A Relaxing Oasis

  • 5 of 5

WOW! I found this B&B by chance online, looking for a place to take the kids before the busy school year started up. This cabin exceeded our expectations! What a large, clean, comfortable place to find peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle. My kids enjoyed exploring the pond and using the surround sound television, not to mention the wonderful garden we utilized as well as the campfire to roast marshmallows and gaze up at the stars. No comfort was spared! There was firewood, blankets, comfortable furniture, and fishing poles all provided. My daughter especially enjoyed using the kitchen since she prefers to make her own food rather than eat out. We were also enchanted with the Amish farms surrounding the cabin. We were able to have the opportunity to visit some historical sites as well as a local schoolhouse by Amish horse and buggy~~what fun! If you are looking for a wonderful, spacious, quiet location off the beaten path, this is the right place to come! Looking forward to visiting the cabin again soon.

Beautiful and so relaxing!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures of the cabin can not begin to show how nice it is. The property is so nice and quiet, yet you are still close to many fun things to do. The owner was so nice, and is there for you very quickly if you need anything. We had a very nice young man that came to give us all a horse and wagon tour. We would recommend this place to anyone.

Peaceful setting in picturesque SE Minnesota!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with our 3 kids and my parents, stayed here two nights in June while we were in the area for summer camp events at Luther College in Decorah, IA. Online booking was fast and convenient, and we received the key code by e-mail before we arrived so we could check in easily. Craig, the owner, stopped by with a delicious loaf of Amish-homemade bread, as well as a bottle of very tasty, locally produced maple syrup, and made sure we knew how to operate everything (especially all the electronics) in the house. He also offered a buggy ride, but the weather was not terribly cooperative while we were there - maybe next time! There was plenty of room for all of us, including enough beds that no one had to share - a real plus for the kids! The bunk room was great! The kids also greatly enjoyed the theatre / movie room and the ping pong table. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of dishes and utensils; we were glad to be able to prepare a few of our meals at the house and avoid so much dining out. We were hoping to use the fire pit for s'mores, but weather prevented that. Nice, covered porch for sitting outside, even when it was raining. Plenty of towels, soap, & basics. One of the bathrooms was an en suite, which worked well for my parents and their privacy. The other bathroom was down the hall from the bedrooms. This wasn't an issue for us, but for larger groups, having to go through a bedroom to access one of the bathrooms might be a consideration. The beds all had cute sheets and comforters and they were comfortable, though a little on the soft side if you prefer a firm mattress. The two queen beds were also very high off the floor - a consideration for older people or those with limited mobility. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again when we're in the area!
