Toccoa River Valley Retreat, Private Dock, Great Fishing, Relaxing Setting!
Ellen and Dan Smith
Why Ellen and Dan Smith chose Mineral Bluff
We purchased this property in 2014 and completely renovated it in 2015, with the vacation renter market in mind. The log front porch with cedar siding was created to add significant curb appeal from the road and an amazing place to spend the majority of your vacation. We could sit out there for hours, sipping some wine, eating some cheese and crackers, and lounging in the hot tub. This property has the perfect mix of amenities and location! The Toccoa River is amazing - so clean and refreshing when it's hot out! The fishing is incredible and we are located at a part in the river where it is wide, with a few deep pockets for fish, and privately owned, so it is not fished as heavily as other sections of the river. On hot day, sitting on the dock, dipping our toes in the water or maybe venturing out on a tubing ride - it's heavenly!
What makes this Cabin unique
It's rare to find a property this large - 3 acres - and this beautiful - within minutes of all kinds of mountain attractions. Blue Ridge is 15 minutes away and has some of the best restaurants and dining options you'll find any where, including a much larger city. We love Harvest on Main, Christie Lee's, and Black Sheep for better fare, but the little advertised Masseria (owned by same restaurateur as Harvest), is a gem for a fraction of the price. Also love La Pizzeria and Cucina Rustica in Morganton. Take time out for yourself and walk the amazing shops on W. Main Street. You'll find unique gifts for any occasion and it's easy to stock up for the Holiday Season, even when it's July. For a quick grocery run, Copper Hill/ McCaysville has a great little IGA about 4 miles away. We also love Rolling Thunder tubing company and browsing some of the shops can also be a nice past time. Murphy, NC is located about 30 minutes away, including the new Harrah's Valley River Casino. Great for a rainy day past time.

Cabin was great.
We were thinking the dock would be right at the cabin however, you had to go down the hill from the cabin to the road then down another hill to the dock and river. It turned out ok. We got lots of exercise. Really enjoyed our stay.
Nice Trout River
Great place. House is not right on the river but a short walk away and nice private riverfront deck. Would rent it again.
The WOW Factor
Stunning hideaway for a long weekend! Perfect for a romantic get away.
We had a blast walking the roads, site seeing in Blue Ridge and enjoying down time out of the city.
Ellen was GREAT to work with and we will be back!
Heaven on the River
The River Valley Retreat is absolute heaven. Everything is well kept and very clean. We enjoyed everything this place and the surrounding area has to offer. Must stay if you’re heading to the river for the week or weekend!
Great cabin !
Enjoyed our stay ! The property is on the river, just a bit of a hike to get to the river from the cabin .
Fantastic getaway! Gorgeous relaxing cabin!
Highly recommend this cabin. We booked it extremely last minute (the day before). You never know if last minute cabin rental will workout but we felt at ease because of the quick response time when we submitted a couple questions. We had a few other questions along the way during our stay and we got instant resolution because of amazing response time. This owner is willing to pick up the phone and call you. Cannot say enough good things about communication.
Shall we chat about the cabin? Its quaint and practically perfect for two people. The kitchen has everything you need (including a crockpot). Only thing missing is scissors. You don’t realize how many things you open with scissors until you don’t have them. We grilled a bunch. It’s a really nice grill and it had it’s own covered area which was great since we did some grilling in the rain. We ate our meals on the outdoor covered patio. The front patio has rocking chairs and a full sized table. There is a clean and nice hot tub on the uncovered portion of the patio. No issues with the hot tub. Worked great. The bedroom is like 75% bed. Not really any space for luggage but it’s worth the sacrifice for the king bed (am I right?!?!???). Bed is high quality. firmness level is extremely soft. The bathrooms and laundry room are great. The place is clean. Whatever the charge is for the cleaning fee it’s so worth it. Staying in an extremely clean place is difference maker for someone like me with allergies. It’s pet and smoke free. The dehumidifier also keeps the place feeling oh some comfortable and cool. Speaking of cool, the AC is great.
The dock is super nice and has safe stairs to get you into the water. We loved sitting out there and watching people kayak.
We have a brand new Luxury sedan with the sport body kit and the drive into the cabin was no issue at all. Ignore the comment about needing an SUV. You got this!!!
Why did I invest this much time in a review? One of our jobs is 100% travel and we stay in a ton of places. We know the ins and outs of what makes a place nice to stay in. We were impressed and actually glad we stayed in a small cabin as opposed to the large properties we previously stayed in.
Located approximately 15 minutes from Blue Ridge, GA, 6 minutes from Copper Hill, TN, and 30 minutes from the new Valley River Casino in Murphy, NC, provides visitors with a very diverse and interesting choice of mountain activities. There are great restaurants, places to fish, hike, swim, and play all throughout this tri-state area.
