Life of Riley is a beautiful cheery place to stay. Clean, well maintained, comfortable, nice location. Plenty of room for our family of 4 adults and 2 children and especially nice for our sheltie. Fenced walkway and fenced area right outside made it special for her and easier on us to keep and eye on her and the children. Time at the cottage, making meals in the kitchen (a few baking sheets would be nice), sitting on the porch very comfortable (a small café table/chairs would be nice on the back deck), standing by the creek, sitting by the fire pit (a few extra chairs would be nice), relaxing in the hot tub, all very enjoyable as well as so many things to do in the area. Hiked both the state parks and along the rail trail and enjoyed amazing views of the PA Grand Canyon. Visited Kinzua Bridge, Kinzua Dam, checked out the stars at Cherry Springs, and strolled along the streets of Wellsboro. PA has so much to enjoy. Route 6 is a little noisy (especially with the windows open and not being used to road noise) but easy to forget about it when falling asleep after a busy day. Great outside lighting made us feel safe and secure when coming back to cottage late at night and during the night to be able to see all around outside. Highly recommend Life of Riley for a very comfortable place to stay. We certainly will return again someday.
The rental cottage/cabin was all that was advertised. There is so much to see and do in this area of Pennsylvania. We were able to see the Gaines Eagle everyday from the comfort of the front porch. The biking and hiking trails and state parks were so close. We visited Leonard Harrison and Colton State Parks. The views from Leonard Harris are amazing. Colton State Park we were able to hike the Turkey Path trail. Unfortunately our visit was during the worst drought that Pine Creek has seen in 30 years. I can't imagine how beautiful it would be when there was not a drought, because even with the lack of water this area is absolutely beautiful. There are wonderful opportunities to see much wildlife in an around this area. Watkins Glen was a 1 hour trip from the cabin and was also and awesome place to visit. Seneca Lake is a treasure to see. I would recommend this area and cabin to friends for sure. As with many rentals, it has been my experience to make sure to take a couple of your favorite cooking tools example electric skillet/griddle, if you plan to do most of your cooking there. The kitchen was pretty well equipped. The cottage is very cozy and the hot tub was great for relaxing after a long hike. We traveled with another couple and were able to let each couple have their own area, simply by one couple downstairs the other upstairs. The twin/trundle bed on the 1st floor made this possible, so don't shy away thinking that there is not enough privacy. It can be worked out. All in all this cottage/cabins had a lot of bang for the buck. We'll try to return one day. The only disadvantage was that Route 6 is very close and can be noisy during the day, but in the evening it is not. One more thing, this place is great for Fido. A great fenced in area off the back porch that is great, you still have to be watchful of your beloved Fido, but it's great.
House was comfortable. Kitchen nice and roomy for socializing. Hot tub is a nice treat after a day of hiking and biking. House sits close to Rt. 6 so traffic is left to be desired. But mostly quiet in afternoon and night. Beautiful creek right in front of house. .beautiful. Met the neighbors, they were very welcoming and gave us our peace. Location of the house was perfect for us. Our interests were between Wellsboro and Galeton. Met Kathy Riley... she has great interest in her area and I enjoyed her knowledge of the land. We watched deer drink and had fun finding aquatic animals in the creek. We were fortunate to see a Hellbender, the largest salamander in PA. 20 inches.! We would return!
We arrived end of August and felt home right away. Very cozy home, most importantly very clean. Our 5 years old daughter did not want to leave. We were fishing every morning and fire in the night outside in the yeard, night was little chilly and wood fire felt and smelled so good. Very close to Cherry spring national park where we saw beautiful sky full of stars along milky way and PA grand canyon amazing view. We would definitely want to see winter in there. Must be as beautiful as summer!
Everything was exactly as describe. It was the perfect getaway for us and our wonderful dog Jackson who absolutely enjoyed the yard. Campfires in the evening and hiking during the day with a great kitchen to prepare our meals. We enjoyed the hot tub each day which really helped keep sore muscles at bay. The road noise was disruptive at times but not too bad, certainly nothing like the busy thorough fare adjacent to our home in the city. We will definitely be visiting again!
We enjoyed our stay at Life Of Riley. The kids loved the creek, especially since it was low this time of year and they could walk out into it easily. We found the cabin clean and well maintained. We used the charcoal grill all 3 nights to cook, so we didn't try either of the restaurants across the street. The weather was warm so we didn't use the hot tub at all.
The cabin is in an easily accessible location, so if you aren't looking to be too far out into the woods but still have the creek and nature nearby, this is a great place to try. We would consider returning to Life Of Riley on future trips to the PA Grand Canyon area!
There are many other activities, such as Biking on the Rails to Trails, along Pine Creek, Covered Wagon Rides, or hiking down the BEAUTIFUL Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.
