Charming Rustic Cottage On Lake Superior

Bedrooms 1
Space 900 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

1 Bedroom With Loft, Sleeps 4.

As you walk through the orginal dutch door into the kitchen you will be taken back in time. Built in 1945 by a Norwegin imigrant, this cozy one of a kind cabin will provide a peaceful escape from life's hurried pace. When standing on the deck you will feel you are in the middle of the lake whether you are gazing at the stars or enjoying your breakfast, life slows to an enjoyable pace. One bedroom on the main floor with a queen bed and 2 twin beds in the loft. Beautiful Lake Superior stone fireplace. Bath with tub/shower. Charming kitchen with vintage fridge and gas stove. Gas grill, Keurig coffee maker, microwave.

Not only is the cabin warm, cozy and a great place to escape but the location is fantastic! So many amazing and fun places to check out!! Let your adventure begin in the Boundary Waters. The cabin is located about 25 miles from Sawbill Canoe Outfitters in the Boundary Waters. Let the outfitters plan your day trip to the BWCA. You can leave the cabin after breakfast, enjoy a day of canoeing and portaging in the BWCA and still be back to the cabin to relax on the deck for dinner.

Grand Marais, MN is 15 miles north of our cabin on HWY 61 and was just voted "The Coolest Small Town in America". Check out the great art galleries, festivals, and amazing restaurant. Sven and Ole's Pizza, World's Best Donut Shop and the Angry Trout just to name a few of our favorites!

Like to hike? Choose from Temperance River State Park, (9 miles), Cascade River State Park, (4 miles) or Goosberry Falls State Park (40 miles) all with breath taking waterfalls.

Grand Portage National Monument is worth the hour drive North on HWY 61. You will be taken back in time as you tour the fort and learn from the park staff who are dressed in period attire and explain what life was like at the trading fort at the turn of the 18th century.

Plan a day trip to Isle Royale. This island national park offers spectacular fishing, canoeing, hiking and one of the nation's best parks for spotting wildlife. Moose, foxes, waterfowl and wolves all live on the island.

Bring your bikes to check out the Gitchi-Gami paved bike trail (5 miles to trail, you will want to put bikes on your bike rack as we feel this part of HWY 61 is not safe for bikers.) Once you arrive at the trail, you can bike from Lutsen to Tofte, have lunch and then return for a massage at Lutsen Lodge Spa. (16 miles round trip).

Bring your golf clubs and check out Superior National Golf Course. One round of golf and you will know why Golf Digest rated Superior National #1 in the state of Minnesota. It belongs on every golfer's bucket list. Only 5 miles from the cabin.

Why Lori/Tim chose Minnesota

We looked at a lot of places on the North Shore and nothing felt quite right until we walked into this cabin. We found the cabin cozy, quaint, rustic, and had that "cabin smell" that we love. The view of Lake Superior is breathtaking. We are thankful and excited to share this piece of heaven with you.

North Shore Charm!

  • 5 of 5

This cute cottage is conveniently located near many of our favorite parks and stops along the shore. However, it was so peaceful and well set-up that we barely wanted to venture out after checking in! We found everything we needed to prepare our dinners, relax comfortably, and sleep restfully to the sounds of the waves. Clean, thoughtfully decorated, and tucked right on the water, you should not hesitate to book this place! We've camped and stayed at area lodges so we can confidently say that nothing so perfectly combines the charm and convenience of indoor lodging with the seclusion and beauty of nature like this little gem of a place does!

Loved everything about this cozy cabin. Gorgeous views of the lake and just steps away. Enjoyed sitting in front of the fireplace and listening to the sounds of the waves. This little cabin is a true gem.

Thank you Tim and Lori for a relaxing four night getaway. Falling asleep and waking up to the waves crashing on the shore of Lake Superior was nothing short of wonderful.

cozy get away

  • 4 of 5

such a charming little cabin. For the two of us it was just perfect. Almost smack in the middle between Lutsen and Grand Marais. The queen bed was so comfortable, the kitchen just the right size and equipped with all the needs for cooking at home. The fire place was amazing, we moved the couch in front of it so we could enjoy a little bit more. The flies were out of control so we were really not able to enjoy the deck as much as we'd like. The screen doors also did not shut all the way letting in some unwanted guests, but other than those two very small things the cabin was perfect!

We had such a wonderful, relaxing time at this cabin. The location was perfect for us, as it was close to Lutsen and Grand Marais. Good hiking, shopping, dining, agate-hunting, etc. It was our 25th anniversary, and the owners had left a bottle of champagne for us. Thank you! We loved the decor in the cabin, the cabin-y smell, and above all, the deck! You feel like you're right on the water, and the seating was so comfortable out there. Great place to relax and listen to the waves. Also, they had a record player with a collection of records which we enjoyed. You felt like you'd gone back in time. The bed was comfortable, too, and the kitchen had everything you needed. Thanks for sharing this cabin with others, we loved it and can't wait to go back, next time with our kids! The memory of this place will stay with us all year.
