About Millie Blevins

I am a native Floridian, that lived most of my adult life in Tampa Florida. My husband's parents had a beach house in Casey Key and he introduced me to this secluded piece of paradise. We were fortunate to permanently move to Casey Key several years ago and subsequently purchased this duplex last year. What we loved most about this property is its tropical backyard right on the Intracoastal and the private beach right across the street. It is truly a beautiful place that I am sure, you too, will fall in love with!!

What makes this cottage unique

The duplex is located right next door to our home. We live in Casey Key all year round so we will be able to give you on-site service.

The boat dock (with electricity and water provided) is directly behind the property with room for your boat trailer in the front.

A 12 x 12 furnished gazebo in the backyard overlooking the intracoastal.

Best of both worlds... private beach access and you are on the intercostal waterways.

Outstanding Property!

  • 5 of 5

Outstanding property for a vacation on beautiful Casey Key! The appreciated how the owners were very quick to respond when we were planning our stay. They answered all of our questions and provided helpful information regarding the area. We were able to bring our bikes and kayaks and the property has ample room for storage and security. When we arrived, the property was very clean, comfortable and inviting. A full size washer and dryer was very helpful and convenient for wet towels and bathing suits. The property and the beach were quiet and sparse and most days we had the entire stretch north all to ourselves for long walks and shelling! Check out the pictures of the back of the property where we saw amazing sunrises and watched all the activity the intercoastal offered. We had a great vacation and would stay again at this property!

Great property, great location, helpful owners, and a relaxing week at the beach.

  • 5 of 5

Property sits on the intercoastal waterway, with access to a private beach on the gulf, just across the street. Owners provide chairs, umbrella and beach towels. The listing accurately portrays the property and amenities. Owners live next door, very friendly, and provided good information on area attractions and restaurants (Crows Nest was our favorite). The town of Venice is a 10 minute drive, with shops and plenty of restaurants, including several good Italian restaurants. Would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives, and would like to return next year.

Perfect vacation

Perfect place for an amazing, very low-key getaway. Very clean, comfortable and the owner made sure our stay comfortable. A few steps away from a beautiful, private beach to sit, relax and enjoy the waves. We're already planning to return next year!

Vacation Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were impressed by both the cleanliness and location of this rental. The beach is only a few steps away and the island is quiet and serene. Additionally, the attentiveness of the owner to ensuring our stay was what we expected was fabulous. Overall, we highly recommend this rental.

Casey Key Beach

An hour’s drive from Tampa, Casey Key stretches eight miles between Siesta Key and the Island of Venice and also runs parallel to the communities of South Sarasota, Osprey and Nokomis. This… lush secluded island on Florida’s west coast is predominantly residential; each with its own sandy shore… although…there are two public beaches, Nokomis and North Jetty Beach, at the south end.

A single road wends its way down the spine of the island where at some points the width averages less than a quarter mile. Often the road is barely more than one lane wide, where a leafy branch or hibiscus brushes a passing car… and, believe it or not… there are no traffic lights!

Two bridges cross at the north and south ends. The one to the north is a 1923 single lane Swing Bridge that’s well worth the crossing at Blackburn Point Road. This is an opportunity to photograph and cross a piece of history on Route 789 in South Sarasota County. The entire bridge rotates around an axis on a central support and requires no land side structures or counter weights. Boats with masts taller than eight feet signal the bridge tender who stops land traffic to rotate the bridge. “IF”… electricity fails the rotating mechanism… a giant “hand crank” comes to the rescue! A drop-in area is available nearby for kayaks and canoes on the east side with two waterfront restaurants frequented by locals called Aqua and Casey Key Fish House.

From the bridge it’s possible to head north on Casey Key Road and catch a glimpse of massive homes nestled in wooded natural beauty with a sandy strip of shoreline that’s all their own. The road eventually turns private where it’s quite difficult to turn around.

From Blackburn Point southward, there’s another four miles of monolithic dwellings featuring private cabanas and beaches on the Gulf and mega boats with docks on the Intra-coastal waterway.

With only 600 residents, this is the place where the rich and famous relax. Gulf-to-Bay property could be purchased for $20,000 in the 1950’s; today real estate on Casey Key averages in the millions, and up to $25 million for a small estate.
