This historic farmhouse sits on 8 acres of private land in the quiet southeast corner of Lopez Island. The back of the property abuts San Juan Island National Monument. The large back porch has a pergola that allows guests an indoor/outdoor living experience during periods of damp or very sunny weather. There is a large pond for swimming, a tree fort for kids, and hiking trails to the top of Chadwick Hill out the back door. Two large covered porches provide cover from sun and rain with lovely views. The property is surrounded by a deer fence making it perfect for dog owners.
An excellent choice for many short interesting hikes on south end of Lopez.
A cozy, comfortable, impeccably restored 1910 farmhouse on a one-of-a-kind property in a great location on the best island in the San Juan Islands. What more could you want? We loved every minute and can't wait to return.
We had a wonderful stay on Lopez Island. The property is a special place perfect for persons wanting a true country experience with so many opportunities to explore. From the farm house and a short walk through fields and pastures we came across an amazing hike that took us all the way to the beach; just outside the gates of the house are miles of fantastic roads for biking enthusiasts; and with no internet or t.v to distract us, all we did at night was relax.
Lopez is an amazingly bucolic place and Kissingfish Farm may be the epicenter of all that is Lopez. Great walking access out the back door to the shaded trail to the top of Chadwick Hill, a remarkable spot on its own although I missed the hammock that used to be there, to Watmough Bay and to the beach cove at Blackie Brady County Park or you can just never leave the house's two porches. Close to Iceberg Point and the South End grocery/restaurant. Really no need to even go to the village and the village will suddenly seem very urban after staying at the farm for a few days. Extremely quiet. Good birding. The kitchen is well equipped and the house is comfortably appointed. A wonderful place to stay.
We felt like part of the family in this warm and welcoming home. The grounds are gorgeous. We especially enjoyed the big back porch with big table and lots of comfy seating. Eagles and hawks swooped overhead. In the morning there is nothing better than coffee on the porch swing listening to the birds, frogs and cows. Thanks for sharing your wonderful farm!
We absolutely loved staying at Kissingfish. We felt right at home, were comfortable with our sleeping arrangements and loved the farm. Hiking trails out the back door, pond with yoga platform, zipline!, tree house. All of the stress from life and city living immediately melted away the minute we stepped onto the farm. Not having cell phone service, data plan availability or wi-Fi was the best part! It forced us to really enjoy the simple things in our lives and the beauty of nature and quiet island life. The owner was gracious and welcoming-there were a few things that weren't ready for us when we arrived and he immediately offered solutions. We had to call him a couple of times and he was friendly and kind...loved their home. It is truly a special place where his home exudes the love of he and his family. I can't say enough positive things. My child was carefree and happy and could run free. The birds singing, the geese honking and the frogs! Loved all of the sounds. It was like a nature sounds cd right in our backyard. We will definitely be back hopefully sooner than later.
