About Brent Foss

My wife and I bought our cabin for a peaceful retreat from our busy lives. We really love the setting and the space. This is our personal cabin - not a timeshare or commercial venture. It's well-appointed with our books, movies, music, art, and personal touches. We think it's a special place in a very special region of Wisconsin. We can't wait to share it with you.

Why Brent Foss chose Southern Wisconsin

The Driftless Area of southwestern Wisconsin is simply amazing! The rolling hills and secret valleys hide small streams, abundant wildlife, and local folklore. Come visit and learn why we think this area is one of the most beautiful in the Midwest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a perfect place to spend a girls bachelorette weekend. We came in from Chicago, Ames, Paulina and Decorah Iowa. Despite plans to go out, we couldn’t resist staying in and making good food, drinking Moscow Mules on the porch, lounging in the hot tub, laughing and telling stories. What a relaxing getaway! Our random Saturday adventure led us to a market along the road and a recommendation to hike the Mississippi River Conservancy where we had a lovely picnic overlooking the River Gorge. Wine tasting at Sugar Creek winery and a swim in a “no swimming” zone before coming back for the evening. Thanks for sharing your beautiful place with us.

Beautiful place for a secluded getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to get away from the big city for a relaxing weekend and this was the perfect place! The property was beautiful and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, building fires in the wood stove, and hiking with our dog. I highly recommend this cabin for anyone who is looking for a peaceful retreat!

Cabin Christmas 2017

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent Christmas at The Space Between Cabin, outside of DeSoto. We were looking for a "get-a-way", that wasn't a motel or resort experience, and we found exactly what we were looking for! A fresh 5" coat of snow added to the charm of the cabin and woods, though we were thankful we all had 4 wheel drive. The rustic, country decor was perfect, and it was great to not have TV reception. Only a dvd player to watch a couple of Christmas movies. Sleeping arrangements were very adequate for the six of us, with plenty of blankets and pillows provided. The sitting area was a little tight, but it just provided for great family time, visiting and playing games. Brent and Charity hung some lights for us, as well as put up a Christmas tree, which help set the mood. The hot tub was the perfect kick-off to break after a semester of teaching! We would love to come back and stay, when the weather is a little more forgiving to outside adventures, though we won't be able to make snowmen on the deck!

Owner's Response: Terry and family were wonderful guests. They asked all the right questions ahead of time and were very conscientious about taking care of the property. The snowman on the deck was very cool and a hit with the kids. We would love to host them again some time.

Was a very nice cabin with plenty of room to hangout. The stove/fireplace was our favorite part!

Hot tub was clean and well taken care of just like the rest of the property. Plenty of wood already set out for us beside the house. Overall was a great trip and will definitely be coming back.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind comments. This is the kind of experience we try to create. We take special care to make sure the hot tub is up and running and clean. And we try to make sure the amenities are all set so guests don't have to run back to town for anything.

Exactly what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

We had such a nice relaxing long weekend away at this cabin. It was the perfect getaway for my husband and I and our dog. The cabin is very well-maintained and was exactly what we were expecting. We would highly recommend this cabin for a quiet relaxing weekend away. The hot tub was amazing for those chilly nights and the wood burning stove was so nice to enjoy a good book and a glass of wine in front of. We hope to come visit it again soon! Thanks Brent!

Rustic relaxation with modern amenities

  • 5 of 5

This property is the perfect combination of getting away from it all and staying just connected enough: Drive across the lazy, trickling stream to soak in the clean, relaxing hot tub; read a book on the front porch or stream a movie on Netflix: roast marshmallows over the fire pit after cooking a nice meal in the kitchen; take photos on the 250 acres of hiking and upload them to Google Drive; sit in absolute silence or rock the sub of the modern sound system.

This place is well worth the 6.5 hour drive we made to get here. We were not disappointed, in the least, with our experience. The owners, Charity and Brent communicated perfectly and the cabin was amazing.

Thank you for letting us stay.
