Photos and Description of this 3 bedroom holiday cabin in De Soto - The Space Between Cabin

1100 square foot, 3 BR Amish log cabin on 2 acres hidden away in a quiet valley

Whether you enjoy the solitude of the quiet valley, relish listening to babbling brook that you drove through on your way into the property, or are relaxing in the outdoor hot tub, this private cabin is the best getaway in the Driftless Area.

About Brent Foss

My wife and I bought our cabin for a peaceful retreat from our busy lives. We really love the setting and the space. This is our personal cabin - not a timeshare or commercial venture. It's well-appointed with our books, movies, music, art, and personal touches. We think it's a special place in a very special region of Wisconsin. We can't wait to share it with you.

Why Brent Foss chose Southern Wisconsin

The Driftless Area of southwestern Wisconsin is simply amazing! The rolling hills and secret valleys hide small streams, abundant wildlife, and local folklore. Come visit and learn why we think this area is one of the most beautiful in the Midwest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a perfect place to spend a girls bachelorette weekend. We came in from Chicago, Ames, Paulina and Decorah Iowa. Despite plans to go out, we couldn’t resist staying in and making good food, drinking Moscow Mules on the porch, lounging in the hot tub, laughing and telling stories. What a relaxing getaway! Our random Saturday adventure led us to a market along the road and a recommendation to hike the Mississippi River Conservancy where we had a lovely picnic overlooking the River Gorge. Wine tasting at Sugar Creek winery and a swim in a “no swimming” zone before coming back for the evening. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us.

Exactly what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

We had such a nice relaxing long weekend away at this cabin. It was the perfect getaway for my husband and I and our dog. The cabin is very well-maintained and was exactly what we were expecting. We would highly recommend this cabin for a quiet relaxing weekend away. The hot tub was amazing for those chilly nights and the wood burning stove was so nice to enjoy a good book and a glass of wine in front of. We hope to come visit it again soon! Thanks Brent!

Rustic relaxation with modern amenities

  • 5 of 5

This property is the perfect combination of getting away from it all and staying just connected enough: Drive across the lazy, trickling stream to soak in the clean, relaxing hot tub; read a book on the front porch or stream a movie on Netflix: roast marshmallows over the fire pit after cooking a nice meal in the kitchen; take photos on the 250 acres of hiking and upload them to Google Drive; sit in absolute silence or rock the sub of the modern sound system.

This place is well worth the 6.5 hour drive we made to get here. We were not disappointed, in the least, with our experience. The owners, Charity and Brent communicated perfectly and the cabin was amazing.

Thank you for letting us stay.

Cheers!

Wonderful secluded cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience at the cabin. It was just as expected from the description. We had nice instructions and helpful information from Brent. We had 3 quiet days at the cabin and enjoyed the experience. Was impressed with how clean the hot tub was. Will go back again!

Not impressed-won't stay again

  • 2 of 5

The place was dirty, the bathroom was molding and there was mouse droppings everywhere. We only stayed there because we didn't have anywhere else to go. We were under the impression that the owner didn't live anywhere near the property so we didn't contact him to fix the issue. We knew we needed to clean the property when we left. I left it in the condition that we found it in and we were told the property looked great. Not a great experience for the price we paid.

Owner's Response: We cleaned the cabin a few days before guests arrived. Unfortunately mice make their way inside as the weather gets rainy and colder. We would have happily rectified any problems had we been contacted. Future guests, please keep our contact emails and phone numbers (voice or text) handy.

As described

fun little creek that our dogs occupied themselves by chasing fingerling trout and digging in the sandy banks. My wife and I loved the peaceful setting and the ability to just get away for a few days after our wedding.

The recent flood brought cleanup noises well outside the owner's control. We just got unlucky that the neighbors ran equipment both days and there were a lot of gravel trucks driving by repairing the local roads. We got our best sense of seclusion at night, it was still a much needed break from reality.

Owner's Response: We were so happy that Chris and his wife were able to make it. They were great guests and left the cabin in pristine condition. We would love to have them stay again some time.
