This house is located on a beautiful lake with a private beach next door. The house and beds were comfortable. While we enjoyed our visit, we did experience a few problems which the owner fixed some of them. The water heater did not work the evening we arrived. Then the water in the downstairs shower was too hot and not controllable so everyone had to shower upstairs in the master bathroom. The house was relatively clean although the kitchen and bathroom tile floors were dirty, and the oven in the kitchen was so dirty that we decided against using it. We had some issues with a lot of spiders in the kitchen and in some closets, and the BBQ grill was too dirty and full of charcoal ash that we had to clean it before we used it. Be aware of loud trains going close by even at night. The sunsets at this location on the lake were stunning.
We used this property as a base while in Michigan for a family wedding. There were seven of us in total (four adults and 3 kids) and we found the place lovely and roomy. The location is brilliant - loved the view over the lake and made use of the private beach next door. The house is right on the water and the area is quiet apart from the boats on the lake.
There were a few negatives but nothing major:
1) No air conditioning. This should be stated in the rental listing as it got really hot and stuffy during our stay. Wasn't too bad with the windows open but as it rained several times during our stay we had to make sure we left the windows closed whenever we went out for the day.
2) Problems with boiler. Several times during the stay we found we had no hot water. The owner was really helpful and came quickly to help resolve the issue but was basically limited to simply switching the boiler off and on until it started working.
3) No tin opener.
Despite the above issues I would definitely stay here again and would recommend the property to anyone wanting a relaxing lakeside break.
We were pleased with our stay at this property. The house is behind another house but right on the water. Overall this 3 floor house had everything we needed. There were 3 couples and a 2 year old. We brought his pack-n-play for sleeping. We were there for a family reunion in Clarkston which was a 10 minute drive. Easy access. The house has had some remodeling done. There are 2 and a half baths. I didn't read the info close enough regarding air conditioning. There isn't any and the upstairs bedroom we used a fan to cool. Michigan in July can be cool at night but it took a while to cool it out. The 4th of July fireworks and train noise were handled with ear plugs. We really were there only for early morning and sleeping as the reunion was in Clarkston. A few issues with the downstairs shower being too hot, but the owner came over to try to fix. Such a beautiful shower! All in all, we appreciated the owners for accommodating us on the 4th. It was a great place for home base while in the area.
Overall, this was a great place for our family to spend the Holiday. We had a total of 8 people (me, my husband and our two year-old and then my brother, his wife and their three kids, ages 3 to 8). There was plenty of sleeping room for all of us and the beds were super comfortable. The linens were all clean and new and there were plenty of dishes. I had brought extra sheets and towels from home, just in case but we didn't even need them. There was plenty of room for the kids to play on all three levels of the house. The upper level was one big bedroom with a full bathroom and that was really nice.
A few things that were a little awkward: The layout of the house - There are three levels and the kitchen and the main living room are on different levels, so there was lots of going up and downstairs. Also, the 2nd full bathroom was on the lower level and far from the two bedrooms that were on the main level (you have to go downstairs and all the way through the kitchen to get to it). There was also no cable, they had comcast, but only the local channels. There was also a lot of things in the fridge when we go there. Mostly condiments, but also open bottles of wine that probably could have been thrown out before our arrival.
Overall, this was a great place and the owner was really friendly and checked in throughout our visit. We would stay here again.
