About Karen Lodinger

I am a retired engineer. I really enjoy the great outdoor activities this area offers such as hiking, meditative walks, and bicycling at all levels. I travel frequently but always like this spot the best. While this was built as a ranch, I looked into the animals's eyes and knew I would be happier growing hay. You may enjoy the neighbor's cows, sheep and steers as I do! You can buy fresh farm raised vegetables and grass fed beef here. This is a healthy retreat for the body and spirit!

Karen Lodinger purchased this house in 2012

Why Karen Lodinger chose Utah

This small ranch sits within the Zion canyon. There is one phrase that describes how I feel about Zion..."You had me at Hello." This is a place of incredible beauty and tranquility.

What makes this house unique

Take a walk down a country lane, enjoy the fresh air, the wildflowers and the magnificent scenery sculpted by wind and water as hundreds of millions of years of geology is within view. Watch the colors change as the sun lights up the mountains. See the night sky as it was meant to be of stars and realize why the Milky Way has its name. Yes, on a dark night it really does look as if an artist has painted a milky white streak across the sky. You may feel as I do...This is the gift I give myself and a wonderful gift to share with others.

Comfortable house in a fantastic location! Wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

I completely enjoyed every aspect of my time in the Zion Canyon. This house was charming, clean and just like the photos. The owner takes excellent care of this house and was very helpful. It was a scenic five mile drive to the Zion National Park entrance in Springdale. This area is beautiful! The hiking and biking are fantastic. I enjoyed the closeness of Springdale for its restaurants and galleries. However, I liked the spaciousness of this location. The second story balcony was my favorite spot for dining and star gazing. This is an excellent getaway for a couple, a family or two couples traveling together. The owner was prompt with a full refund of my deposit.

Southern Utah is color country! This area has diverse geology such as lava flows from previous volcanic activity, ancient fossils from when this was part of the inland sea and an amazing display of rocks dating back hundreds of millions of years! Amazing destinations such as Bryce Canyon, The North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell , Antelope Canyon and Cedar Breaks are a short distance away. The Shakespeare Festival in Cedar City offers excellent theater throughout the summer and into the Fall. This is an excellent location to spend a month and venture out for short side trips.
