About Bob Chicca

Why Bob Chicca chose Mission Beach
We picked this property because we fell in love with it and feel that it is just a wonderful place to be at the beach and enjoy the area.
What makes this Condo unique
This place is unique in being right on the Bay and having a grass area right in front of the door to play and picnic on with the sandy beach and bay right there. The grass even helps keep the sand out of the house as you go in and out. Sitting on the porch you see San Diego and the fireworks from Sea World right there to see whenever they are fired off.

Bob, the owner, did a wonderful job of communicating with us in advance so accessing the property was simple. The front porch is awesome. Love the swing! The bedrooms are private and comfortable. The living area is large with wonderful leather sofas that accommodate everyone. Good sized kitchen with most of what you need. I did bring laundry soap and dryer sheets and needed them. A few repairs are needed in the bathrooms (tp holder downstairs and tub surface in upstairs) but the only thing keeping me from giving the property five stars is the cleaning service. Although the downstairs tile had been swept, it had not been cleaned. I realized this when I used a paper towel to wipe up some water on the kitchen floor, and it was black with dirt. And although we had not yet generated any trash we discovered the outdoor recycling bin was totally full. Otherwise we had a great time with family in this beautiful location.
We stayed here with 5 children, which you would think would be trying. However, this location made it easy. It was across from the bay with a little grassy area for the kids to play. We were able to watch while swinging on the porch swing. Also, it took us a total of 4 minutes to get to the beach, walking, with kids in tow. Being that this isn’t directly on the beach it allowed for more privacy than staying right on the crowded boardwalk.
The property was clean and even had some chairs and boogie boards available, which was a nice surprise.
Next time we book a trip to Mission Beach we agreed it would be at this location.
Great Bayside Beach House
We really enjoyed our stay in Bob & Vanessa’s beach house and would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect for morning walks to the coffee shop and evening strolls to dinner. The home is spacious and comfortable. We spent quite a bit of time on the front porch swing enjoying the view of the bay. One thing worth mentioning is the kitchen does contain pots, pans and silverware but there are no spices like salt & pepper or tin foil & ziplock bags. Keep that in mind if you plan on cooking in the home. Also, there were quite a few people in the unit above us that were loud at times. It was 4th of July week though and there was quite a bit of excitement in the area. Watching fireworks from the front porch was a highlight of our stay!
Glad that you enjoyed your stay. Appreciate your comments!

Great bayfront home!
Had a great stay at this bayfront house. The porch swing facing the bay is a very nice touch and great for relaxing while having coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. The porch also has an awning for shade, small table w/ 2 chairs (just right for eating meals out there) and a small natural gas grill. The house is open and spacious and even though the whole house hasn’t been upgraded, it’s a very nice functional place. Oh, and the living room couches are very roomy and comfy. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place.
Here are a few things I feel are worth sharing:
Bathrooms: Well stocked with towels and toilet paper – but remember folks, this isn’t a hotel so if you have a bigger group or will be taking numerous showers (after all it is a water activity spot) take advantage of the washer/dryer in the unit. Consider it a home away from home and bring your own laundry soap/softener/dryer sheets (this way you’ll always have fresh/soft towels). And don't forget your bath toiletries and other necessities (hair dryer, flat iron, etc).
Kitchen: Has a Keurig coffee maker and fully stocked with utensils, glassware, dishes and cookware – albeit not the newest cookware but functional; dishwasher works but needs the controls fixed (they were loose/flimsy); and don’t bother with the older coffee maker that’s there as it doesn’t work or at least I couldn’t get it to work.
Garage: It’s standard so a car or small SUV will fit. My Mazda CX-5 fit just right. One important thing to note – if you back your SUV in and are going to unload be careful of the sharp edge on the sloped wall (tried but couldn't figure out how to add pictures to my review to show you all) when opening your lift gate. I used a towel to cushion the lift gate from the sharp edge of the wall but saw where others have likely not realized this and hit it.
Carport: Appeared to be less than standard size. I didn’t try to fit my CX-5 there but I’m guessing it would have been a tight fit. A compact car would likely fit just fine though. Also, aside from the garbage cans needing to be in that space, people use the walkway on that side to get over to the bayside from the alley, so I wouldn’t want to park there unless I really had to.
easy to rent this property.
Fun family and friend getaway
Had a nice time, great location with little kids by the bay, shops, and walking paths.
When we got in the place hadn’t been cleaned. Luckily bob was able to get cleaners out but it meant not being able to check in until 8:00 pm. Did provide a refund for that night.
There was no blow dryer, the dish washer could use a replacement, there is a bbq but it’s not listed on the site. Older style decor but comfortable. Not enough toiletries for an 8 day stay and had to buy laundry detergent, lighter for bbq, and toilet paper. Could use a restocking of basic necessities for those staying longer than a couple nights.
Overall great location and fun trip.
This is right in the heart of Mission Beach and close to everything. Right on the bay front and steps to the Ocean.
