am and after 7:00 pm during the season. If you have a dog lots of friendly walkers. Boston MA is about an hour from Rye if your looking for the big city.
