The worse vacation EVER
I am a frequent traveler and felt that i was good at finding awesome homes away from home on vacation however this time I was wrong. The advertisement for this rental is extremely misleading. The listing mentioned that the rental has an old cottage like feel but it was more like an old run down motel on the side of the road. My family and I drove 10 and a half hours to enjoy our myrtle beach vacation. As you can imagine when we finally reached the rental we were exhausted and ready to relax. As soon as we pulled up and saw the horrible conditions of the outside of the house we knew the inside couldn't be any better... and it wasn't. Immediately we noticed the strong moldy smell of the rental and then the horribly dirty carpet. The carpet was supposed to be gray in color and it was black. The living area couch was wet and smelled like mildew. Moving on to the bedrooms we found dirty thin mattresses with blankets that looked as if they've been used 3 million times. We brought our own clean linens and still weren't comfortable enough to put them on the nasty beds. Not to mention the yellow stains we found on the mattress covers. There was obviously water damage to the home as the walls and wood panels were buckling and dang near falling off. The table and chairs in the dinning area were broke. There were old nasty plastic plates in the kitchen that we were told we could use... not to mention the numerous dead bugs we found; one of which looked like a bed bug.
I immediately contacted the property office and inquired if there was another property we could stay at because i traveled with small children whom i was afraid to let down on the carpet because of the condition of the house. I spoke to a representative who started that someone could be sent to clean carpets. After we waited 30 minutes I was told that a house keeper could come "clean" the home but there was nothing that could be done about the carpet because the company schedule to remove the carpet next week. As i was obviously frustrated and trying to find a solution so my family could rest the representative laughed at the fact that I was "so upset" and didn't understand what the big deal was. I spoke with who i believe to be a manager. He repeatedly stated that the house was old and there was nothing they could do including giving us our money back. The only solution he offered was a blanket to put over the wet couch. I had to spend unplanned for extra money on food and another hotel.
