1100 square foot, 3 BR Amish log cabin on 2 acres hidden away in a quiet valley

Whether you enjoy the solitude of the quiet valley, relish listening to babbling brook that you drove through on your way into the property, or are relaxing in the outdoor hot tub, this private cabin is the best getaway in the Driftless Area.

Guests can simply enjoy the quiet valley, bird-watching, and relaxing. Or they can venture over to the Mississippi River to watch eagles soar, enjoy world-class boating and fishing. After a busy day of exploring and enjoying the area, guests can relax around the outdoor fire pit, soothe away the day in the outdoor hot tub, or simply enjoy the sights and sounds with a cold beverage from the front porch.

About Brent Foss

My wife and I bought our cabin for a peaceful retreat from our busy lives. We really love the setting and the space. This is our personal cabin - not a timeshare or commercial venture. It's well-appointed with our books, movies, music, art, and personal touches. We think it's a special place in a very special region of Wisconsin. We can't wait to share it with you.

Why Brent Foss chose Wisconsin

The Driftless Area of southwestern Wisconsin is simply amazing! The rolling hills and secret valleys hide small streams, abundant wildlife, and local folklore. Come visit and learn why we think this area is one of the most beautiful in the Midwest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a perfect place to spend a girls bachelorette weekend. We came in from Chicago, Ames, Paulina and Decorah Iowa. Despite plans to go out, we couldn’t resist staying in and making good food, drinking Moscow Mules on the porch, lounging in the hot tub, laughing and telling stories. What a relaxing getaway! Our random Saturday adventure led us to a market along the road and a recommendation to hike the Mississippi River Conservancy where we had a lovely picnic overlooking the River Gorge. Wine tasting at Sugar Creek winery and a swim in a “no swimming” zone before coming back for the evening. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us.

fun little creek that our dogs occupied themselves by chasing fingerling trout and digging in the sandy banks. My wife and I loved the peaceful setting and the ability to just get away for a few days after our wedding.

The recent flood brought cleanup noises well outside the owner's control. We just got unlucky that the neighbors ran equipment both days and there were a lot of gravel trucks driving by repairing the local roads. We got our best sense of seclusion at night, it was still a much needed break from reality.

Relaxing weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Surprised my husband for our 10 year anniversary. We had such a relaxing time on the porch, in the hot tub, by the fire and even did some fishing in Lansing and DeSoto! Brent was easy to work with and answered any questions I had almost immediately. Thanks for sharing your cozy cabin with us! We hope to go back and bring our kids!

Exactly as described, wonderful, peaceful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We had a very small checklist for what we wanted in a get away:

Private, quiet, comfortable, and beautiful surroundings! All fulfilled at this lovely place. My wife wanted to see her 1st lightning bug and experience a thunderstorm. In San Diego both these things are impossible to experience in the Summer! We got our wish, watching an approaching lighting storm from the hot tub, and then experiencing a deluge of rain, and then a few lightning bugs when the storm subsided...wonderful! Short drive to Viroqua and LaCrosse made for nice day trips. If you have more time, don't miss House on the Rock and Cave of the Mounds which are about 2 hours east.

Thanks, Brent, you have a very special place!!!

Weekend Away

  • 4 of 5

Took our daughters and their families to the cabin for a family outing, there were five adults and four children and two dogs, the cabin was roomy enough for all of us and the front porch was amazing to be out on and the grandkids lived in the hot tub, new deck just added and was great not to walk through the grass to get to it, we did have small children with us and the railings were not in place yet so did a lot of watching them at all times. Small creek was fun but you must be adventurous, this time of year there was a lot of large weeds, lawn is small and we couldn't play much of the games we brought but did play bean bags on the gravel driveway. Would certainly recommend the cabin, it was hard to go home.

As relaxing as can be

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a quiet place to relax for several days and Brent and Charity Foss' cabin was perfect. Surrounded by trees, away from the city, nothing but the sound of birds and the wind in the trees. While you could hear the occasional car drive by, you couldn't see them for the screen of trees. We brought our own food, so we never left the cabin, just sat on the porch listening to the birds or enjoyed the hot tub. We grilled on the outdoor grill without problem, watched a DVD and streamed a movie from our own device. Wi-Fi was fast. Tap (well) water was pleasantly drinkable. We met Charity on arrival and departure and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her. Treat the place like your own (or better) and the Fosses will treat you like family!

Perfect getaway in the woods

  • 5 of 5

Visited with a group of 8 people and we all had a very comftorable stay. Charity was super cool and we all enjoyed talking with her on the last day of our stay. The cabin was well kept as well as the hot tub. It's a perfect place to spend quality time with a group of friends. We're all going to try to come back next year! Overall it was a great experience.
