About the property

"Comfortable Adventure" Awaits You At This Classic McCall “Knotty Pine” Cabin.

"Comfortable adventure" awaits you at this classic McCall “knotty pine” cabin - only steps away from Payette Lake and located on a quiet wooded lane. If you are looking to boat, sunbath, hike, bike, ATV, ski, snowmobile, snowshoe or soak in a hot spring, you will be within minutes of it all!

In the summer months, wake up, grab your coffee, chair, book and maybe a fishing pole and enjoy the sunrise at pristine “Picnic Point” beach just a short walk from your front door and overlooking the spectacular McCall mountain surroundings. For those more active vacationers, grab one of our two kayaks and paddle or fish along Payette Lake’s edge or pedal to McCall just a short bike ride away. The cabin is also just two blocks from a very nice greenbelt for walking, running or riding on.

In the winter, it’s a 5 minute ride into McCall with its’ many winter activities, or, 15 minutes to the amazing powder skiing at Brundage Mountain ski area and just 25 minutes to Idaho’s newest Tamarack resort. McCall gets lots of snow so don't forget to bring your 4 wheel drive AND chains. The main house has a thermostatically controlled gas fireplace/heater, as well as, 2 programmable floor heaters and baseboard heat. The bunk house has a programmable floor heater and baseboard heat. All very effective in keeping things very cozy.

There are two small bedrooms on the top level of the home; one with a full-size bed, the other with two foam twin beds. The main level has a queen size fold out inflatable leather couch. For privacy, comfy naps or the kids to hide out in, the 2nd separate bunkhouse has a queen size fold out inflatable leather couch on the lower level and a queen size memory foam bed on the 2nd level loft.

The fully-equipped kitchen is stocked with all the pots and pans, dinnerware for 8, and cooking utensils you will need to prepare meals. There is a six-person dining table with three extra stools at the breakfast bar. Cabin and bunkhouse are approximately 900 sq. ft. combined.

Relax and snuggle into the large sofa in the large common area and enjoy the large 50” flat screen TV, DVD player, Bose radio and high speed internet. The bunk house also has a flat screen TV, DVD and music player too! There is also a large rear deck with a BBQ grill, 8 person picnic table and the peaceful solace of the McCall pines to enjoy on our large private lot.

Did we mention that all of the furniture and furnishings of Huckleberry Hideaway are brand new as of 2015!

There's also lots of parking for your cars, toys and a large RV.

If dining out is your thing, taste the local fare at 'downtown' restaurants that provide just about anything you might want from fish, steak, sushi, pizza, Mexican, Italian and more, and most, with that uniquely McCall “step into the past” vibe.

You are close to all the popular activities in the McCall area: Fishing and boating on the Payette River and Lake, golfing, hiking in Ponderosa State Park and surrounding national forests, skiing at Brundage Mountain or Tamarack, mountain biking, shopping, dining, brewery-hopping, horseback riding, and much more!

McCall is just 95 miles from Boise at the end of a gorgeous mountain drive along the Payette river rapids. Don’t wait, come enjoy the Huckleberry HideAway experience now!

About Jeff Roth

Jeff is from Pennsylvania and Kim grew up in Southern California. We met in the Air Force and have been married since 1984. We have loved Idaho ever since we moved here in 1993. We have two grown daughters, Lana and Candice. Candice does professional videography in the medical industry and Lana loves Idaho so much she started her own Idaho native apparel company called Banana-Ink.com.

Jeff Roth purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Jeff Roth chose Southwestern Idaho

We enjoy all types of water sports! We love sailing our HobieCat kayak in Payette Lake. Kim is a certified scuba diver and in the summer it's hard to get her out of the water. We were so happy to find a cabin so close to everything! It's so peaceful amongst the cathedral of pines.

What makes this cabin unique

We chose this cabin because it's so unique with it's spiral staircase and separate bunkhouse. It's an authentic, cozy cabin experience.

Quiet and perfect in every way

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were looking for a small cabin in the woods for a short stay in McCall Idaho. We found Jeff's cabin and it was perfect for us. It had all the amenities that we wanted and Jeff even arranged a plumber to fix a small issue on short notice with no questions asked. We will def be coming back here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing vacation in a nice cabin in the woods.

We LOVE this cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved staying at the Huckleberry hideaway! The cabin is very nicely set up and well equipped with just about everything you need. The furniture is nice and the beds are firm but very comfortable. It was close to 0 degrees Fahrenheit at times during our stay but the cabin and bunk house had no problems staying warm and toasty. The gas fireplace in the cabin has a thermostat so it turns on and off automatically as needed. The owners Jeff and Kim are friendly and prompt. The surrounding area is beautiful and the cabin is approximately 2 blocks from the lake. We cannot say enough good things about this place. We definitely hope to stay here again. Thank you to Jeff and Kim for providing such a wonderful vacation retreat!

Perfectly quaint and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect place for our family. There is a lot of charm and functional room packed into a small space. The hide-a-beds were surprisingly comfortable, it was easy to stay warm and cozy, and the decor made us feel like we found a perfect slice of our own private Idaho. Well done.

Cozy

  • 4 of 5

We found the property to be exactly what we needed. The location to the beach, as well as town, was perfect. The neighbors were charming, and we had all of our basic needs met and/or available in the rental. We found it to be clean and the owners were easily accessible if we had any issues.

A Cozy Little Cabin

  • 4 of 5

The Roth's did a great job offering a clean and well organized space. The location was great, close to the lake, town and North Beach. We enjoyed a dinner and breakfast in town and kayaking up the river. We also used the kitchen and found everything we needed, although counter space was a bit limited. There was a nice above-ground fire pit in the back with plenty of wood, but no axe. We did our best to find enough kindling and a few pieces of wood which allowed us to have a nice fire for one night out of four. For unknown reasons the TV didn't work in the main cabin but we were able to watch Netflix in the Bunk house next door. For a group of adults sleeping conditions would be a bit challenging. There was a nice beach to use although we didn't spend much time there. Generally a good overall experience and the Roth's were very good to work with.

Cozy and clean with all the amenities of home!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here Aug 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The older kids stayed in the bunkhouse, and made use of the TV and Internet access during our downtime. Our toddler stayed with us in the main house, which also had a TV with Netflix/Amazon streaming access and a Bose sound system. The kitchen was well stocked, there was plenty of soft and cozy bedding, and we appreciated being able to use the grill and fire pit out back in the evenings. There were also beach towels for use on the private beach area, which was a nice amenity. Overall, I was totally impressed with the cleanliness, quaintness, and affordability, while being close to the Payette Lake and town of McCall. Jeff and Kim were easy to work with and very responsive. We appreciate them sharing their home with us during our vacation. I will note this is in a neighborhood area by the lake and is close to other cabins, so it's not a house for a lot of noise or partying. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice quiet cabin rental in McCall.
