Great host and experience!
My family stayed here in February for 4 days.
We stayed 3 different places in Costa Rica, and Paula and her help Luis were by far our favorite and most helpful of all the places we stayed.
When traveling to a new country, it's a little stressful for me. But they really made me feel at ease with recommending some of the best tours we went on, getting us a discount, and giving us great recommendations on how to get around as well as restaurants. They were always there at a moment's notice if I needed help with anything, which was worth the price of the house alone.
You can take the bus anywhere in this area, as long as you're willing to wait 25 minutes less. It's a pretty authentic and fun experience. There are several small grocery stores and a main one close by.
The house is under the canopy- we had many monkeys travel over our house, saw countless Macaws flying over, and even saw a toucan right down the street (as well as many other birds and iguanas) - even though the main road is only 300 yards away. I am an early riser and heard howler monkeys at 5:30 am while outside but they were not audible inside.
The house is clean and very well maintained. Like most homes in Costa Rica, there isn't a dishwasher and it's on septic, so you have to be mindful of what you put in the pipes. The A/C works great but try to be mindful that electricity is 4x the price of the US and the insulation isn't as good- Use it if you want, but turn it off on the way out if you're going out for a while.
Have fun here- amazing country with even better people.
Thank you so much for the kind words!!
It is very gratifying when we have guests come and stay and feel welcome and safe and have a great experience :)
Great guests and the photos you took are amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing!
You will be welcome back as guests anytime :) Thanks again
Great property for monkey watching! Five adults stayed and it was very comfy!
5 adults stayed here 4 nights. Paula was very accommodating; we loved our welcome basket which included coffee, tea and some fruit. We were very happy with the casa. We arrived earlier than check-in and she let us store our luggage at her place so we could meander around town before checking in. The garage is ideal for the daihatsu that we rented, and the pics of the pool don't do it justice - it's much larger than it appears in the pics, it's located above the garage and you have an area up there that is ideal for tanning or a great vantage point for watching traffic go by down the road. It has a built-in grill as well. There's a covered veranda w/bistro table and chairs for breakfast and morning coffee, and comfy rocking chairs that we really enjoyed while watching the monkeys. The monkeys - oh the monkeys! We were entertained every day with visits from spider monkeys and white-faced monkeys. They love the berries on the trees nearby, they stop to take a drink from the pool and play in the trees above the roofline. If you love monkeys, this is THE place for you. There was also a sloth on the tree right across the street from us. We wandered the local area and found the trail that leads to a nearby waterfall w/a rope for water access. It's dry season so we couldn't swim, but our friends enjoyed the short picturesque hike. There is a bus stop is nearby if you want to bus it to Quepos or the beach at Manuel Antonio, but a local beach, Playa Biezans is much closer, calm waters and less touristy but go at HIGH tide - easier to wade over the rocks and a sandy bottom just a few feet out, chairs for rent, nice for snorkeling and staff will bring you drinks and you get a tupperware to store your items if you rent a chair. Staff is very friendly, not pushy at all. We spent a half day here and enjoyed every minute. You park at the top trail entrance and take a short hike down the hill to the bay. It's a lovely beach. There is a grocery store just a short drive away from the casa, restaurants, pharmacy, whatever you need is a short drive or bus ride away. The only downside to the rental is the third bedroom (single bed) doesn't have air conditioning so that door needs to be left open at night to get the cooler air from the living room, but the air conditioners work VERY well to cool the place pretty fast, and like the other rooms, that room has a ceiling fan. The property is very secure, and there are laundry facilities on site which is great. A+
We are so glad you enjoyed your time at Casa Amiga!!
It is a great little place and you can't beat the wildlife that shows up to entertain you :)
Thanks again for choosing us and hope you can return some day.......
Casa Amiga Exceeded our Expectations!!
This little Casa was amazing!! It had everything we needed and more! We were often entertained by the little monkeys who loved to sit or lay by the side of the pool and splash! The location was good- 50 metres on a side street off the main road. Walking on the main road is a bit scary because of all the curves in the road causing blind corners and the drivers drive very very fast! So take the bus or a white taxi ( the refined will take advantage of tourists and charge WAY more than the white ones- the white taxis had very good drivers). Casa Amiga has a lovely front porch with lots of chairs and a little pool to cool off in! Paula has been amazing to deal with from booking to check in and was available throughout our stay if we needed any advice or help- thanks Paula!!!
So glad you enjoyed yourselves! Kind of hard not to; right? lol
You guys were great guests and would definitely want you to come back for a visit :)
Excellent location. Easy to get to Quepos, and Manual Antonio Park by local bus.
We stayed at Casa Amiga with another couple for four days. We had excellent communication with Paula throughout the booking process. She helped us book tours, recommended excellent restaurants near the house, and was very helpful to us during our stay.
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay :)
There are so many things to see and do and all within a few minutes......
Thanks so much for choosing to stay with us and hopefully you can come again!

The national motto in Costa Rica, "Pura Vida" sums up the culture and atmosphere you will experience during your stay in Manuel Antonio. The literal translation for Pura Vida is Pure Life. But everyone in Costa Rica uses it as a greeting or a way of saying good bye, etc. People say that the surfers brought that phrase here in the sixties and it was said to express the love of the simple and pure lifestyle. You will hear it a lot once you get here. Costa Rica is ranked the #1 Happiest Country on the Planet. Relax and enjoy your vacation where people choose to live the simple life.
