Our cabin is a lovely 1400 sq foot 2 bedroom cabin perched on the edge of a 50 foot slope down to the lake. From the deck there is a stunning and panoramic view of the lake through pines on the slope with bald eagles nesting in the treetops right in front of you as you sit on the deck drinking your morning coffee. The view is to the north so the sun rises over the lake to your right and sets to your left, often with brilliant colors. The lot is forested so there is lots of shade on the hotter days. There is a boat lift and 40 foot private dock with a staircase down to the lake. There is a canoe you can use if you bring it back up where we store it on the west end of the garage/there are paddles in the garage just inside the man door on the lake side of the garage. The lake bottom is very gradual so an adult can wade out about 200 feet before getting in over his head. The bank is rip-rapped but after the first 10 feet or so the bottom is mostly sandy and great for swimming. Lake temperatures are about 70 degrees or more by the end of June and the lake is so clear that you can see down 10 feet or more so it's a wonderful place to swim and snorkel. It has a full kitchen with refrigerator, range, microwave, coffeemaker and toaster. There is a septic system and no disposal so there is a screen in the kitchen sink and you have to be careful to keep any debris from going down the drain. There is no dishwasher. The great room has a wonderful view of the lake through sliding patio doors and bay window and is about 25 by 30 including the sitting areas, dining area and galley kitchen. There is a large sectional with a TV, DVD player and cable TV. There is internet access with a wireless router. There is also a trundle bed in the great room. The lower bed can be brought out so 2 can sleep there or it can be left underneath and 1 can sleep there. There are 2 bedrooms. The master has a queen size bed. The other bedroom has 2 twins. There is a full bath with tub/shower, lavatory and toilet. A second bathroom has a stand up shower and toilet, and then a larger room with a laundry tub, medicine chest, mirror and coat racks. Outside there is a charcoal grill, portable fire pit, wood supply, deck table and chairs and front lawn for bocci ball, playing catch or sitting in the adirondack chairs under the trees and reading. It's about 2 miles to the Indian casino and about 7 miles to Hayward which is a resort town of over 2000 people with restaurants, large grocery stores, gift shops, hardware stores and places to rent all kinds of watercraft. There is a marina on the lake that sells gas, rents pontoon boats, speed boats and other kinds of watercraft. It is a 20-30 minute drive to rent canoes and tubes to float the Namakagon River which holds smallmouth bass, muskies and northerns. The upper stretch above Hayward holds considerable numbers of brown trout. Hayward Country Club is a wonderful golf course that is open to the public and is right in town. It is an old-style golf course with lots of trees and always in immaculate shape. It's about $55 with cart, $44 for seniors 62 and over. A Pete Dye designed golf course called Big Fish is 2 miles from the cabin, right across the road from the casino. It's a more difficult course with an open links-style front nine and a hilly back nine that winds through the forest. There are a number of other nice courses in the area within about 30 minutes. My favorite is Spooner GC in Spooner-really scenic, rolling hills and always in wonderful shape. I may accept dogs after discussion on the phone and my agreement. If I do agree to have you bring your dog the dog must be kept outside at all times.

About Gregory Ralston
I live in Oregon full time but grew up in Rochester, Minnesota. My Mom and Dad built the cabin in 1985 and I inherited it in 2012. I've been there every year for at least 2 weeks with my family since 1985. I'm now a semi-retired emergency physician working about 1 week a month in Phoenix, Arizona at the Indian Service Hospital. But I spend about 3 weeks at the cabin each July doing repairs and maintenance, fishing, golfing, having reunions and relaxing. In Oregon I grow a large garden with strawberries, fruit trees, flowers and vegetables and yes I love to fly fish here too.
Gregory Ralston purchased this Cabin in 1985
Why Gregory Ralston chose Round Lake
I inherited the cabin from my parents in 2012. I helped Dad build the deck. Dad was a physician at the Mayo Clinic but a pretty good carpenter too. He built the kitchen cabinets and lots of other things in the cabin. I've always loved the setting and the lake and hope to keep the cabin in the family, passing it down to my kids.

Eagle Aerie Round Lake
We enjoyed our stay at Eagle Aerie on Round Lake. The deck overlooking the lake was great for morning coffee and very restful. The cabin also had great views form all windows. We enjoyed seeing the lake all day long. We had 2 different families of ducks as well as a Hooded Merganser that visited us daily. Cabin had everything we needed for our stay.
Cabin was very comfortable and had plenty of room for our group of 5. Water is crystal clear, the lake is large and we enjoyed boating to all parts of the lake.
Great property for a Summer getaway.
This was a great spot for my vacation. The cabin was exactly the right size, with a great view, and easy access to everything we needed. The owner, Greg, was very detailed and extremely pleasant to work with.
Great cabin, beautiful lake
Great experience! I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking!
We had a great stay - what a lovely property on a gorgeous lake - thanks much!
Our family stayed here over the 4th of July and found it exactly what we needed. A place to sleep and cook our meals and to take a nice hot shower. We spent the better of our time on the lake, and why wouldn't you, its an awesome lake! Hayward was a short distance away and we had to go to the ice cream store, its fabulous. For our family, this was just perfect.
Great little cabin with lake breezes and plenty of space. Close to town, casino and lake restaurants. Nice calm area of the beautiful clear lake. No bugs in August 😉 Quiet and peaceful. We would stay here again.
Round Lake is so clear that it's a tough lake to fish and it's taken me many trips to the lake to become familiar enough to do well on it. It's not worth fishing during the day unless you want to go into Little Round Lake and fish the weedy areas for panfish. The Chippewa Flowage is a large lake about 5 miles from the cabin which is fun to fish. There are resorts there with boats for rent and fishing guides to all the lakes and rivers in the area are readily available. There are a number of rivers that are great for flyfishing, including the Namakagon, with smallmouth bass, northern and muskies in the lower river below Hayward and abundant brown trout in the river above Hayward. The Chippewa is a few miles and the Brule which Eisenhower had a cabin on is about an hour. Canoe and inner tube trips are available on the Brule and Namakagon. Hayward is about 7 miles away with restaurants, movies and gift shops. The World Lumberjack Festival is held in Hayward every year in late July. The original Famous Dave's restaurant was on Round Lake until it burned down last year. My understanding is that they're going to rebuild it but they still have a giant fireworks display the night before the 4th of July over the lake. There are numerous golf courses around the area; my favorites are Hayward CC which is about $55 for golf and cart and Spooner which is about a 30 mile drive. Both are fun old-style courses and always in immaculate condition. The Indian casino is about 2 miles from the cabin for gambling enthusiasts and there's a new Italian restaurant about 9 miles away, south on county road K called Ristorante Italiano. I ate there a couple weeks ago and it was very good with reasonable prices. I've heard the Chippewa Inn is terrific though it looks a bit more spendy. The Marketplace grocery store in Hayward has a good selection of wines and for meats and fish I'd recommend Lynne's in Hayward.
