You would be hard pressed to find a more convenient
location in Saratoga Springs.
We could not have been more disappointed than we were with this property in Saratoga Springs. The house is very run down on the exterior and the interior is not much better. The bathroom had not been cleaned after the previous guests left. there was no spare toilet paper and a partially used roll in the holder. There was moldy soap in the shower. The kitchen was understocked of useful items; no sauce pans (plenty of skillets), vegetable peeler, or sharp knives and the glassware, flatware and dishes all had to be washed before using. The windows were filthy. Between the bedroom being in the front of the house (lots of traffic noise) and the people upstairs (squeaky floors, little insulation), sleep was difficult. When we entered the basement to do laundry there were rodents running about. The machines were so dirty, we chose not to use them. The patio and grill were dirty and the garden was overgrown. There was supposed to be parking behind the house but it was on unpaved grass and usually blocked by a car forcing us to compete for parking on a busy street. From that parking area you have to walk up a side street and back around another home to Lake Ave and the front door. The only positive we can mention is its location to downtown. We are surprised that VROB would approve this rental. We would not recommend it.
We stayed here for two weeks. Bob was great and easy to reach for anything. Fast internet and a big TV with lots of channels. The apartment is in a great location, you can walk to town in 3 minutes. It is a spacious place with plenty of closet space and a large kitchen. There is accessible laundry downstairs and a nice grocery store 2 blocks away. I can recommend this apartment to anyone who wants a cute place in Saratoga! Kitchen could use a few regular size dinner plates and some wine glasses. A few new soft pillows would help, too!
This quaint one bedroom apartment was in the perfect location! We were able to enjoy walking into town with ease (only one block) and walking to the track (only one mile). The apartment was clean and comfortable! My husband and I enjoyed our stay!
This apartment felt like home from the minute we walked in. It was very spacious for a few people and had everything you needed. The kitchen had cookware, dishes, and a coffee maker with coffee. The bathroom had toilet paper with a first aid kit. There were hangers in the closets, pillows and fresh sheets on the bed, and cable TV. There are two AC units which cooled the entire apartment. The location for this apartment is perfect. There are restaurants across the street, a grocery store behind the building, a two block walk to Broadway, and an easy 20-30 minute walk to the track through the beautiful neighborhood of historical homes. There is street parking in front of the house and access in the back. We were not able to use the back parking because of other tenants, but we had no problems finding parking in front of the building. With this location you truly do not have to drive anywhere unless you are leaving the Saratoga Area. Bob was always responsive to my e-mails and phone calls. He always got back to me the same day. We look forward to staying here again!
My husband and I stayed here a few nights in August during track season. First things first -- the great things about this place definitely outweigh the quirks.
The owner was great to deal with and, upon arrival, my husband and I were thrilled to find a spotlessly clean and cool first floor unit (it was 95 with humidity on the afternoon we arrived). Everything you could need was in the unit from a kitchen supplies standpoint - including a coffee pot. The TV was also awesome because it could connect directly to our Netflix account, a nice touch when our Sunday plans got rained out. For nights we weren't rained out we were a quick walk to Broadway and Caroline Street (bars and restaurants) but not so close that the noise from the weekend crowd reached our location.
Now, the quirks/things that we're my favorite: The bathroom was pristinely clean but for two very tall people (me: 5'9; him: 6'3), the shower was a little tight. It had A+ water pressure though. For a few days, it was fine... but if you're taller than my husband, you really can't use the shower.
The one thing I would change is the mattress/pillow situation. They were both... overly firm. For two pillow top, smooshy bed sleepers, this was the only thing that was really difficult.
The apartment was in walking distance to the main drag in town and it was easy to get to the track (either a long walk or by car).
The inside was freshly cleaned and decorated nicely. We enjoyed our stay!
The only recommendation I would make is to make the first entrance to the house (the door at the porch) a little better lit at night.
Donna and Bob were easily accessible by phone.
