Enjoy a magical time at The LakeStar Retreat at beautiful Gotham Bay on Lake Coeur d Alene. Your charming private suite with two decks and bathroom also has majestic lake views. This suite has a "kitchenette" with microwave, frig, toaster oven and coffee maker, and outdoor grill. There is a private entrance too. So comfortable queen bed with the sound of the lake lapping you to sleep. And on those cold days, let your bare feet enjoy the heated floor in your suite. There is a sitting room/optional second bedroom and bath with fireplace off the hot tub deck with lake view as well (extra charge for use of second bedroom as sleeping quarters). Enjoy the outdoor shower too! Use of infrared sauna, and hot tub. Wireless internet for your peaceful days down at the dock where you can park your boat, fish for small mouth bass and swim. There is a rustic path down to the lake. Local hiking and biking.
Famous resort golf course, shopping and restaurants only 25 minutes to charming Coeur d 'Alene. Laundry too!
NOTE ON WINTER VISITS: If you choose to visit us when there is snow and/or ice on the ground, we require that you have at minimum an all wheel drive and some experience driving on snow and ice. The road close to us is always kept open. Our access road is also always kept open, and can be difficult at times without all wheel drive and some experience driving on snow/ice. In addition, we often close the private entrance to your suite for safety, but not to worry, as the front door leads immediately to your suite.
Ted and I love nature and I, Bonnie love the water in all forms having grown up on the ocean. We have lived here now only two wonderful years having moved from Los Angeles. We offer diverse growth oriented workshops that involve couple's intimacy, men's groups, women's groups, communication, meditation and Bonnie sacred movement and health. Ted is an avid soccer coach and fan. We love to great food and wines, music, dancing, hiking, traveling into the wilderness, and being with our friends and family who live all over the country. Our lives and work have been active at a global level and we have scaled back to enjoy more of our inner life.
Property Manager/Owner purchased this house in 2011
Our LakeStar home was designed and built by us. We spent many years planning just where the sunlight would shine through in each window and how to make rooms that our guests would have privacy and enjoy the majestic beauty of the lake just as we do. Our home is also just as comfortable in the wintertime with radiant heated floors and a fireplace that you can enjoy next to the hot tub.We are so blessed to live in this magical spot and hope to share the splendor of nature here with you!
Bring your boat and tie it up in our deep water boat slip.
Although the pictures of the house are wonderful they don't begin to compare to the house itself. We were met by Ted in the driveway, were given a tour of the lodging and left to ourselves. It was only by accident we saw Ted the next day. The beautiful lodgin is listed as a suite but is in reality a separate living area. Most of time I wondered if our hosts were even at home. The views from the porches were simply wonderful, and even though the weather didn't cooperate on Saturday, we just wrapped up and stilled spent a good portion on the covered porch. Realize it is a kitchette but with a little advanced menu planning you can do quite well with the barbeque and microwave. It was a perfect 44th anniversary for us. Thanks Ted and Bonnie
Ted & Bonnie were lovely as is their home. I did not read the description as well as I should have done so these misconceptions were totally MY FAULT! I had assumed from the picture and knowing it had a dock that it was right on the water. It is ACROSS THE STREET and you have to walk down a rough path and cross the street to access the water and you hear the cars on the street at night. I really wish the owners would provide a kayak so that the beautiful location and water could be enjoyed. There is nothing close by to rent something as you are 30 minutes from CDA. There is a "private entrance" but to access that again, you have to walk down a rough path which is quite inconvenient. It is not really a private entrance to your room but rather to the opposite end of the basement and then you walk past the stairs where you can hear the owners talking above. They allow you to use the main level front door but my husband felt too weird doing that (again, our problem). The use of the Jacuzzi was wonderful although some instructions would have been helpful. There is no where to eat out close by, so we bought some TV dinners (YUK) to heat in the microwave. If the owners had provided some cooking utinsils and a pan or two, there is a single burner on the outside Barbecue and we could have cooked better food. I would also suggest a dish drying mat, as we had to wash dishes in the small sink. We LOVED having a private deck off our bedroom, we saw the most amazing sunset over the lake, it just took our breath away. There are comfortable chairs on the deck and a small Bistro table to eat on. My biggest complaint was the décor of the room. The dresser top was FULL of personal nick knacks, dried lavender, candles and there was hardly anywhere to set your purse or phone without worrying about breaking something fragile. There was a large teddy bear on the floor making the space even smaller and adding to the feeling that you were in "their" extra bedroom rather than "your" own guest room. Again, the location is BEAUTIFUL but quite remote. We spent one day in Harrison which was fun, took a boat ride, ate ice cream and looked in a few shops. I don't want to be negative, but I do want to help others know what to expect and help Ted & Bonnie improve their guests experience. Again, they were great hosts and their home is BEAUTIFUL! We are new to "house sharing" and have learned that we like a little more privacy!
I selected this property for our stay in the area based on the view of the lake and the peace and quiet that a property like this would provide. When we arrived Ted showed us to our room and pointed out the TV / reading room as well as the deck and hot tub with a two sided fireplace that we could enjoy. There was a sauna room just off the bedroom but we did not use it during this stay. After Ted completed the tour, my wife said, how do you find such beautiful places for us to stay. The room and furnishings were very nice and the kitchenette in the room worked out great for small snacks and meals in the morning. We would highly recommend staying here and taking full advantage of all it has to offer for a quiet get away. As mentioned in other reviews, the heated toilet seat was fantastic, probably going to be an owner of one in the future!!
Great place to R&R, and get away from the city. High lights include lake view & swimming, hot tub & outdoor shower! A little tricky with the kitchenette (as we stayed 5 days, using BBQ, toaster oven & microwave) but we were able to work it out. Also Huttons had great pizzas & sandwiches on the way to the location. Would recommend!
We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful home. They were incredibly accomidating with our delayed arrival due to our airline, and stayed up late to make sure we were comfortable. The home is gorgeous both inside and out, and the guest level offered complete privacy. We highly suggest anyone staying near Coeur d'Alene to concider this property.
Great home away from home place to stay with Ted and Bonnie. All the little touches that they have done in the room and en suite are so nice. You can tell they put a lot of time and thought into every detail. We felt so comfortable and welcome. It was also a great place to have a little boat. Only 15 min by boat into downtown CDA, and a nice quiet bay to keep it protected while we slept. You can see your boat from the room - which is also nice to have. Thank you Ted and Bonnie - we hope to be back some day. Best wishes.
