About Ana Tuma

We are a family of 4 ; parents and two boys and we live between Slovenia and Italy. We love our villa Aurora and like to spend our free time here. As we don't have as much of free time and holidays as we would like to have we decided to share Villa Aurora with our guests.

Why Ana Tuma chose Strunjan

Because it is an excellent mixture of ' away from it all' and the 'social life': situated in the middle of the protected Natural Park and yet it is so near all the facilities such as great shopping, cinema, sports and leisure activities .

What makes this villa unique

The front terrace for unforgettable breakfasts

Guestbook comments from the manager

“Gorgeous home located in the middle of Strunjan Nature Reserve. The house is relatively new- it was built in 2007 in a place of an old villa. The inside of the house is exactly like on the picture but the surroundings exceeded our expectations. The house faces a huge plot of land that belongs to the property with flowers and an apple tree. As far as the eyes can see, there are rolling hills of the peninsula with olive trees and grape vines. There is a huge place to park that could possibly fit 10 cars. The house itself consists of 2 units that are almost identical. We had a very nice family as our neighbors. There is also a small converted orangerie on the property about 30 meters away from the main house, where Ana and her family spent the weekend. There was also an outdoor grill, where we grilled amazing fish bought at a local fish market in Izola. Behind the house there was also a ping pong table 🏓 which was nice to entertain the kids. We vacationed there with our 2 year old twins and an older daughter. The space was safe to let them roam around on their own. Inside, the house was sparkling clean when we arrived and it was nice to have one air conditioner per floor as a bonus. There were some mosquitos in the evening but they were not a problem if you use one of those burners that scare them off. The most important thing was the beach! There is an easy accessible beach near hotel Svoboda (about 15 minutes walk, 800 meters). It has a cafe, paid parking, showers, entertainment! We were there only for a quick swim. Most of the time we went to the beach in the half moon bay which is about the same distance away but is a bit of a hike. You go up a paved road about 600 meters to the top of the cliffs and then take a trail down to the beach. The trail consists of man- made dirt stairs that our 2-year-olds walked on their own but slow. I recommend wearing normal shoes, although flip flops are doable as well. The half moon beach is probably the most beautiful beach on the Slovenian coast with pristine clear waters and dramatic coastline as well as very few people even on the weekend when it gets a little crazy. I would recommend bringing bikes if you can as there so much to explore in the surrounding area. Restaurants: Koral in Izola (best food we had in Slovenia) or Primorka on the beach near the property is not bad. Grocery shopping: Spar in Izola or Lidl. Also we heard wonderful things about a local farmer market called Koper Agrarno(?) but didn't make it.

Just perfect

  • 5 of 5

We (4 cyclists crossing the alps) have had a wonderful stay at Villa Aurora. The villa is perfectly located in the bucolic Strunjan area and in walking distance to the cliffs. The house itself is very well maintained and we didn't miss out on anything during our stay. There even is a table for table tennis and rackets. Ana, the landlady, and her family are very loveable and reliable people. We would always come back!

Dear Ana,

We would like to thank you so much for a wonderful stay at Villa Aurora. We had a great time and made friends with the family in the maisonette next door. The breakfasts at the terrace are unforgattable so are the trips and the beaches and the restaurants near the villa.

We wish you all the best and see you in june next year,

This place is magical!!!

  • 5 of 5

This place is magical !!! What more can one wish for from a getaway spot? Lovely decor to every detail, a front porch perfect for sitting and contemplating, a side area for relaxing and watching the stars, a generally pristine vibe. It's also JUST off the main drag so the food, thrifting, and supplies are only a hop and skip away. Perfect for families, we'll be back. Thank you!!!!!

Lovely house in the middle of nature

  • 4 of 5

We were very surprised by the size of the house, very big with everything you need! Plenty of space to sit and play in the garden. Walking distance to the beach and a lovely restaurant. The town Strunjan in a very nice village in the middle of nature. We visited Ljubjana, Postojna cave, Predjama castle, Koper,Portoroz, Piran, Izola, Skocjan cave, Lipica and we did a bike tour to the salt fields and museum. We went to the adventure park for climbing in the trees.

And still enough to see and to do! We did miss our own bikes, next time we will bring them. Everything can be easy vistited by car.

We love Slovenia and villa Aurora and will be back!!

Excellent holiday with a variety of options to do

  • 5 of 5

The villa is excellent, there can be nothing better. The house is beautiful, comfortable and equipped with all you need. Also the surrounding area is very beautiful and natural. This is a sub-mediterranean zone with very interesting and rich vegetation, more green than that of Croatia. There is a beautiful path along the top of the cliff. Also, Piran is a very charming city, a must for visit, and can easily be accessed by bus or car (garage). After visiting the beautiful but crowdy Piran/Portoroz you really feel the holiday when you came back to Villa Aurora and listen just to the birds singing.

I highly recommend Villa Aurora for all those who love nature and tranquillity, yet there are also some other things to do nearby. Our family (wife+me+2 children) were all absolutely satisfied with our holidays:)

Review of beaches:

1. Centre of Strunjan: nice municipal beach with toilets, ice-cream/restaurant, playground for children, the swimming area is organized in form of a swimming pool. A good option for children.

2. 100-200 m away to the right of beach 1. Natural coast under the cliff, stones (shoes recommended), nice swimming in a plain sea. The stony beach is clean. Good option for adults.

3. 200-400 m away to the right of beach 1. Same as (2) but textile-free;)

4. 600 m away of beach 1, also accesible from the top of the cliff. This is a beautiful bay to watch from the top, yet the beach and the water it is not completely clean for swimming. This is a good option for the sunset (at the cross close to the church).

5. You may also choose to swim in Piran/Portoroz/Fiesa. Piran has the most widely open, beautiful blue sea. The walking path from Fiesa to Piran is fantastic.

Strunjan is one of the nicest seaside villages on the Slovenian Adriatic. Within walking distance of the villa are a variety of restaurants (some specialising in seafood), bars, shops, sports facilities (tennis, volleyball) & a large health / wellness centre with a wide variety of treatments available. Strunjan Bay is 10 minutes walk offering a lovely view across to beautiful St George's cathedral in Piran and excellent swimming from a man made beach and on a natural beach in the next bay at the foot of the lovely Strunjan cliffs (20 minutes walk from the villa). The village is just a few km from Piran, a beautiful, historic Venetian town on a peninsula jutting into the Adriatic & Izola, a small, bustling fishing village / resort town. Piran and Izola, which both offer plentiful opportunities for sightseeing, shopping, eating out and beaches. The larger resort of Portoroz is a few km further. Daytrips to world-class caves, the Lippizaner stud, Ljubljana & Venice are easily possible.

Other Activities: Wellness centre 5 min walk, volleyball, golf and horse riding 25 min drive

Golf: Golf Course at Lipica is located in the typical Karst countryside, shadowed by centuries- old limes and oaks and blessed with a mild Mediterranean climate. The Karst landforms make of it a most spectacular and beautiful course. One particular feature of Lipica course is that it's the only one in Slovenia providing golf throughout the whole year. Laid out in 1989 by Donald Haradine, one of the world's most famous course designers. It is a nine- holes golf course with practice area and two practice greens. The course's total length is 3163m, par 37, SR 71,9; CR 116. In the immediate vicinity of the course there is the information and cashier office, cloakroom, golf equipment shop, tennis courts, mini golf.
