About MaryEllen "M.E." and Christopher Spogis
Having lived in Montana for 37 years, my husband Christopher and I welcome you to our Mountain Log Home nestled in the Bridger Mountains, a short drive from downtown Bozeman, Montana. We grew up in Eastern parts, moved to Montana for college, and have stayed ever since, raising our daughter in the nurturing community of Bozeman. We enjoy all of the culture this area has to offer, and would love to share our favorite spots for skiing, hiking, biking, boating, fishing, eating, libations, theater, shopping, visual art, and many other Montana experiences.
MaryEllen "M.E." and Christopher Spogis purchased this House in 1988
What makes this House unique
Without a doubt, our log home is town and country at its height! It has the best of both worlds, wherein one is able to truly feel away from it all, yet be a short drive to the small city of Bozeman, or east to the small, charming Montana towns of Clyde Park and Wilsall, where burgers and beer & rodeos await. The 10 minute, 5.5 mile drive to Bridger Bowl Ski Area and Crosscut Nordic Cross Country Ski Center are without reservation an awesome boon! The drives to all of these locations are stellar, with views of numerous jagged mountain peaks, and green, tree swept mountain sides, backset with our Big Sky. Additionally, I have always loved how our home is just off the paved Brackett Creek Road, yet the driveway is just long enough to feel quite removed and cozy, nestled in the huge fir and pine trees!

Comfy place with lots of character.
Comfy and relaxing. Good place to unplug.
Wished we stayed longer
It was a short trip of 3 nights - Wished we booked a longer stay. It is soooo quite. At one point we turned off all appliances and could not believe the silence. Silence is golden!!
Hiked one day nearby. Next time we will stay more local and bring the Mountain bikes!!
Third Time is a Charm
We always love staying at 5Firs. So much beauty and comfort. Close to rivers and Bozeman and Livingston and Yellowstone. A wonderful place.
A little slice of heaven!
Private and beautiful scenery outside ..... comfortable and spacious inside! Perfect place to get away and relax!!
Secluded Log Cabin Vacation
We loved our stay at the log cabin. It was off the beaten path, which was exactly what we wanted. The cabin was clean and stocked with enough food for our first day. Christopher even checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. We plan to come back.
Lovely setting and an attentive owner who was respectful of our privacy, beds and pillows are a little hard for our liking but everything else was perfect👍
Any season of the year offers a wealth of recreational pursuits from our log home.
Kick back and RELAX on the sunny decks and enjoy the occasional sightings of moose, deer and elk that wander through the area. Numerous species of birds frequent the surrounding woods, including wild Turkeys, Stellar Jays, and Crossbills.
HIKING opportunities can begin at your doorstep. Or, take a short drive to the pristine waters of Fairy Lake. From the nearby Trailhead, ascend Sacajawea Peak, the highest Peak in the Bridger Mountains. From the summit, seven mountain ranges are distinctly in view. Wildflowers abound along this moderately easy trail.
FISHING opportunities abound in the area with RIVERS such as the Blue Ribbon Gallatin, Madison, and Yellowstone Rivers close enough for enjoyable day trips. Of course, RAFTING these rivers are fun options as Day Trips for the family and Adrenalin Junkies alike.
An excursion to Yellowstone National Park is under 2 hours away.
Soak in the natural HOT SPRINGS of the Boiling River in Yellowstone, or take in one of the many Hot Springs closer to Bozeman.
MOUNTAIN BIKERS will love being just over 2 miles from some of the best trails in the Bozeman area. There are several locations in Bozeman that can completely outfit your Mountain Biking and Road Biking needs.
Would you like to see a real GHOST TOWN? There are several, including Virginia City and Nevada City.
WINTER finds you conveniently located just 6 miles from Bridger Bowl and even closer to Bohart Cross Country Ski Center. Or, just strap on snowshoes or cross-country skis and explore the 21 acres from your doorstep.
Farther afield, you can easily access BIG SKY, MOONLIGHT, or LONE MOUNTAIN for a day of skiing.
Late Spring brings the unique sport of "CRUST CRUSIN" on skate skis to an area of Yellowstone Park, just a little farther up the road.
