Wonderful vacation home!
We really enjoyed our weekend at this house! Three families all together with plenty of room. The jacuzzi was amazing and super hot! Was so nice to sit in it after a day of playing on the perfect snow hill. We rode sleds down the hill near the side of the house which was perfect not only for kids but teenagers and adults alike. We had a great time barbecuing and playing pool. The kitchen was well equipped. My only complaints would be the kitchen could knives could use some sharpening and we could not find a bbq brush to clean the grill. No biggie though. House was clean, cozy and overall a fun hangout spot! The fireplace was amazing. Do not expect anything too fancy. The folks at the rental company were so nice and we were even able to get an early check in. I’d also like to add that we experienced some paranormal activity. I will not go into details but I’ll say it made for an interesting stay. I would definitely stay again.
I want to make sure I let everyone know we had some paranormal activity going on in this house. My sister had someone breathe in her ear when she was sleeping on the couch. I had the door slammed on me and my friend downstairs, and another one of our group members saw a Male figure standing by the door upstairs in the bunk bed room. So if you are into that, well there's that!
The top bathroom door was broken. The pool table sticks were broken and not in great condition. Also when we stepped on the deck we almost fell because it was so slippery with the snow. The pots in the home were not in the best condition and I found a moldy dish (thank God we bought our own dishes). Other than that, it was a good sized house. You can't see the lake really but it's still nice, carpets probably need to be cleaned. Oh, also the bunk beds and all the beds actually, make a lot of noise! The jacuzzi water looked pretty dirty as well. ..
I didn't like that we could not ask for a late check out as the check in is at 4pm, and you practically throw away your own trash in a bin away from the home, and have to put away all your dishes!
We had a great trip!
Perfect for 3 families to enjoy a stay in the mountain. The kids LOVED the pool table during the day and the adults loves it during the night.
Real Cabin Feel...
This place was cool. Its not Ritz Carlton or anything like that, the cabin is dated but overall it was OK for us. we had about 15 people and it fit everyone perfectly. there were some things broken and it needed some updating but its Big Bear we weren't expecting anything fancy. I've seen some reviews on here about cleanliness and my aunt and myself have mild OCD but we knew these cabins up here are pretty old and most really need to be updated but we went in prepared, Lysoled every surface, bleached and scrubbed the bathrooms and covered all the beds and used our own blankets and pillows. Thats what we do in any rental home we use. i would never depend on a cleaning crew to clean to my standards so i do it myself. This was one of two cabins our family rented for about 4 days and it wasn't too bad. We also rented the mansion up on Cove Dr and though the house was huge it too needed some updating. The Gold Rush Cabin does look bigger on the photos than in real life but it was nice overall, it had that cabin homey feel from the decor, it was quite, and it had 3 bathrooms which was really nice. It did mention lake views but due to the drought up there you cant see the lake from the cabin at all. The parking for a large party was horrible, it says 4 cars but they must mean 4 tiny cars! We were only able to fit 2 trucks in the parking area and one small car in front, however the rental agency was great they allowed us to use they're parking lot to store the other cars. Overall it was a great place. We would definitely use them again, mostly because the rental agency employees were super nice and accommodating.
Rented this cabin for my husband's 40th birthday, total of 4 families. Location is perfect, the moutain on the side of the house was perfect for the kids to have some fun!!! Gold rush staff was very friendly and very informative. My issues with the cabin was that is was not very clean, the kitchen utensils/ pots, pan looked like they weren't cleaned from the last renters. The mats in all the restooms, smelled like urine and we're super filthy, our towels that we paid extra for had holes. The comforters on the "beds" looked like they had a rough life, new to update them. Once we unmade the beds there was hair on the sheets, my son slept in the room with all the twin beds and he found an old dirty sock...looked like they didn't change the sheets from the previous renters😨 I'm giving it a 2 star because I did like the location and the staff, if not I would have given it 1 star. Extra paper towels, toilet paper and trash bags are a must to bring.
A bit dated and tired looking.
You had to have special powers to get the front door open ... The handle didn't want to turn. The kitchen faucet was barely attached. We were told about these things at check in, but I think that they were not new issues.
I am used to having the basics when I rent... 1 roll of paper towels, 1 kitchen towel... For 15 people for 4 days????? No basics like salt, pepper, sugar, cooking spray ect!
The cabin was large enough for us all and conveniatly located. It even had some sloped ares for the kids to sled on.
Overall a good experience, but Confort Inn level for Hilton prices.
