I am a Native Washingtonian, who grew up just minutes from the home. I completed my studies in New York and returned to Washington to witness its rapidly changing culture.
Derric Turner purchased this townhome in 2013

Really enjoyed the experience and the owner was very accommodating to all of our needs. We had a large group so that meant a lot.
Our family of 5 stayed here for a week in April 2017. Very close to the bus line, which we took everywhere. Derric replied quickly to all our questions. It rained several days we were there but Derric had included 2 umbrellas, which we used. We bought a few groceries from the Safeway, which is within walking distance as long as you don't have a lot of bags (DC charges you for grocery bags, so you might want to bring a reusable bag or two). It was nice to have breakfast together before we started our day. The table was large enough for all of us to sit around comfortably. We even played card games one night. Having 2 1/2 baths was great!
The location has coded entry. Loved it. We all knew the code so could split up if we needed to and no worrying about losing a key! The wifi worded great!
With all of the rain the satellite/dish TV service didn't work very well. Not Derric's fault.
Suggestions for Derric: Hand towels in the bathrooms and bar soap for the showers. Also, a dish cloth to wash dishes and more than 1 kitchen towel. There were no K-cups for the Keurig but there was some coffee for the large pot. Other than these small things, you have a great vacation home. Thank you for your hospitality.
The brownstone was exactly as expected with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. Plus a pull out sofa/futon that we did not need. We didn't cook at all but it seemed there were decent plates, glasses, cookware for a group.
The distance to the Metro is a little further than stated in the summary but an easy 10 min walk. Red Derby is a great local bar around the corner and I had El Salvadoran cuisine for lunch across the street. All in all, a good location. Also, the house was spotless so whoever is the cleaning crew is doing an amazing job! Thanks Derric for your quick response to all of our questions.
We had a wonderful time in DC. Unfortunately its snowed for 2 days while we were there. I had called at 9am to see if the stairs would be salted. Derric said he would be there shortly. He never came. We had to shovel and salt the stairs before we left. When we arrived the blow up bed had a hole in it and never had a return call on that. So my 11 year nephew had to sleep on the floor. All the bedding is old and the comforters had not been washed. The towels are white, stained and thin. We also had a leak from the roof in the kitchen area. I believe it was from all snow melting. All the furniture and mattress need to be replaced. This property is location is good for the metro and bus. It is 10 block walk to metro and no fun to walk in the cold. We stayed for 9 days with 8 people and it was comfortable. I just feel for the price there are some updates needed.
We are a school group that frequently brings students to Washington, DC. We have stayed in several locations around the city, but this is the first location to which we have returned. It is a great location, with an easy walk to Metro and Bus. Quick access to grocery stores, good restaurants. Owner was very helpful and very accommodating. Will definitely use again.
