About the property

3BR, 2BA in rustic location but near everything in Upper Valley

Welcome to the information page for our guest cottage in Sharon, Vermont, close to all the attractions in the Upper valley but secluded enough to feel like you are far away from the city. As we wind our way through the winter into spring in Vermont, we encourage you to consider our property for a visit. We are happy to answer any questions and to try to meet any special requests you may have.

After a pretty tough 2017-18 winter, we are anticipating a great spring and summer 2018. The pool typically opens Memorial Day weekend, and the snow here is almost melted as of early April, 2018.

We have a lovely, low-key guest house for rent on our property in Sharon, VT. The house has 3BRs/2BAs, a full kitchen, an eating area adjacent to the kitchen, a largish LR (with a sleeper sofa), and a pleasant outdoor patio with a beautiful view west to the green mountains of Vermont. There is a roughly 1 acre side yard in which kids and dogs can play without leaving the property. The kitchen is well stocked with a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, both a Nespresso and a Keurig coffee machine, all cooking needs, etc. The house has an excellent stereo with two (count 'em) pairs of excellent speakers (one set is B&W), and wifi. We have propane heat and a pellet stove, and the house is well insulated. We are happy to welcome considerate guests who are not expecting the Four Seasons but a low key, very pleasant house in a great Vermont location.

The house is about 20 minutes to Hanover, NH (home to Dartmouth), 20 minutes to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, 15 minutes to "downtown" Norwich, 35 minutes to Queechee and Woodstock, VT, 45 minutes to Montpelier, within an hour to outstanding ski locations in VT (Killington, Stowe, Pico etc.), 1.2 hours to Burlington, 1.5 hours to Manchester NH, 2 hours to Boston, 3 hours to Montreal. Also, an excellent home base to view outstanding Vermont fall foliage.

We are happy to respond to inquiries and do our best to respond within 24 hours.

* There are 3 BRs and a sleeper in the LR. BR1 has a king bed with 2 night tables, BR2 has two single beds (only 1 is shown in photos), BR 3 has a single bed and a bunk bed (only the single bed is shown in the photo).

* We generally consider maximum capacity to be 8 people. IF YOU PROPOSE A LARGER GROUP, WE MUST DISCUSS IT IN ADVANCE.

* Please pardon the amateur quality of the photos. They are marked to show location/point of view. Note that 3 shots have been added to show some views of the adjacent conservancy property, as well as a sunset view from the side yard.

Why Joseph Ronan chose Sharon

As they say at Dan & Whit's in Norwich, if this house doesn't have it, you don't need it.

What makes this cottage unique

Peace, love and understanding. Walking distance of a great conservancy property. Access to on-property pool during the summer and a firepit. In the winter, we can lend you cross-country skis and/or snowshoes.

We stayed while visiting family near by. The home was perfect for us! Low key nice view and of the grid just enough but with all the amenities you could ask for..

My wife and our 2 dogs loved the house. The pool was great and the house was even more spacious than the pictures showed.

Amazing place and even better hospitality!

  • 5 of 5

The house is amazing! We went as a family for a graduation, but the place would also be ideal for a group of friends. There is an amazing hike near by, with a beautiful lake that has even got some little boats that you can use. The house was super clean when we arrived, the internet worked perfectly; and the owners have got a smart TV set up and ready to use. They have also got a pool and a beautiful fire place. They were welcoming and ready to answer any questions that we had, even to help us find great place to eat around.

We loved it!

Great time at this lovely house and property

  • 4 of 5

The house and property deserve a 5 but a few safety issues prompted an overall 4 rating. The driveway to the home was very icy and the walkway to the front door was treacherous when we arrived. I had to wear my hiking spikes to carry the luggage up the small hill. Also there are no outside lights on the house. The last concern was the lack of a house key the door is always unlocked. The property itself is wonderful, with great sunsets over the Green Mts in the background and a really special nature conservancy across the street. It was great to ski and snowshoe right out the door. The house was bright and had plenty of room...could sleep at least 8 people. We would certainly recommend it and stay there again. The owner, Joe, was very responsive to any concern and lives next door. He is a great guy!

Owner's Response: As mentioned, sorry for the ice situation. As to the key, we do have one and would have been happy to get it to you. I didn't realize that you actually wanted it, so I must have misunderstood. There are lights on the outside of the house that are supposed to be triggered by a motion detector but apparently it is not working properly, so I need to attend to that. Hope to see you again!

Lovely comfortable home for family.

  • 5 of 5

My family of four had a lovely week at this house. The home is more spacious than it appears in the photos, and the open kitchen/living room is very comfortable. It is set far back from the road so it was very quiet, and my kids enjoyed exploring the lawn and running down the long hill, and we all liked hiking the trails directly from the property. The owner's dogs paid us regular visits which my kids enjoyed immensely as well. It was a pretty 20 min drive into the Norwich/Hanover area and the main highway artery to get you anywhere in VT is a 5 min drive.
