The Neighborhood

The Palm Arbor Suite is situated in the fabulous and Historic Old Northeast. The ONE as some call it. It is but a few blocks and a few minutes walk from eateries, cafes, taverns, cinema, Sundial shopping center, tampa bay beach, waterfront parks, bayside municipal pool, the Vinoy and the eclectic vibe of downtown St. Pete.

Most residents are on a high living in the Old Northeast, loving the community and its close proximity to our thriving downtown.

The New York Times says, 'This quiet residential neighborhood stuffed with old houses is the opposite of the happening downtown scene, which might just be its appeal. Those discovering this area, largely through word of mouth, say they love its sense of community while relishing the easy access to downtown. With its eclectic architecture, brick streets, picket fences and lush foliage, the neighborhood offers an odd blend of New England style and tropical sensibility. Despite its residential nature, it is just north of St. Petersburg’s downtown, making it convenient to the city’s booming cultural and entertainment scene. It also offers easy access for out-of-towners, since it is just 20 minutes from Tampa International Airport.

Guest Access

Check in time 2:pm and Check Out time 10:30 am. Guests will have access to private off street parking, private patios, beach towels, and use of free washer and dryer in laundry room.

This suite in general is a self sufficient apartment furnished with cleaning products, broom, mop, and vacuum.

Cleaning services are available for an additional fee for stays over 1 week upon request.

Interaction with Guests

I live in a charming Bungalow home next door. I will be happy to meet you upon arrival to assist in your getting settled in or check in on you the next day to ensure all is right with your accommodations. I am also only a phone call away for assistance. I will be happy to advise on directions, local sights, and restaurant choices. I am a social person who wants my guests needs met. Any other personal interaction between myself and our guests is taken by your lead. This is your Vacation Getaway and as such it also deserves your own personal privacy and personal space.

Getting around

Quaint open-air trolleys and buses are available and within walking distance.

Bus services are available and can be accessed just a few blocks away.

Palm Arbor Suite is a twenty minute drive from Tampa International Airport and St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, and walking distance from Albert Whitted Airport.

It is 6 blocks from the interstate and a thirty minute drive to world famous beach destinations: Treasure Island, Clearwater Beach, and Fort de Soto.

Bike and kayak rentals are available nearby.

Downtown St. Petersburg's beautiful waterfront.

The city of St. Petersburg has long been known for its scenic bayfront and renowned art museums. In recent years, St. Pete has also emerged as a hot spot for shopping, art museums, dining, nightlife and entertainment. With 361 days of sunshine a year, a lively downtown area, and a full spectrum of things to see and do, it's no surprise that The New York Times named it a 'Top Place To Go' in 2014.

Downtown St. Petersburg: Arts, Culture & Entertainment

A hub for art and culture, downtown St. Pete is home to many notable fine art museums and galleries. The iconic Dali Museum displays artwork by the influential 20th-century surrealist Salvador Dali in a stunning building with a flowing geodesic dome known as the “Enigma.” Just down the street, the Chihuly Collection presented by Morean Arts Center features some of the most brilliant and intricate creations of famous glass artist Dale Chihuly. The collections in the Museum of Fine Arts showcase works by Monet, Gauguin, Renoir, O’Keeffe and many other beloved 18th- and 19th-century painters. Galleries lining the Central Avenue corridor include the Craftsman House Gallery, Crislip Arcade, ARTpool and the Morean Arts Center.

The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - Mahaffey Theater hosts major shows and entertainers. Built in 1925, the Palladium Theater is a performing arts venue that is, at once, intimate and majestic. The theater’s 880-seat Hough Concert Hall boasts a full-sized Skinner pipe organ. In addition, the American Stage Theater Company, Freefall Theatre Company and Florida Orchestra are all located in downtown St. Pete. The St. Pete area is brimming with culture of all sorts.

Dining and Nightlife

Downtown St. Pete offers a diverse range of restaurants, from the upscale, award-winning Marchand's Bar and Grill to the casually trendy and innovative Red Mesa Cantina. Dine outside on the scenic Beach Drive promenade at Cassis American Brasserie, Bella Brava New World Trattoria,Moon Under Water or 400 Beach Seafood & Tap House.

About Richard Miller

Welcome to about me. I was born, raised and educated in New York and have resided in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Long Island. Throughout my career I have had the pleasure of always dealing with the public. With a new college degree in horticulture in hand , I opened and owned a chain of three Florist / Garden Centers for 11 years. I have always loved the earth and the bounty of beauty it provides in nature. Entering the airline travel business, I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States for 20 years. As a travel professional, I had the opportunity in meeting people from all over the globe and assisting them with any number of requests and needs. After discovering St. Petersburg over 35 years ago, I witnessed many wonderful changes. Now I am thrilled to call the city of St. Petersburg my home. My spouse and I over several years have acquired, improved and beautified some rental properties. I do hope to have the opportunity of having you as our Guests and to ensure your stay is as comfortable and pleasurable as possible. You will find everything you need in our Suites. Every attention to detail has been taken to ensure your stay is "above and beyond" the rest. Welcome to St. Pete

Why Richard Miller chose Historic Old Northeast

We fell in love with this property due to its charm and close proximity to the beaches and downtown. The Old Northeast is a lovely area of older Bungalows and estates. Next to my architecturally sweet craftsman bungalow, sits my triplex building where the Palm Arbor Suite is housed. Both buildings either have porches, balconies or front patios which is in keeping to our neighborhood, where you can spend time reading, people watching or chatting with neighbors and friends. The buildings have been renovated extensively but they have kept their original charm I fell in love with.

What makes this apartment unique

Walking distance to downtown and all which St. Petersburg has to offer. A kitchen you won't find in any other rental at this price. An ideal location for everything the area has to offer. Having patios and off street parking is a pleasure for our guests.

You needn’t look any further for your St Petersburg accommodations! Our experience at Palm Arbor Suites brought “hospitality” to new heights! From the initial booking, through the end of our extended stay, we were presented with the acme of a “home away from home” experience. Although we had a “moving target” kind of booking date due to making a cross country move, our hosts met our fluid schedule with calmness and reassurance. We arrived to find a suite far surpassing Internet pictures and descriptions in every way. The cleanliness, detail and class of decor and household amenities, thoughtfulness of provisions like coffee, water, wine, snacks, and bath accessories, along with lush private gardens far exceeded expectations! Once we walked in the door we felt welcomed! The location could not be better! Walkable to the bay front for amazing sunrises, through the charming historic neighborhoods, to restaurants and bars that offer a plethora of cuisines to satisfy every taste, and to Tropicana stadium for sports fans! Don’t miss having cocktails at The Canopy or visiting Haslam’s Bookstore and the Dali Museum. Area brochures and guides, games, DVD’s, cable, high speed wireless, beach chairs and umbrellas await you to satisfy your curiosities and make your vacation complete in rain or shine! And all the while you can relax as you leave your car in the driveway! Best yet, it is only a quick drive to the beautiful beaches of Fort DeSoto park or St Petersburg beach. The experience at Palm Arbor Suites will be hard to top. Richard and Tom are the consummate hosts who genuinely appreciate their guests. You will arrive as a client and leave as a friend. There is no better memory to have!

We were welcomed to our cottage with a bottle of wine and lovely accommodations! Directions to attractions, restaurants and historic sites in St. Pete were provided, and we felt very comfortable during our stay. Chairs, umbrellas and towels were even available for our trips to the beach. We recommend this place to anyone who enjoys historic sites, walking and comfortable surroundings!

Perfect Stay in St. Pete

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in the suite! It is in a perfect location in the Historic Old Northeast, and we enjoyed being able to walk downtown (with stops along the way at Black Crow Coffee or the Historic Old Northeast Tavern), as well as the waterfront. We also enjoyed just walking around the charming neighborhood. Richard provided such a warm welcome, and the suite had everything we needed, including extra toiletries, and a fully stocked kitchen. We also loved the comfy bed, and all the beautiful landscaping around the property. It was obvious that the amenities provided had been well thought out. We hope to visit St. Pete again, and will absolutely look to stay here when we do.

A Perfect Home Base for Exploring St. Pete

  • 5 of 5

We spent a comfortable week here exploring Downtown St. Pete and the Arts District. We felt at home from the moment we walked in. The suite is attractively furnished, completely equipped for just about any cooking you choose to do, and impeccably clean. Richard welcomed us with a bottle of wine and the fridge had starter amounts of milk and water.

The suite is in a scenic neighborhood within easy walking distance of many restaurants on 2nd and 4th Streets and on Beach Drive. For attractions and restaurants further afield the Numbers 4 and 5 busses are convenient.

We look forward to staying here again on our next trip to St. Pete.

Everything was perfect for two persons' homelike living away from permanent home. We enjoyed so much the cozy accommodation and the safe neighborhood during our second one-month stay (November 2017) in this vacation home.
