Sugar Ridge is a private gated community nestled into a hillside where sugar cane was once grown.
Cotton House is situated on a corner lot midway up the hill. The one with the blue roof! It is a "green" house with (17) solar panels and 12,000 gallon cistern to collect rainwater which is purified for the house. It has two en suite bedrooms in the main house and a third en suite bedroom in the detached cottage at the rear of the property.
There are three window "walls" comprised of floor to ceiling sliding glass doors which recess into pocket frames in the living/dining great room. This creates a refreshing cool breeze that flows through the house all day long.
The large verandah pleases sun & shade lovers equally and is lovely for every meal of the day. You will have the hard job every day to pick which of the two lounging areas you are in the mood for.
The infinity edge pool is accompanied by a smaller lounging pool perfect for happy hour.
The courtyard is a nice, cool spot to relax in the late afternoon.
There is plenty of space to park a rental car beyond the remote controlled entrance gate.

Lovely house with beautiful views of Jolly Harbour

We stayed for 12 nights in Cotton House. The house is perched on the side of Sugar Ridge. Sugar Ridge is a secluded estate with security access. The house is as described with comfortable beds and AC in the bedroom only. The kitchen is well appointed, but we ate out most nights. The plunge pool has beautiful views towards the west. The house was nicely furnished. The hill is very steep but one can walk down to a supermarket, restaurants and even the beach. The walk up would be a challenge but there are taxis in the area. Our largest issue was with the building work just below us where a house was being built with hammering, drilling and general building work going on all day - Monday to Saturday. Also above are other houses being built with frequent large building tracks trundling past at a very slow pace due to the steepness of the hill. At the level of the house is a sleeping policeman which means the trucks have to do into first. The next door plot might be for sale as constant strimming work was being done and people were viewing this property. I’m sure the building work is a temporary and intermittent, but we were unlucky to have it every day. We were never informed of his potential building. I reached out to the owner, who was surprised of the building work starting so early, but at least it was only from eight till five! The videos taken are a “joy” to watch. So five stars for the cottage, but only two stars for the noise.

Great property, perfect for our family. Very smooth experience with Jenn. Easy to find, close to shops and restaurants and in, what we believe, is the nicest part of Antigua. 100% recommend and we would visit again

Wonderful holiday at Cotton House, Sugar Ridge, Antigua

We had a fantastic 10 days at Cotton house. It was everything it was described - a truly lovely luxury villa with large rooms, welcome pools and wonderful views. Renting the property was really easy and Jenn the owner and Mitty the manager were both so helpful. There’s a supermarket only 3 mins drive and it’s close to several beaches and restaurants. We rented a car - I don’t think I could have managed the hill to the villa on foot in the heat- and it made exploring the island much easier. Definitely 5 star.

I am from Pennsylvania and I love to travel! Owning our own businesses had afforded us the freedom to explore the world with our two children. We are very grateful for this. Throughout our travels we kept returning to the sea, whether on a boat or on a coastline. We knew living near the ocean was inevitable and in 2015 it finally happened.

Why they chose this property

On our initial visit to the island of Antigua we stayed at the Sugar Ridge resort. During our stay I noticed building activity up above the resort and inquired what was going on. The response was a new housing development. That peaked our interest and we asked for a tour of one of the houses. I'll never forget the awe I felt once we entered the home, turned the corner and saw the most incredible view of the ocean (any ocean). We were speechless after a big Wow! And so our big decision to have the same thing for ourselves & you the renter started with that view.
The next year we rented that same house to experience "life" on Antigua & loved every minute of it. During our stay we met with the developer & sealed the deal a few months later. It is truly a dream come true and I hope you feel a little dreamy staying at Cotton House too!

What makes this property unique

I am amazed by the sense of total relaxation that just seems to happen the moment you walk in the front door, open the sliders & stroll out to the verandah. Normal hectic life back home just fades away. You sleep better, eat better, laugh more. You realize no stress is a good goal to have. I hope my home has the same effect on you. I don't want you to worry about anything. The lovely staff at Antigua and Barbuda Sothebys International Realty will take care of anything you need during your stay as they do for me when I am here.
