Johnny and Tami Morton purchased this little paradise in 2010 to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Both involved in multiple business ventures, it was a gift to come home in the evening and unwind in this beautiful serene setting. It was like being miles from nowhere yet close if necessary. We loved the cabin so much we decided to share it with others. We live very close and take much pride in ownership. We hope you love it and care for it the same as we do.

Rebecca Lane is in the middle of nowhere, but actually close to everything. St. Louis is 45 minutes, Washington is 10 minutes, and downtown Marthasville which has practically everything you would need in 3 minutes. Why not this property????
Only log cabin of its kind in this area. Built from 10" logs. Large and spacious, lake front, woods to wander in, chimanea to watch fires in, firepit to have open fires for roasting hotdogs, smores and more, berries to pick, fish to feed, wildlife such as deer, fox, raccoons, herons, skunks, turtles, muskrats, hummingbirds and wild birds too numerous to name. A real outdoor paradise for nature lovers.
IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: The cabin is filled with taxidermy animals. WE DID NOT KILL ANY OF THESE. They were victims of traffic accidents, purchased at auctions, or donated to us by conservationists. We thought this would be a great way for adults and children alike to see wildlife up close without ever feeling the need to harm a live animal. They are also unable to grow new hair so we ask that you do not handle of pet. If taxidermy animals bother you, the cabin is probably not a good fit. Thank you.
My birthday gathering was at the cabin. It was so wonderful. I highly recommend this place! Cozy, comfortable, serene! The view of the pond is so calming. I can't rave about it enough. Stay here. It's great!!
We live in South Florida and were looking for a place near St Louis (where I'm originally from) for all our grown kids to come together in one central location to celebrate the new year and Christmas together. (We gathered from places like Colorado Springs, CO; Columbus, OH, and Miami, FL; as well as the kids still residing in the St Louis area). We knew we wanted a cabin and this fit the bill perfectly. The large dining table in the kitchen allowed us, for the first time in a long time, to actually sit together for a meal. The rustic, old-time cabin feel was great, overlooking the lake, offered a great way to relax in the morning with a hot cup of coffee. I'm not sure when the next opportunity will arise for all of us to get together again, but I believe we will likely stay here again in the future.
Our party of 6 adults and two dogs thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the quaint cabin decorated for Christmas. It was as advertised, clean and well stocked. We did a lot of cooking while there and found all the necessities provided. The pots and pans were of good quality and easy to use. There are plenty of dishes and glassware for ten. The cabin was comfortable and large enough for all three families to have their own private space. We only wished the weather had been more amenable to use the outside patio and fire pit. The pond thawed one afternoon long enough for a couple of hearty souls to take out one of the boats. They had fun. We appreciated the expansiveness of the property but were not sure when we reached the limits of the property. We didn't want to trespass on others. Also hunting season had opened(thanks for the notice in the book) and we didn't want to be accidental targets. We enjoyed the Shaw Nature Preserve and lunch and wine tastings at Blumenhof Winery the day after Christmas. The wine was great and the folks friendly. Using our GPS we found the property without difficulty but caution those driving in after dark that the road from St. Charles has many twists and turns and limited visibility when raining. We certainly would recommend the property to others and would consider returning especially in the another season so we could appreciate all the amenities.
My wife, son, daughter, her boyfriend, two dogs and myself had a wonderful time at the cabin. It is so nice, the pictures do not do it justice. The cabin is very rustic, yet has all you need for a relaxing time in the country. We cooked a 19 lb. turkey with all the trimmings, most everything you will need is here. Enjoyed coffee in the morning on the back porch overlooking the small lake, very peaceful. There are some very charming small towns near by that are worth exploring. Hope to come back sometime. FYI- you know what they call a cabin in the woods without taxidermy? A house! Thanks again for a wonderful place to enjoy our thanksgiving! DB and family
We enjoyed our stay at this cabin in the woods. Very nice accommodations and in such a peaceful setting. The kitchen has everything you need. Washington is only about a 10-15 minute drive away. Thanks for sharing your place!
Our niece was recently married in Washington Mo. We have had great experiences with renting large homes for our extended family to be together for special events like this. For this trip we had three couples from out of town. This log home was a perfect match for our needs.
Each couple had their own bedroom. The kitchen table was large with plenty of seating for our family. The kitchen had everything we needed to make tasty meals at home. We enjoyed having access to the grill. We had a perfect fall weekend. We spent a lot of our time outside enjoying the lake, the view and hiking around the area.
We went to the local grocery store in Marthasville to get the basic food items when we arrived. The store had most of the things we needed. For lunch we found a great pizza place in Marthasville. We enjoyed the small town experience. Washington was a short drive away with lots more shops and restaurants to explore.
Tammy was very helpful and responsive in answering all the questions we had. Really liked the welcome book. Covered everything we needed to know about the home and the area.
Perfect home for a small family gathering or weekend retreat from city life.
The beds are comfortable, the kitchen fully stocked, the location is peaceful and pretty. We really enjoyed our weekend here.
