Trinity, located in Center City Philadelphia. fantastic neighborhood, walking distant to the Schuykill River Trail, a multi use trail voted the best urban trail system nationwide, some of the best restaurants & cafe's, Rittenhouse Square, great shopping & local attractions. Access to the Airport, Amtrak & Septa. Several of the cities new indego bike hubs are less than two blocks away so you can not only walk from this location to most attractions in the city if you choose so you can bike as well.
Stormy's adorable home in the Rittenhouse Square district of Philly is perfect for the single traveler or a couple who want easy access to the entire city. There is a very reasonably priced parking garage less than a block away from the house, and we stashed our vehicle and were able to walk to everything we wanted to see with ease, and if you are into historic homes Rittenhouse Square is *where it's at* because the entire neighborhood is super-beautiful.
Stormy is a wonderful lady and her house has everything you could possibly want in a comfy spot. We cannot possibly give this spot a higher rating. Do not hesitate!!
If you love the history of the Philadelphia area, you will love staying in this house.
I stayed eight nights in this lovely home during a warm spell in June. I could not have been happier with the location, which was within walking distance of lots of great restaurants, cafes, shops, theaters, and museums, near Rittenhouse Square and South Street. Public transportation is right at hand and extensive, but I didn't use it, because the location was so walkable, and it was so pleasant to walk through the old neighborhoods. The owner described the house as a "Trinity House," which is apparently a style common in Philadelphia: basically there are three generously sized rooms, a ground floor kitchen/dining room, a second floor living room, and a third floor bathroom/bedroom. Obviously guests will need to feel comfortable navigating the relatively steep (but short) stairways; I found it to be no problem. Because the house is located on a side street, it is quiet and calm. There is a sweet patio in the back, and the front windows are shuttered for privacy. Though it was warm outside, the ceiling fans on the second and third floors kept the house comfortably cool without the need for an air-conditioner (though the owner said that she could put in window units --- I actually prefer fans). I did a lot of cooking in the well-equipped kitchen, shopping at nearby grocery stores and the famous Reading Terminal Market, which is about 15 minutes' walk away. The ability to cook and make coffee (there is a thermos provided to keep it warm) kept my costs way down. There is no microwave, but there is a large toaster oven, and I didn't miss having a microwave.
If you walk up to Locust Street and over to the Schuylkill River, there is a fantastic river park with trails for bikes, runners, and walkers, and it is safe and active at night as well. It is a great way to walk up to the Philadelphia Art Museum and people-watch at the same time. Loved the house! Thanks for a great stay, Stormy!
We pity our fellow travelers who choose to stay in chain hotels in amazing cities like Philadelphia! We got to truly experience such a fun and funky home as an authentic, architecturally significant Philly Trinity :-) The owner is incredibly gracious and accommodating, with fantastic communication from the directions on an easy way to arrive via mass transit to a litany of amazing recommendations for dining, drinking and activities. From the top down this outstanding home: the bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and very quiet for this great location; the living room was fantastically inviting and cozy, I don't care that the owner's personal photos are here and there, she was so open and inviting we felt like we were her longtime friends staying over in a place we were more than welcome to enjoy and the ground floor kitchen and dining area was beautiful and handled every need we had with style and comfort; lastly the private courtyard just an awesome little space to enjoy a bit of wine and beer before heading out on the town. This location, less than half a block off South Street was amazing for all of the dining options!
This is a lovely home in an absolutely fantastic neighborhood. The owner is very helpful, gracious, and generous--she left us everything we needed, including a lovely bottle of wine. The home is clean, beautifully decorated, and perfectly located. I would caution on only a couple of small details: the house is perfect for a couple, but the stairs are steep and narrow and somewhat difficult to navigate. There is no free nearby parking, so if you need to have a car, prepare to pay overnight prices at a garage (we paid around $27 a day). However, the location here is so great, we probably shouldn't have rented a car at all--there were tons of places within walking distance, and public transportation is easily accessible. Finally, I would second the comment about the owner's personal items: this is her home, not a vacation rental, so this is more like an airbnb than a vrbo. She, of course, vacates the property and leaves you everything you need, but you are among her personal items during your stay, so it feels a bit invasive (although that could easily just be me!). Once I realized that was the case, I got used to it, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Overall, though, her hospitality and excellent location made this a great rental for our Philly weekend.
The location was excellent and we enjoyed the wine the owner left. The house was very interesting and had a sense of style. We slept surprisingly well in the smaller bed. There was a lot of personal stuff covering bedside table and bathroom and we had to move things to have a place to put our stuff (bedside book, water, glasses, makeup, toothbrush, etc.). It would have been better if there was more clear space for visitors. The stairs were a bit scary for us older folks but we were very careful and survived. The location, especially for visiting our family and friends was fabulous! Also we only walked 2-3 blocks the entire time we were there to find excellent breakfast (Miles Table) and dinner (Entree's and Rex's). The location is the best part of this rental. The owner, while we didn't meet her, was helpful and available.
Great location. Within walking distance of most center city attractions. The home is located on a quiet residential side street. We actually felt like we were part of the neighborhood. Lots of great dining choices within a couple of blocks. Beautiful period row home with winding stairs and courtyard garden space.
