Johnny and Tami Morton purchased this little paradise in 2010 to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Both involved in multiple business ventures, it was a gift to come home in the evening and unwind in this beautiful serene setting. It was like being miles from nowhere yet close if necessary. We loved the cabin so much we decided to share it with others. We live very close and take much pride in ownership. We hope you love it and care for it the same as we do.

Rebecca Lane is in the middle of nowhere, but actually close to everything. St. Louis is 45 minutes, Washington is 10 minutes, and downtown Marthasville which has practically everything you would need in 3 minutes. Why not this property????
Only log cabin of its kind in this area. Built from 10" logs. Large and spacious, lake front, woods to wander in, chimanea to watch fires in, firepit to have open fires for roasting hotdogs, smores and more, berries to pick, fish to feed, wildlife such as deer, fox, raccoons, herons, skunks, turtles, muskrats, hummingbirds and wild birds too numerous to name. A real outdoor paradise for nature lovers.
IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: The cabin is filled with taxidermy animals. WE DID NOT KILL ANY OF THESE. They were victims of traffic accidents, purchased at auctions, or donated to us by conservationists. We thought this would be a great way for adults and children alike to see wildlife up close without ever feeling the need to harm a live animal. They are also unable to grow new hair so we ask that you do not handle of pet. If taxidermy animals bother you, the cabin is probably not a good fit. Thank you.
My birthday gathering was at the cabin. It was so wonderful. I highly recommend this place! Cozy, comfortable, serene! The view of the pond is so calming. I can't rave about it enough. Stay here. It's great!!
Great comfy cabin, beautiful nature, great location. Tami was super responsive too which made our stay even better.
We decided on this cabin for a mini family reunion of six adults and one child. It was spacious and had everything you'd need to cook, serve, and entertain a big group. My five year old son loved exploring the lake and wooded area. He also really enjoyed feeding the catfish and finding freshwater mussels shells left behind behind raccoons. We didn't take the boats out but they were provided. It really is a wonderful place for children to play and explore. If you don't like taxidermy, this is not the place for you. We turned it into a scavenger hunt and my son counted 66 items that used to be living, lol. He thought it was great. The stairs to the second floor are VERY steep. We had one older person in our group that could not do them. Fortunately, it was no issue for the rest of us and the handrails felt very secure. Cell service was non-existent in parts of the property (we are on AT&T) and wi-fi was slow but we were there to disengage with the rest of the world anyway. The location feels remote but it is only a ten minute drive to Washington. There is a winery (Lake Creek) within two miles that served good German food. It was an hour drive to the St. Louis zoo and maybe two miles to the Katy Trail. The best part is the owner, Tami, who was quick to respond to questions. Don't hesitate to rent this cabin for your next family get-together.
The cabin is very nice with plenty of amenities. The location is secluded but close to nearby wineries and other attractions.
The whole experience was wonderful and all four of us agreed, that it was the perfect place to relax. The only problem that we had, was that our stay of slightly less than two days, really wasn't long enough.
We live in South Florida and were looking for a place near St Louis (where I'm originally from) for all our grown kids to come together in one central location to celebrate the new year and Christmas together. (We gathered from places like Colorado Springs, CO; Columbus, OH, and Miami, FL; as well as the kids still residing in the St Louis area). We knew we wanted a cabin and this fit the bill perfectly. The large dining table in the kitchen allowed us, for the first time in a long time, to actually sit together for a meal. The rustic, old-time cabin feel was great, overlooking the lake, offered a great way to relax in the morning with a hot cup of coffee. I'm not sure when the next opportunity will arise for all of us to get together again, but I believe we will likely stay here again in the future.
Our party of 6 adults and two dogs thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the quaint cabin decorated for Christmas. It was as advertised, clean and well stocked. We did a lot of cooking while there and found all the necessities provided. The pots and pans were of good quality and easy to use. There are plenty of dishes and glassware for ten. The cabin was comfortable and large enough for all three families to have their own private space. We only wished the weather had been more amenable to use the outside patio and fire pit. The pond thawed one afternoon long enough for a couple of hearty souls to take out one of the boats. They had fun. We appreciated the expansiveness of the property but were not sure when we reached the limits of the property. We didn't want to trespass on others. Also hunting season had opened(thanks for the notice in the book) and we didn't want to be accidental targets. We enjoyed the Shaw Nature Preserve and lunch and wine tastings at Blumenhof Winery the day after Christmas. The wine was great and the folks friendly. Using our GPS we found the property without difficulty but caution those driving in after dark that the road from St. Charles has many twists and turns and limited visibility when raining. We certainly would recommend the property to others and would consider returning especially in the another season so we could appreciate all the amenities.
