Great Place to Settle In

  • 5 of 5

My husband's dream is to live in Wyoming so we decided to give it a trial run and rented Mary's house for a total of six weeks with a break mid-way because of a prior reservation. We were a little hesitant at first because we thought we wanted to be closer to Jackson Hole but decided to give Alpine a try and loved it. There's everything you need in the town from a hardware store, grocery, good restaurants, gym, etc. And, you miss the crowds in JH. I was still working and the trip to the airport when I needed to fly out was only about 45-50 minutes along a very scenic drive.

The house was perfect. Spacious, bright, well-equipped and felt like home instantly. The yard was fenced in and very private. Mary was great and very easy to work with. We stayed in frequent communication and we had all our questions answered. She has such a beautiful home it was very generous of her to share it with strangers. The house cleaner was excellent and the house was immaculate when we arrived. We've stayed at many VRBO properties and this was by far the best all around. The only thing to note is that it is not air conditioned. It gets very cool at night so you can manage this by keeping shades down but for some people this might be a problem.

Owner's Response: Thank you Walt & Connie for your kind review. It was a pleasure to share my home to celebrate your special occasion. You were very considerate during your stay and it was always fun to hear how much you were enjoying yourselves. It was great to know you took advantage of walking through the pasture to the Salt River, sunset walks around the neighborhood and the local flavor and amenities of Alpine and Star Valley I'm happy to know the house was equipped with all your needs so you could enjoy the area and all it offers. It is truly a place "to settle in" as you mentioned.

In Alpine there are local and fine dining restaurants - the newest being the Old Yellowstone Garage where Chef Paulie creates great Italian cuisine.

In the Alpine Elk Refuge you can watch Elk that come down for feeding during the winter months.

The new Alpine Airpark development has an airstrip with beautiful custom homes & attached hangers.

There are local festivals and farmers markets.

The famous Huskie Factory where they make each Huskie airplane individually is located in Afton (approx. 30 miles south of Alpine). They are very friendly people & happy to take people on tours of the factory to see these amazing airplanes being built.

The new Mormon Temple is also located in Afton.

All amenities you need are nearby and Jackson Hole is only 40 miles away which offers shopping, skiing, fine dining, theatre, Nat'l Museum of Wildlife Art, galleries, hotels, wildlife and outdoor experiences. Yellowstone Nat'l Park, Jenny Lake, Snake River, Tetons and Cody and Green River are all places you may want to visist during your stay.

Easily accessible summer outdoor activities in the valley include awesome fishing on the Snake & Salt Rivers, river floating, boating, para-sailing, paddle boarding, jet skiing, horseback riding, ATV trails, hiking trails and 4 golf courses. In the winter you can enjoy snowshoeing, ice fishing and snowmobiliing close to the house. In Jackson Hole you can enjoy dog sledding & sleigh rides through the Elk Refugeand awesome skiing and snowboarding at the Grand Tetons & Snow King.

The opportunity to experience the last of the "Old West" is right here for you to enjoy.

Also, If you are considering relocating to this area or building a house, this house is the perfect place to start.
