About the property

Waterfront Villa Studio on 1.5 acres, A/C, gated parking, large deck, new kitchn

Offered by Villa de la Vista - Ocean front Villa at Tabor & Harmony Estate - One bedroom air conditioned studio, 260 sqft living area, large closet. New kitchen. Sleigh bed. Bathroom with tiled shower. Currently furnished with one queen bed. Mexican terrazzo tile inside and out. Gated off-street parking. Half mile walk up Harmony Drive to Safari Taxi and VI Tran bus access. Quiet neighborhood. Constant breezes. Private entrance. Grill steaks on large (670 sqft) private tiled deck (half-covered, half-sunny). Studio has nine to ten foot ceilings with fan. Fall asleep to the constant symphony of ocean waves and wake up to the view through sliding glass doors out across the Atlantic to the horizon - framed by Great and Little Hans Lolik, Great and Little Tobago, not to mention Thatch Cay, Yost Van Dyke, Tortola and St. John to the east. Villa is roughly 200' above sea level. Washer/dryer for guest use, dedicated 25mbps Internet, in-unit Wi-Fi via cable TV. Villa de la Vista rests on a 3 dimensional, 1.5-acre pie-shaped lot. The sea has taken a few bites off the tip of the pie. For the adventurous, access our private ocean tidal pool via path down rocky slope to a 60’ cliff. Zig-zag the “walking” path down the cliff, some large rocks to be scaled near the bottom. In calm seas, kayak ¼ mile east into the channel between St. Thomas and Thatch Kay (used by migrating hump-back whales). If you lose your paddle, pick-up in Puerto Rico is extra! Round the new "castle" at the end of Sunsi point to snorkel the limited access (by water only), but pristine Sunsi bay and enjoy the secluded white sand of Sunsi beach! Area below high tide is publically owned and accessible. Never a crowd. Steep slope hills above waterline surrounding Sunsi bay are uninhabited …. but privately trolled by a single owner. Climb/swim/snorkel/kayak/scuba-dive/cliff-dive/fish/boat at your own risk. Signed waivers required for ocean access from villa and use of villa kayaks. Non-smokers only. Comfortably sleeps two (max of 4 in a single family unit allowed). On site management. 5 minute drive to Tutu Park Mall. 6 minute drive to Magens Bay. 7 minute drive to ferries at Red Hook. 4 minutes to Mahogany Run golf course. 5 minutes to Jimmy Buffet's new Margaritaville Resort adjacent to Coral World.

For larger parties, combine your reservation for this studio with our two bedroom unit (VRBO property # 912068 ) on the east end of the same Villa. See the ad here:

https://www.vrbo.com/912068.

The two units share a laundry area and are connected by partially covered deck space, steps.

Great location, secluded yet not very far from beaches, restaurants and bars

  • 4 of 5

It was a studio with a large private deck. The view of the ocean and Thatch Caye from the deck was amazing. You can hear the waves crashing at night. We did not get to kayak because the water was a little rough during our stay. He did walk us down to the water which is down a steep small path and offered to help us launch the kayaks from the rocks if we wanted.

Most of the stay was private, although a couple of times the child from upstairs wandered down to our deck.

The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare breakfast and dinners from the groceries we purchased at a store on our way from the airport.

We had a rental car and drive from the airport, about a 30 minute drive depending on traffic. I also liked the location because the northeast part of the island is a bit cooler than the rest of the island.

Owner's Response: Kristy, Thanks for the feedback. Sorry about the rough sea during your stay. We'll review the "wandering" rules with our 6-year old. Also wanted to thank you for your tolerance of the construction workers, as they prepared for cutting the new road down to the cliff. best, paul

We stayed in the studio and it is as advertised. Not spacious, but comfy. Deck and view are great!

Paul and Tatiana are great hosts! There when you need them - but not intrusive.

We did take the kayaks out to the private beach. This is NOT for the faint of heart or unfit. It is a strenuous clime down and back. Once in the water, it was perfect and beach was relaxing.

Owner's Response: Brian, Thanks for the review and in particular for your persistence in getting down the cliff and into the kayaks! Not something we had tried before so we are glad it works reasonably well. Hope to see you in the future. best, paul

just as advertised, great view cooled by ocean winds

Paul and Tatiana were gracious hosts who even invited us to share a holiday meal with their family and friends. Convenient location near Tutu and Red Hook, as well as our favorite beaches at Coki's and Lindquist. The road into the property is steep and narrow, and a jeep was helpful to navigate the terrain. But the little used roads in East and West Harmony provided for a nice safe hike of almost three miles with great views. Comfortable bed, functional kitchen, very large deck for lounging after the day's activities.

Our time in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We've rented VBROs before and Paul and Tetyana are by far the most hospitable and helpful owners that we have ever worked with. The birthday balloons, chocolates and champagne, when we arrived, were very much appreciated, especially after the harrowing journey to get there. We would suggest arriving in the daytime, is possible, and have better detailed instructions which include route numbers on how to get there because road signage in St. Thomas is very poor.

We very much appreciated the beach chairs, beach umbrella, snorkel equipment, and coolers that they provided for us to use. They even loaned us a big cooler to use at the grocery store. Any questions that we had were answered right away and we found Paul and Tetyana very, very helpful. They were also very respectful of our privacy.

The studio is the perfect romantic getaway. It is exactly as they described. Since we travel a lot and have to eat out a lot, we really appreciated having a nice kitchen and grill. We fixed dinner every night and loved having an outdoor table to use while enjoying the incredible view.

We were disappointed that we could not get to the pictured secluded beach, but didn't want to risk the anger of the person who built private property around it preventing people from getting there. But, there are beautiful beaches all over the island that you can get to within minutes. Utilizing the kayaks involves lowering them off a cliff with a rope, which we passed on. The ferry to St. John's and grocery stores are also within minutes of this property.

Thanks for a great birthday trip!

Owner's Response: Marilyn, Thanks much for the review. Glad you had a happy bday celebration! Sorry about the cliff and the fenced off beach. We have received approval from the DPNR here on island for a road cut down our property to the cliff and plan to improve access down the cliff to the water, perhaps with kayak storage closer to the water. In a couple months I believe guests will find it much easier to get to that beach! Hope to see you guys again. cheers, paul

A Slice of Paradise!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely studio with plenty of privacy! The view was fabulous, I think we spent hours just gazing at the ocean. And at night, we felt like we could touch the stars!

The location is within ten minutes of several beaches and the ferry to St John.

The studio was EXACTLY as advertised. It had a full kitchen and outdoor gas grill. We were able to cook full meals every night, and eat dinner while watching the ocean.

Thank you for a wonderful vacation!
