What a great retreat in this character-full home that is located on the first street east of Woodruff Place. With an amazing kitchen. The home has a king bed in the master, and a queen in another bedroom and a twin bed in another. The living room has a sectional couch and has a large flat screen with cable . Of course there is free wifi . The kitchen has all modern amenities including a coffee maker and toaster. (We do not provide any groceries although there may be some basic spices etc.) The private fenced backyard has a nice table and chairs to enjoy some drinks or just to chill after a long day in downtown. In the basement there is a washer and dryer for your use. ( Detergent is not provided.) PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE IN THE HOME. No pets allowed unless pre-approved.
We stayed in this house for a week and LOVED it! The house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Hopefully its available the same time next year!!!
Beautiful home. Enjoyed it very much.
overall good place to stay. the area is a little rough. the parking can be a problem. if you have 2 cars you are out of luck.
The house in Woodruff Place was spacious and clean. The up and coming neighborhood has an old victorian charm. Everything was as expected for our short stay. We were able to commute easily between downtown and the house morning and night.
So we have stayed at many vacation rentals over the years and I usually leave reviews. I believe in being fair. Here is my assessment:
-Location, Location, Location
-Owner seemed nice enough
-They provided shampoo and conditioners and basic kitchen supplies.
-Good Internet and TV.
-Dirty House. For Paying a cleaning fee, I was not impressed with the property at all. There was dust everywhere, cobwebs above the bed and plenty of dirt to go around.
-Bad Neighborhood. It is a lower working class neighborhood in a large city. Obviously not a place to stay on a vacation.
-Creaky Stairs. It is an old house, so this is to be expected, but they were louder than any stairs I have ever been on and they are right next to the largest bedroom upstairs.
-No off street parking.
-Animal hair all over the couch. It is fine to have animals in the house, but very important to keep the hair picked up during the cleaning(that you will pay $30 for).
Overall, I would not recommend this location to stay at when comparing it to the numerous we have stayed at. I prefer safe neighborhoods and clean houses. Again, the owner is great and was more than willing to offer help if needed, but I felt like the only way to keep safe was to bring a guard dog and chain him up in the front yard.
Old home with charm in old but recovering neighborhood. Only the basics. But all we needed. If returning to Indy certainly would consider staying again.
