Perfect for our group of 10
The property was amazing, and the property manager’s responses were almost instantaneous! We were on a whirlwind road trip through DC, NY, and Niagara Falls and this place was perfect for resting from our drive and from exploring NY each day. One thing to note, there is only 2-hour parking allowed on almost all the streets in Jersey City unless you are a resident (there are multiple clearly marked signs on the street), so we had to park in a garage just up the street for around $18/day. The property manager was quick to provide us directions to the garage, which ended up being right across the street from the Journal Square PATH terminal.
When we pulled up the first day, several neighbors took the time to say hello, let us know about parking, and how to get everywhere. Even the parking attendant at the garage went out of his way to be nice and help us find where we needed to go. Every day we enjoyed the short (10-15 minute) walk to/from Journal Square. You will have to walk up hill about half of the way in the morning, but it's not a steep hill, and it’s nice to walk downhill at the end of the day when you're tired. Our large group (4 adults, 6 kids) came home around midnight a few times and we always felt safe.
The property itself was perfect for us. The layout (2 bedrooms downstairs and 4 upstairs) allowed the adults to have a little space from the kids. The three bathrooms (1 downstairs and 2 upstairs) made daily showers for all the kids quick and easy. It must have a tankless water heater because all 10 of us would take showers almost every day and we never ran out of hot water.
Toward the end of our stay we had some extremely noisy neighbors arrive upstairs in the third-floor property and what sounded like chairs being thrown across the floor around 1-2am but after talking to them they quietened down and we didn't need to involve the property manager.
Pros: Friendly neighborhood, new build, Ikea like modern décor, excellent air conditioner, great washer and dryer, plenty of towels, well equipped kitchen and bathrooms, comfortable beds, tons of storage space, nice clean bedding, fast internet with a good signal throughout the house (google wifi), smart tv in the living room, short walk to PATH station
Cons: No free parking can get expensive for multiple cars
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone.
Pristine, comfortable, spacious, great for large group
Pristine, spacious, comfortable, well-equipped home. Easily accommodated our family of 11 (3 couples, 5 kids) for 7 nights. Lovely new modern decor. Comfortable beds, table and chairs, sofa; plenty of closet and storage space. Nice bedding. Powerful air conditioning. Great value. Short drive/taxi to cute Grove Street district. Drawbacks: limited shopping and dining within walking distance (Rite-aid, bodega, deli, donut shop, liquor store). The 15 minute walk to the PATH station is mostly flat and passes through a fairly grimy but safe-looking area. We taxied sometimes when we weren’t up for walking.
The owners were very responsive before and during our stay. Very nice.
I will definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to house a large group if they’re willing to spend a bit more time traveling and don’t mind a no-frills neighborhood.
Journal Square rental
Property was great for the 9 of us. Just wish that the living room had more seating and was more comfortable. The walk to the path was not bad but after walking all day in New York my feet were aching.
Great location to stay while seeing NY city
It was a great location to take the PATH train to see NY city. Beware parking is an issue!!!!! I received a parking ticket for not having a permit to park. I ended up parking in a parking garage by journal square. I also received two tickets for street sweeping. I asked about parking two SUVs and was told there was plenty of parking on the street. That was a lie! Don't expect to park overnight on the street. The street sweeping is on Tuesday and Friday from 10 to 1. I complained about the parking and was told that's why we encourage people to read the signs. I replied I asked about the parking and you said plenty of parking on the street which was a lie.
Hi Gerald, first of all, thanks so very much for staying with us! I’m terribly sorry to hear about your displeasure with the parking situation at the home. When you asked about the parking of two SUVs we did suggest you park at the parking garage to avoid any issues, but we certainly did encourage you to read the parking signs. We’ve have many guests who have parked in the street and haven’t had an issue. Nonetheless it was an absolute pleasure hosting you.
Everything and more!
This house was very nice. From cleanliness to furnishing to friendliness from the staff, our stay was more than great! Everyone was happy and would definitely stay again! Highly recommended
The property was faultless, exactly what we needed with more than enough space for 10 of us. Travelling into new York was 30 mins, very large hill to climb to station but that wasn't a problem to us
